Money is good (although that has changed since i left for agency starters, will never reach 100% wage like employees before this change. Management is awful in my experience, "quality over quantity" is the false motto from management who only car about hitting target builds for their bonus, management also likes to try and break human rights like bathroom breaks, aswell as punishing staff for every mistake no matter how minor, poor work culture from my experience of 6½ years.

Semi skilled operator

Manpower plc provided me with a contract however due to insurance policy of the site land Rover and some of the managers dangled the carrot in order to get some completed work and never up held the agreement on the permanent Contract the money componsates the short fall but young qualified tech's should be warey of joining the company sub 28 you are of no value and unless you have studied a Jaguar land Rover Engineering endorsed apprenticeship it's a no promotion go area pure blood only , contractors great prospects however contractor life sometimes needs a nock on the head and permanent family or relationship need to be built and you either ride the carousel and take the good and bad of contracting or you settle for less then what your worth

Good Pay if you don't mind shifts

Shifts can change but it's always Monday-Friday, never weekends unless you fancy overtime. Can be monotonous, but that's why the pay is good. Won't find more money anywhere else for unskilled work

No progression

All the experienced people are leaving. Management fixated on talking and not doing. Good people cannot progress so leave. Working hours are long and the atmosphere and morale is poor.

I did not enjoy it

Worked here as an undergraduate manufacturing engineer. The training and support for undergrad was non-existence. Work was slow to come by and when they do, they are usually too mundane to worth 17k a year I was being paid.That being said, I did a short placement with the engineering team and found it really interesting. The culture and pace in engineering is completely different from manufacturing.

Fast paced and unpredictable at times

Better than it has been, just as I was leaving the maintenance structure was improving and moving to a much needed dedicated structure - seemed like it was heading in the right direction. Still a way to go to catch up other sites on terms and conditions however - the same role at other sites can expect to earn 10k more for doing 2 hours less a week.Shift patterns can change pretty quickly without much warning.


Canteen facilities are better than most companies


Favouritism does happen but thats the same of any company.

Good salary to be treated poorly

TLDR; you'll get a very good salary once you're qualified, however this is to make up for the fact you will be a faceless number to management. You will be messed around - moved repeatedly to new areas with unfamiliar equipment and job roles/responsibilities, given little to no support, training or tools, whilst being pressured.Starting as an apprentice you'll train at a college full time. The training received is not very relevant. Basic skills are taught but for the most part will not be used day to day at work. Steadily over time you'll be placed in plant somewhere to pick up the job. Be prepared to follow people around and generally be treated like a nuisance. The older guys see apprentices as a hazard, an extra burden that can 'land them in the S#÷T'. Younger guys that have done the apprenticeship themselves may understand what it was like and be willing to offer some guidance and relevant training. Training offered or organised by management? Non-existent. There will be no plan in place, you will be moved around various departments and blocks seemingly at random. There is no plan in place, so it's not malicious, however you will be moved at the exact moment you figure out the equipment, routine faults and how to fix them, and/or once the guys on shift have accepted you. Overtime and shift working is available to some apprentices but not others. It all depends on the attitude of the manager you're placed under. So be prepared to miss out on valuable learning opportunities as most planned maintenance is carried out on afternoon or night shifts. (This can hamper you later -

Fun place to work,loads of different opportunities within your work place.

Only down Fall is rotating shifts. Im afraid you just can't seem to catch up with the days.Apart from that fun place to work and very helpful work colleagues ect.

Fun workplace on shop floor but management are terrible

Worked here within maintenance for many years at CB. Good pay when on shifts and overtime but management see you as a “number” and have no respect for people on the shop floor.


Occasionally have real good offers on cars


Formal training courses are very rarely offered

Pay was and is the only good part

The pay is the only reason I started there, you get treated like sh##e and management use discipline as away of getting the most out of you, you are watched and timed on your job, there never enough time to do the job in the first place but they want more. I had a death and had time of and came back to early and had a mental brake down, to which I was signed off sick and then disciplined twice for being off

-Very diverse and ever evolving, dynamic team.-Great variety of areas to grow and learn from.- Management generally speaking, listens to employees and take into account their concerns and points of view.-Fast paced environment means always having things to do and now with -Agile being able to step up and support on topics that are more relevant or interesting for you. Having fun is possible!- Opportunites to progress your carrer and move vertically and horizontally.- Hybrid working available-Working for a well known and established brand (pair of brands)- Opportunities to test drive the products you work with.- Good range of bennefits (great pension scheme, great maternity leave package, great range of discounts and offers for JLR employess...)

Best company I have ever worked for!

Only regret was ever leaving, however, there is no JLR plant in Wiltshire!Great culture and team spirit, incredible inclusivity at all levels, from MD to toilet cleaning, everyone knows what to do!!

One of the worst places to work.

Stay away from this shiiitte show one of tbe worst places i have worked i was trained on the job i applied for but ended up putting on something i had no idea doing you have to be at work 35_40mins early to get a visitors pass to get entry to work no training or help if your face doesnt fit in you will certainly know

Good set of skilled blokes but those above spoilt it

Worked on the contract side so we were the lowest of the low plenty of money to be earned but bad management skills no communication would not listen to time served welder fabricators on how to run Me department to little to late as it could have been so good.Onwards and upwards.

Overall a good company to work for

Worked for them for 8 years overall I have good memories and was paid more than fairly. The job was towards the end becoming more and more difficult with more expectations and demand. The company I would work for them in the future again but needed a break from the monotonous tasks daily.

Overall not a bad place to work but room for improvement

Good pay and benefits but could be run better from a management point of view, old school management styles. Lack of experienced heads in certain departments and reluctance to externally recruit to help improve processes and techniques.

Line production operator

My time at jlr for 6 years was constantly getting told to do manual jobs repeatedly over and over with no appreciation for the outcome felt like I was just a robot and the management have a bullying culture that's ingrained in the factory,the management looks for ways to sack people all the time instead of encouraging people to get on they think this is their role to get rid of people ,very horrible atomsphere to work in

This is one of my favourite company to work. Lots of learning opportunities and growth.Getting a change to work with latest technology JLR is very good company to work

Good people, good company overall, progress slow

Everyone who works here is great. The company has a long history and hence established systems. Has updated its work culture recently to include remote working. Progress through promotion can be quite slow.

Awful management team . Can't keep good techs

Was a nice fun place to work at the start but rapidly whent down hill . In the 3yrs I was there I had 5 aftersales managers and 4 heads of business. Current management team are not interested in staff and will just turn on you for the littlest things . Will never work for them again under jardine motors


Poor management, staff turnover, good staff have all left
