If your face fits you will be ok if not prepare yourself.Unfortunately when I worked here there was bullying going on & management did nothing to resolve it.I ended up finding another job so I could escape from the bullying & it certainly made my life very stressful.

Been here 5 years and might not be the same for all stores but the management tend to come and go often! The staff are amazing though and it’s a fun place to work! Often leave the job laughing and look forward to work often! Terrible management though I really cannot understate that! No respect for employees and often treat you like you are in school!
Pros
Staff, good pay
Cons
Inconsistent managers and rules

I've sadly worked for this awful company for 10 years now, it used to be enjoyable. Now the managers happily let staff come in drunk and high and expect you to pick up the slack from all of their mates and favourites. Managers are awful, I've only ever came across 4 in a decade that were genuinely decent people, the rest are vindictive and lazy, but happily put a big front on Yammer about how wonderful they are. Do not even bother applying to this awful company if you have a good work ethic, you WILL be punished and victimised for it by the management.

Managers, Clicky Staff, Unfair Treatment

I've been there for nearly 5 years and it's honestly such a horrible company to work for. It has gone downhill a lot. You might be lucky to have good managers that support you but some stores not so much. I worked on counters and managers used to let you get on with it, but now when they replace them with new managers, you're getting told how to do the job when they have never once worked/trained on the department. There's no communication or support from the managers. They keep making simple work into difficult work which is unnecessary. It's understaffed, making you work hard and late out. It's very stressful and not worth it.
Pros
Decent pay
Cons
Poor management

Horrible time working here. Most Management were uncaring towards you, treated you like a robot, pushed for you to get jobs done on the shopfloor that aren't possible when being called onto the tills all the time. Not a great place.

Cons
10-7 shifts. No freedom for yourself throughout the day

I was shown by the management team that they had faith, in me doing all aspects of the roles I was given to do.I learned about all stages of shelf filling from rotating the products etc.Building up rapport with my colleagues and the support given by my colleagues was second to none.
Pros
Steady working day
Cons
Hourly pay rate was not adequate.

I worked nights with a great team although the long hours sometimes meant a lack of morale among staff. Overall it’s a great job for students, young people but wouldn’t recommend it as a long term career choice.
Pros
Lovely team
Cons
Long hours, stressful at times

Friendly work place, usually quite flexible especially if you are a student. Pay is good. You can be trained in multiple departments which is good as job tasks can get very repetitive.

Good pay
Cons
Can get repetitive

The company doesn't care about you, and puts on a front to customers. All they care about these days is saving money, even if that means sabotaging colleague wellbeing. No premiums apart from a discount card that goes back into the company. Must work 1 day in the weekend. Bank Holidays and Sunday premiums paid the same.Unpaid breaks
Pros
Not sure
Cons
Stress

Initially very good but the last year has seen targets become the only goal. Customer service, employee welfare completely gone. Just a question of getting the van out on time no matter what!

Training was very minimal and due to management changes, the cogs often didnt turn well. I would work there again, if I needed a job, but it is very difficult to get more than 20 hours a week.
Pros
Not difficult
Cons
Hard to get accepted as a team member

While my training was a bit all over the place, I enjoyed it. I was trained by half a dozen different people which caused confusion but when I got the hang of it, I loved it.The staff are second to none, everyone mucks in and has a giggle. Unions are promoted, always a good sign. The staff discount mounts up too.I left because structural changes altered my work patterns but I do miss it
Pros
People
Cons
Some customers.

If your face fits you will develop. I don’t believe Sainsbury’s support working mums and after many years of loyal service I found this out. There is zero consistency and managers are treated unfairly unless you fit the click. Zero support from area manager, who was inappropriate on several of occasions which led me to leave. What once was an amazing company I loved working for had to many cave men who treated women like they were beneath them
Pros
Benefits
Cons
Long hours zero flexibility
