Could be better managed!
Maintenance/Caretaker (Former Employee) - Sandbach - 5 December 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? The residents always came first for me, most of the staff were really nice. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? When management wasn’t in control! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The environment was nice, culture was fine What is a typical day like for you at the company? It was busy and at times frustrating! Due to who was managing the home!

Challenging but very rewarding job.
Care Manager (Current Employee) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire - 5 December 2023
Each day for me is different, reprioritising sometimes every few minutes. The challenges are real as I'm dealing with people. The job is hard but so rewarding. It's like working in a five star hotel where the Residents live how they want. Everyone is friendly. Care is hard, but it takes a special kind of person to do what we do. 12 hour days working to a 3 on 3 off rota. I love being part of the Lime Trees family and really glad the Home Manager gave me a chance to shine. I would encourage anyone to apply. To see the Residents happy and enjoying life is the best part of my job.
Pros
3 on 3 off, good rate of pay, paid breaks.

Insights into Ideal Carehomes
What people like
- Fair pay for job
Areas for improvement
- Trust in colleagues
- Sense of belonging
- Support from manager
Unsupportive, overworking and prejudiced work environment
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Loughborough - 21 November 2023
Employees are completely overworked and unappreciated by management. Staff turnover is high and if you have mental health issues you will be discriminated against by the management, the care is sub par as too much is under the radar.
Pros
Lovely residents
Cons
Unfriendly work environment

Not person centred care
Senior Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Swadlincote, Derbyshire - 19 November 2023
At ideal care homes its all about bums in beds and the time you get to spend with them is very very minimal. The amount they pay and the actual care they get is terrible. Always short staffed and I have no idea how they get away with such limited staff to residents
Pros
Wages
Cons
Short staffed

Great place to work
Deputy Manager (Former Employee) - Cannock, Staffordshire - 27 September 2023
An amazing place to work but home manager was very unprofessional and rude . Felt pushed out and not given support in developing skills. Most staff members were amazing but no one stayed long enough to create a good team work and acceptance within

Interesting
Care (Former Employee) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire - 6 September 2023
Recommend to go undercover there, and can get true honest reflection on place and management . Not the place for easily offended, and who likes to be honest and tell the truth

The best values
Care Manager (Current Employee) - North West - 29 August 2023
I have worked in care for over 10 years and I can honestly say Ideal are the best care company I have worked for, their values and morals for our residents are everything I stand for and work for. All the staff (in house, head office, directors etc) are always on hand for support and advice

Minimal staff and expected to carry out all work nights get blamed for everything and there us no tean commaradery. Wages are ok but the amount if work expected in 12 hrs with only 4 staff or less Is unachievable

Jobs at Ideal Carehomes
No support from management
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Dewsbury, West Yorkshire - 22 August 2023
I was so excited after the interview to start working for the company and thought the training was great, so much fun. Unfortunately this changed within a few weeks and I saw reality. Some great hardworking staff here that truly care about the residents but they have so much to do they don’t have time to spend quality time with the residents through the day. Social media is made to look like it’s full of activities every day but the reality is it isn’t as staff are so busy with no support from management and nothing is ever good enough, always wanting more. The most enjoyable part of the job is the lovely residents but the hardest part of the job is trying to speak to management if you have concerns. You are quickly shot down if you dare have an opinion. Management have zero compassion for staff unless their face fits. Only interested in profit and saving money where they can. Don’t work here if you want to stay sane
Pros
Local to town
Cons
Have to pay to eat the food

Very stressful place to work no support from management
Carer (Former Employee) - Swadlincote, Derbyshire - 11 August 2023
Loved this job when I first started then went down hill ,good for promotion and career prospects but once there no support no training just expected to know what to do . Have an opinion and your out . Not enough staff to look after the residents considering the amount they are paying . Constantly told there are enough staff if you dont like it theres the door really poor attitude.
Pros
Left over food
Cons
Long hours constantly asked to do extra

Great Place To Work.
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Redditch - 4 August 2023
I have been working here since it opened in October 2022, It is a great place to work and everyday is different. the hardest part of the job is watching our Respite residents go back home and they become part of the Millcroft Family.

Terrible
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Dudley, West Midlands - 27 July 2023
The higher managment are in total control, manager just a face. Everyone treated as disposable and no support. Dislike idealcare they leave few staff and dictate not understaffed. Not allowed to have an opinion. Terrible treat you rubbish. Best staff leave. They advance people before they are ready then fire too quick. Terrible be warned.
Pros
Allowed to eat scraps but only in staff room
Cons
Long days treated as disposable

Under staffed
Carer (Current Employee) - West Midlands - 22 July 2023
The trainer tells you how supported you will be. This is untrue. There is a high turnover of staff. Quite often there are not enough staff to meet the residents needs.

Don’t care for staff
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Wakefield, West Yorkshire - 16 July 2023
Understaffed all the time, constantly being asked to pick up new shifts or work nights. Always on top of you when you haven’t had time to get something done because of being understaffed. Training goes on about how much they care for the staff, they don’t at all. Still asked to come in when ill and not listening to complaints
