I worked here for several weeks as an agency worker as a stop gap. I am of an age that my parents forced me to work from 16 so i do understand the expectation of work!! I must admit reading some comments on here before starting i was a bit sceptical but I enjoyed it. I have worked in manufacturing for 30 years and most factories are the same labour turn over is high here half of the younger generation walk in when they want to and turn up when they like and try and get away with the bare minimum. My team leader was very help-full and i must admit I sympathise with him as every day we were missing parts. Health and safety within the factory was very good. Lots of excess stock around the factory needs a warehouse! The pay is not in line with other manufacturers that are similar there is no shift allowance on shifts, no attendance bonus Im told although there are people missing daily on the lines. Some very good workers need to keep them.

Pros

Relaxed, good experience

Cons

No shift allowance- pay slightly under the average.

Very great company to work for as long as you get your head down infront of management and bond with other colleagues.

The company was very good to work for, the people were amazing and it was almost like a family! The managment on the other hand were the opposite and at some parts seemed like they were out to get you. The shift patterns were good for a basic life style and social life style, the main benefits has got to be the pay! But managment weren't the best at all

It was good

I say it was good, however they were very picky and choosy. you had to really be on the ball. they were also very picky. i really got into the paint spraying side of it though.

A good company to work for as long as you are willing to work hard a good bunch of lads work there and it’s a secure job as long as you turn up to work on time and do your fair share of work

Ridiculous pressure

If hard work and constant pressure to achieve impossible targets then try working here. 1 half hour break in an 8 hour shift is the only time you'll rest. If you hit the target they just put it up even higher, no praise or thanks from the team leaders when you hit the target. Been here 6 months and desperate to get out. Huge turnover of staff, people constantly leaving. AVOID at all costs unless you are desperate for money.

Pros

Money has just gone up

Cons

Hard work no rest

Awful Place

Staff and operators both leading a mass exodus from this place. Expectations are beyond belief, praise and engagement zero, the working atmosphere is toxic, they are constantly advertising but cannot fill the majority of the professional positions due to the above situation, operator turnover is the worst I have ever seen. Dictatorial management style ran on emotion from the very top that just does not work. You do not want this on your CV.

Pros

HR (not)

Cons

Far too many to note, read the other reviews.

Terrible place

I've worked as a robot weld operator for 4 years. The management is terrible - treat employees like subhumans, not very clever in planning for future, arrogant. Culture of lies and exploitation. Not very good wages for the kind of work they require. Has rightly a very bad reputation among potential employees - I wouldn't go back even if they doubled my wages. Slim chances of getting a full time job. Payrise of up to 5 p a year

Pros

Mince pie for Christmas

Cons

Bad management, exploitative company culture, arrogant managent

Not what it says on the tin

I was a long serving and loyal employee who realised eventually that things were not going to change despite best efforts and double figure years of patience. I worked hard with unrecognised long hours and commitment just to keep treading water. We always had to grow and cope with a very small structure above operator level that has been worsened by years of under staffing and a bottom line salary that is not commensurate with similar levels of responsibility in manufacturing. In fact the Team Leaders are woefully underpaid and work well above what would be the next level up in other parts of the manufacturing industry. Never ever had enough available resources throughout the group to meet and maintain basic production demands and the fight was lost within the first hours of the day, every day, every week, every month. The shop floor workforce is ruined by having to use a lot of unreliable agency that don’t want to work or travel from the nearest conurbation (20 odd miles away) for a basic wage. It does have a small core of permanent staff and operators who are excellent but they are rare to find and because they are good they are difficult to retain and move on to better. This is the main factor effecting the day to day operations throughout the entire group. Operator turnover in excess of 300 per year at one site with only 200 employees ! This lack of retention has already changed the face of the company on the inside and has had a detrimental effect on what IWT used to be. Pay, recruitment and retention is the sole driver for the ever increasing workload and unless -

Pros

Plenty of work. Very good Health & Safety despite other reviews.

Cons

Poor pay. Behind the times.

Dungeon

Terrible turn around of staff, no benefits whatsoever no incentive to stay there. Pay is awful. Treated like a number not a team member. Appalling management. Expected to train new employees, very poor health and safety, just don’t even consider it. Location is horrific too. Tools are over 50 years old. Different pay rates for agency and full timers are even on different pay rates yet you could all be doing the same job! How is that fair? It’s not because it’s not a fair company. Boiling hot in the tin sheds in summer and freezing in the winter. Draconian policy regarding holiday bookings. Just don’t do it go work on the bins instead! Full timers get treated with cash bonuses of up to £1000 at Xmas and 6 football shirts each from sponsoring Wrexham yet agency staff doing exactly the same work only get a mince pie! Treated like second class employees yet 75% of the staff are agency.

Pros

Can’t think of any

Cons

It’s just vile there
