High pay, low morals

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It’s hard work. Very boring and very repetitive. It’s very hard to advance within the company and if you do manage to get ahead they quite often arbitrarily knock you down to square one. Working for JLR is like a giant game of snakes and ladders. Only bad people make it off the line as the good people keep the place running and are used and abused. Pay is amazing but you are constantly looking over your shoulder waiting to be let go. I was lucky to get a contract after a year but these days it takes years to get one. The company only cares about non production staff. All the benefits are designed by people in offices for people in offices. Production staff are treated like animals. While the office staff are enjoying relaxed lunches with fresh healthy food, in the main restaurant, or having their sixth cigarette break of the day, production staff are rapidly eating their deep fried rubbish from one of the line side food hubs on one of their 2 fifteen minute breaks. The union is complicit in this abuse so don’t think they will help you! It’s a great place to work if you have a white shirt that’s for sure!

Sell your soul

Yes the pays good but forget social life and prepare for an early heart attack with the shift pattern they have. Management only care about numbers with no care for quality and blame operators for short comings although it's them trying to pump numbers out. If you want depression and anxiety work for JLR, do you ever see a happy landrover worker walking around?

poor place to work, no job security

A typical day at JLR is very boring and repetitive as to be expected with a production plant, sometimes a struggle to keep up if you have a problem with a vehicle. The management in my opinion have no people skills at all and do not posses any manners, their leader ship just doesn't show. I learned very quickly that no one cares about the quality of vehicle they are trying to produce, they just want the numbers out the door and ship a poor unreliable car onto the customer. The hardest part of the job is coping with the boredom and of course the shift patterns.

Pros

money

Cons

shifts, if you believe in doing a good job right its deffinately not for you

Good

The work can be good and money is good. But the management style can be aggressive and stressful at times. Morale could be better. Good holidays, and overtime available if want it.

Repetitive Hard

wouldn't recommend it, unless you are working directly for Jag, working for a agency you get paid peanuts.
