Jaguar Land Rover are deeply saddened by the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen & Royal Family. The Duke devoted his life to public service & made a significant contribution to UK manufacturing, engineering & design.
EDU Systems and Concepts Manager, Francesco, tells us why itâs a great time to be involved in Electrification at Jaguar Land Rover: "Over 6 years ago, when I was looking to develop my career, Jaguar Land Rover caught my eye as the first big company in Europe to be investing in Electrification. At that time, we had a small team of about 20 people â but this has really grown as Electrification becomes more and more integrated into everyday life across the globe. As a team we are progressively looking to improve efficiency of our electric vehicles and the projects we have been working on have shown phenomenal improvements within this area. Our technical competence and awareness are continually growing. We learn and we evolve - with big ambitions to make even greater strides within this area. Part of my role as EDU Systems and Concepts Manager is to ensure systems integration that not only is performant and durable but, most importantly, maximises efficiency. Over the past few years our team has grown in expertise and size. We are pushing boundaries, and this is both an exciting and challenging time to join the business. We are really evolving â constantly looking at new ways of doing things - and within the team you can freely express your creativity and expertise. Joining us, youâll be making your statement with our iconic brands." Find out more about how you can get involved by the link in our bio. #ReimagineYourFuture #LifeatJLR #Electrification
Our colleagues at JLR Halewood have been doing some incredible charity work to support their local communities. Last week, they had their second Halewood Foodbank Takeover, where 2000 food items were donated to Knowsley Foodbank, including lots of yummy Easter Eggs, which we hope put a smile on some little faces. Thank you also to Trim & Finalâs Neil Plews who organised a virtual Easter Egg collection for Alder Hey Childrenâs Hospital, where Halewood colleagues sent in contributions via text message. This has helped to raise over ÂŁ70 and the proceeds were used to buy Easter Eggs and crafts for the children to enjoy. #LifeatJLR #Easter #Community
JLR Engine Manufacturing Centre recently celebrated the Employee & Kaizen of the Month awards to recognise the achievements of our wonderful employees. For Employee of the Month awards, in first place, Machiningâs Sarah Roberts took the first-place award for her incredible efforts as sheâs stepped up into a leadership role in recent months. Not only has she expressed a desire to learn the Lean Systems and Tools to help herself and her team progress, but she has gone above and beyond, spending time outside of work to learn the key requirements that form the foundations of a leader in her field. Head Technology Manager, Jason Evans was beaming with pride as he handed over the award and said: âSarah has gone from strength to strength in the last few months and itâs fantastic that all her hard work has been recognised.â In second place was an extraordinary woman named Ara Matthews who works in EMCâs Petrol Assembly Hall, but sheâs not always been track-side. She used to work in EMCâs canteen, but she swapped the canteen for conrods and was recognised with this award for her work standing in for a Team Leader and her incredible hard work in doing so. Finally, in third place, Ewelina Janiszewska from Mod 4 Assembly won her award for driving improvements, supporting her team and always leaving a handover for the next team on shift. Kaizen of the Month awards were just as impressive, taking home the first-place award was Chris Cooper and James Latham from Assembly for their diligence and efforts to contribute to Charge+ savings. In second place Dan Cheadle and Rich Buffery came up with a âQualityâ Kaizen whereby they created a combined e-tracker system which would allow the EMC and BAC to work more collaboratively together. And, finally, in third place, Paul Mills from Mod 4 Assembly came up with a Kaizen which saw efficiencies made on our production line. Well done to all the winners and nominees. #LifeatJLR #Recognition
This Wednesday sees the return of JLR Halewoodâs Foodbank Takeover, where once again, we will be converting our People Centres into temporary foodbanks, as part of our ongoing partnership with Knowsley Foodbank. Jay Round, from Trim & Final, has been the driving force behind this campaign: âCharity starts at home and this is the first of four takeovers planned for this year, which will help us to make a real difference to so many people and families. We are in regular contact with Knowsley Foodbank and know the last few months have been incredibly busy for them because of the third national lockdown, which has meant many people have been unable to work or were self-isolating, so havenât been able to afford food or essentials. Itâs shocking to think this is going on, right on our doorstep. At one point they were feeding up to 2,000 people a week and calls to their Food Support Line rocketed - they have been a lifeline to people. Our contacts at the foodbank are also concerned that the situation is only going to get worse as the furlough system comes to an end, as the reality is more people will end up losing their jobs and need to access their support." #LifeatJLR #Charity #Knowsley #Community
We've been remembering those lost and showing our support for all who have been bereaved during the Covid-19 pandemic. Time to reflect and hope for a brighter future. #LifeatJLR #DayofReflection
Zoe Miller from the JLR Battery Assembly Centre is sporting a red nose today for @comicrelief Zoe and the EMC management team have committed to wearing their red noses in every meeting they attend (including on TEAMS) throughout today. The money raised for Comic Relief will go to organisations including those supporting older people, women facing rising levels of domestic abuse and communities experiencing racial inequality who are disproportionately affected by coronavirus. You can sponsor Zoe and the team here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EMC #LifeatJLR #RedNoseDay #Charity
Adrian Chadwick works in the JLR Castle Bromwich Paintshop and spends his time ensuring that cars are retrieved from our L Block Painted Bodystore and are sent at just the right time for our Trim and Final team to meet our customer orders. Outside of work, the 49-year-old has been going the extra mile to support the fight against Covid-19 by becoming a regular plasma donor for NHS Blood and Transplant. Due to his level of antibodies, Adrian has been able to donate an amazing seven times in total and intends to keep donating for as long as he can: âAfter having had the disease myself and getting through it I knew I wanted to get involved to try and help others. This has been a hard a difficult year for everyone, but thankfully it looks like we are starting to come through it. Iâve got the utmost respect for all of the healthcare workers whoâve been on the front line and when this is all over, Iâd like to be able to say I did everything I could to help too.â #LifeatJLR #Community #Covid19
