Shocking
Office worker (Former Employee) - Fakenham, Norfolk - 9 November 2023
Only interested in getting people to work as many hours as possible for poor money, poor business process and no consideration for well being of their people

Not a bad place too work, terrible pay.
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Corby, Northamptonshire - 22 August 2023
I worked there for 6 months, hgv class 1. Work loads were reasonable and realistic, but when you work out your hourly pay, you could earn as much stacking shelves in a supermarket.

Great place to work with clear and realistic time frames.
HGV Cat C+E Driver (Current Employee) - Northwich - 6 August 2023
Great place to work. As a Tramper on a Mon - Fri contract I have a clear idea of what is expected with clear and realistic time expectations. I am treated with respect at all times and have never been put in a position that I am unhappy with or feel obliged to do. Day to day work is varied and interesting which includes all aspects of curtain sided work from food to compost, from flint to bricks. I feel happy working at Jack Richards and highly recommend working here.
Pros
2 Loyalty Bonuses a year, fuel bonus each pay period.
Cons
Hourly pay could be improved upon.

Good job no stress, money could be better, don't get me wrong it's not the worst.
LGV 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Boston - 19 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Nice people, well maintained vehicles. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? No stress, they plan runs with plenty of time & if you're running late, just call them, no dramas. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Good, spoken to with total respect. What is a typical day like for you at the company? As long as you've completed the job & given yourself time for the next day, they leave you alone. I very rarely work more than 13 hrs.

Good people, good customer, poor working culture
Transport Manager (Former Employee) - Cambridgeshire - 22 June 2023
55 hours a week means each day is a long day, looking after all customer requirements whilst managing the onsite Jack Richards staff. Out of hours happens frequently and it is expected. Such a big learning curve, multiple systems to learn and maintaining an excellent working relationship with on site customer. Customer will do anything to help which was a godsend, Jack Richards staff help immensely and appreciated every single day. The workplace culture by some in senior management makes Jack Richards a difficult place to work, very tight with resources and staff support. Hardest part of the job was leaving it, the people were the reason I gave everything for the job and the people everyday were the reason I stuck at it as long as I could.

Not much good to say
HGV Driver (Former Employee) - Fakenham - 2 May 2023
Well what can I say about this company? Trying really hard to think about some positive points but to be honest I can't! I was a tramper based at fakenham. For a start I was lied to by the recruitment team as to what I would be paid and was under paid! Also the planners and young office staff clearly have no idea about working time and daily breaks as I was told I'd have to go over my hours if I wanted to get home at the end of the week! Also they have no idea what is going on as they on more than one occasion sent me to the wrong delivery point with the incorrect trailer. For a well established firm they should know better. They set impossible delivery times especially when it's on behalf of metsa wood as they don't factor in unloading times then they will lie to you and tell you there is another driver to take the trailer off you and complete the delivers so you don't go over was hours but it's just lie to get you to do the drops and then leave you miles away from home with no hours left. Honestly you are better off stacking shelves than working for a disorganised company like these.
Pros
Going home
Cons
Lots

Poor Management
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Fakenham, Norfolk - 21 April 2023
If you want to work for a company that has no respect for its drivers then this is the company for you. I didn't want to work for a company like that so after a few months of their attitude I quit.

Worst place to work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Fakenham - 13 April 2023
This is one of the worst places to work. Planners haven’t got a clue most of the office staff are clueless. Management well shocking. Forward facing cameras in cabs they are fine if used how they are supposed to be used for ie if you have an incident out on the road but no they are used against you in every way they can do something other that having 2 hands on the wheel and they are on you. You get threatened with being reported with the Traffic Commissioner Now that’s just wrong the job is bad enough with vosa and the police The money is a joke all depots are paid different even though you do the same work I would think twice about driving here AVOID
Pros
No pros
Cons
Having no life

Run!
Driver (Former Employee) - Northwich, Cheshire - 7 March 2023
Jacks will promise you the world. They will literally offer you everything they can, lure you in to some amazing pot of gold at the end of the rainbow type situation and then from a great height, dump on you. Possibly one of the worst companies I had the displeasure of ever working for! Always looking after their “yes men” and everyone else gets naff all work and naff all hours.
Pros
You are left alone
Cons
No work, poor management, no communication at all.

Another driving job
class 1 driver (Former Employee) - corby - 13 February 2023
Good shift patterns. In fact you have a good chance of picking the shift pattern that suits you best. Equipment is well maintained but not flashy. The DAFs have fridges and microwaves, but could do with the bigger cab. Fair mix of work, longer trips up to Scotland, plenty of multidrop, get used to strapping timber. Staff are friendly, although sometimes some of them clearly don't really understand what it's like to be a driver. Sometimes poor communication within the offices, and if there's a problem you end up repeating the info to different people. Not high pressure though, and not micro-managed. Overall one of the better companies to work for.

Good place to work as a driver
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Fakenham, Norfolk - 27 January 2023
Best thing is that they have some good shift patterns. In fact you have a good chance of picking the shift pattern that suits you. Equipment is well maintained but not flashy. Pros
Friendly company, choice of shifts, well-maintained equipment, good work.
Cons
Cabs could have better accommodation, sometimes poor communication with the office.

Worst experience of driving
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Northwich, Cheshire - 12 December 2022
I don't leave reviews lightly, but what a joke of a company this is. Be warned your contract won't be what it seems, in a nutshell there version of 'flexible contracts' is basically just a zero hours contract in which they can stand you down unpaid whenever they decide !

Lots of work but poorly ran
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - King's Lynn, Norfolk - 11 December 2022
Lots of work so never waiting for next job. Little or no consideration to the employee. I required a day off due to personal circumstances with my wife being I’ll, couldn’t get child care and when I called in I was told it wasn’t great timing and the planner huffed and puffed at me, I left soon after. Family before job every time for me personally
