Terrible place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Very repetitive and stressful work………. Not a great place to work and managers are not good. Think they own the place and can do and say what they want.

Production Operative

The pay is good for what it is and is the only redeemable descriptor of the job. Not an easy job and very demanding physically and mentally.

Pros

Good pay

Never work at jlr

You will regret working at jlr they treat you like dirt because you are agency staff and you will never get took on full time. You will be on a 3 month rolling contract and they have no problem getting rid of you they just don't care

Production - good/bad depends on your role

Money is good (although that has changed since i left for agency starters, will never reach 100% wage like employees before this change. Management is awful in my experience, "quality over quantity" is the false motto from management who only car about hitting target builds for their bonus, management also likes to try and break human rights like bathroom breaks, aswell as punishing staff for every mistake no matter how minor, poor work culture from my experience of 6½ years.

Pros

Wages

Cons

Shifts, Management

Semi skilled operator

Manpower plc provided me with a contract however due to insurance policy of the site land Rover and some of the managers dangled the carrot in order to get some completed work and never up held the agreement on the permanent Contract the money componsates the short fall but young qualified tech's should be warey of joining the company sub 28 you are of no value and unless you have studied a Jaguar land Rover Engineering endorsed apprenticeship it's a no promotion go area pure blood only , contractors great prospects however contractor life sometimes needs a nock on the head and permanent family or relationship need to be built and you either ride the carousel and take the good and bad of contracting or you settle for less then what your worth

Pros

Salary

Cons

Benefits don't apply to the better salary

Pay was and is the only good part

The pay is the only reason I started there, you get treated like sh##e and management use discipline as away of getting the most out of you, you are watched and timed on your job, there never enough time to do the job in the first place but they want more. I had a death and had time of and came back to early and had a mental brake down, to which I was signed off sick and then disciplined twice for being off

Rewarding

Rewarding benefits and salary, in a fast paced technical environment. Work is repetitive but the salary covers the boredom suffered while at work so cannot complain.

Tough shifts but very well compensated for it!

Mon-Fri which is good but 24 hour shifts not ideal, although won’t find a salary like that anywhere else for a production operative! Tough being a woman in a predominantly male environment and tough to progress

Pros

Good wage, easy work

Cons

24 hour shifts, mandatory overtime

Outdated managment

Jaguar Land Rover could be a great place to work. As a production associate life is pretty straight forward. Turn up to work on time, follow a set process for 8 hours and then leave on the buzzer. Shifts allow a good balance between family time and time without family which helps to get things done. The pay is good but you do have to work for it.The new CEO has came in with a refreshing attitude, however as always it gets washed down and filtered to nothing by the time it reaches the shop floor. The really senior management have great ideas but unfortunately the problematic managers are still in post which ultimately means nothing changes. Figures are constantly manipulated to make themselves look good. The culture of management try to use bullying tactics and promoting and looking after friends and family. The opportunities for progression are very limited to who you know, and it has only got worse since the Covid pandemic.

Pros

Good money, stress free, relatively secure, structured work. Lots of employee benefits.

Cons

Poor outdated attitudes from middle and senior management.

Production opertive

This place is a joke honestly. Your expected to work like a dog doing one thing and one thing only. There is zero progresion what so ever. You are exhausted by the end of the day and dont even have enough time to get a sip of water from your bottle because there just simply is not time. The line never stops and if you do need to spend alitte more time doing your fit, your just going to be late to the next car. Management is no help. You are just expected to do your job thats it. Shift times are terrible brakes are even worse. Just as little at 3 8 minuite brakes through a 9 hour shift. So you have to decide weather you want to go toilet or eat your food.

Pros

Money

Cons

Overworked

Horrible just horrible

Quite literally one of the worst places you can work it is hard, draining, unforfilling and unappreciated work. There is NO job security and they will let you go no matter what you contract says hiring you full time is not in there interest and everybody in your area will sell you down the river for an extra shift.

Pros

Pay and overtime

Cons

So so so many read above statement

Zero job security for new starters

I worked here for 3 years from 2018 to 2021. For the most part i enjoyed working there, decent people and great wages. The massive downfall is that as a new starter you have to be employed by an agency ( Randstad ) this wouldnt be so bad if you had a full jag contract to work to but you have to do 5 YEARS continual service an even then it is discretionary if they decide to give you a full contract. While you are on the agency you have no rights and will get finished at the drop of a hat. I would only recommend this place if you are currently unemployed an dont mind only getting a few weeks work from them.

Pros

good wages

Cons

never guaranteed a full time job

Poor place

Bullying, too much high expectations, no diversity or equality, very bad management in there , only thing good I suppose is the wage , but then again sacrifices have to made on ur behalf at this place !!!!!!

Pros

Cons

As good as it gets

Worked here for number of years at Castle Bromwich and solihull and to be honest for someone like me who didn't get any qualifications from school its the best job anyone can ask for, good money making iconic products that are internationally regarded, plenty of opportunity to advance or try new things, yes its hard, yes there are times when the last thing you want is a 12 hour Friday shift at JLR but the rewards, social life and pride in the product make it all worth it,if you have the chance to work here, grab it

Pros

Money, status

Cons

Hard work, physically taking a toll

Good pay but bad work ethics

Absolute joke of a company, just another number in there. Management are self centered t###s who discipline anybody for anything, make out they support workers with families when in fact they look at it as a hinderence. Over worked workers with little support as the union is in the companys pockets. Glad i got out

Pros

Can eat an smoke at same time to make the most of your break

Cons

Sell your sould for the pay

No job security, wrong people keep their jobs

Worked here for 5 1/2 years as agency. During the interview processes, we were constantly told we would be with them for a year before transferring to a JLR contract, only to find out on day one that that had changed without us knowing, and we would have to do 5 years. They moved the goal posts within 2 weeks of contracts being due, and made some rubbish up about it was always subject to business needs, however this is wrong, we were told from the very beginning it would be 5 years regardless. Worked my backside off for them for the whole time, never had any absences, nor any disciplinary action. along with several management awards for hard work and commitment, and I get laid off without so much as a thank you. Meanwhile, waste of space permanent JLR employees who milk the system and know exactly what to say and to who, and end up doing easy jobs on restrictions or off for 6 months every year, keep theirs. Don't bother joining the union, they're a complete waste of time and don't fight for you, unless you're a permanent employee. Management are useless and generally coked up bullies, there are a few good ones, but not many. There's a lot of short man syndrome there, as a lot of the bosses are vertically challenged, so they feel that they need to be bullies to be respected.Overall, horrible place to work, don't bother.

Pros

Absolutely none

Cons

There isn't enough space to list everything

Production Operative

No progression for manufacturing workers who are good at their job because they just want you to do your job. If you cause issues normally get moved to easier role which can lead them to progressToxic environment with the Management and Leadership bullying anyone below them in the orgainisation.Only care about how many cars produced.A lot of people in roles they seem to be incapable of.A team try to make the lines more efficient by reducing headcount but make jobs dangerous to the operator and the team drag out the process to gain overtime for themselves.

Pros

Well Paid

Cons

Evrything else

Wouldn't recommend

You are just a number, group leaders don't care about you at all, don't even talk to you. You will be treated horrible, you will be moved around the factory on a weekly basis. No job security at all you could go any time, they tell you could get jaguar contract after 5 years if you have never been sick or laid off! You are agency worker so you are paid 30% less that jaguar employees for the same job and you are a second hand worker bevlc

Pros

none

Cons

very stressful, no parking spaces, no job security
