Having worked for them for 11 years I wouldn’t recommend. Everyone is out for themselves- no team spirit. No fair distribution of work between departments
HGV Class 2 Driver in Transport
Oh well we’ll look into that
A good place to gain experience, but after you have I recommend you to leave asap or you will soon be a number. My experience is it use to be a really good family firm until changes in the management has led to a division between drivers with money and how your treated. Eventually you get treated as a number fresh is more important than your health and safety. Issues raised over and over again with faulty units badly assembled units no equipment straps etc nothing gets done, yet they ask for you to raise issues??? Same with indeed responses we’ll look into that or investigate it whatever!! The company has gone more corporate rather than the family feel. All problems are kept under the ever growing transport carpet nothing ever goes higher up. Always happy to cut corners when it suits ie send trucks out with fridges not working but then happy to discipline you when you decide to do something that they have said to do in the past. Management, communication organisation and basics are the root cause to this company losing its touch with reality. Planned journeys with a non hgv driver who never allows your input, he couldn’t plan his breakfast. Overall long hours never know when your finishing, performance forced driving to enhance your wage. Can be punishing on your body with the repetition of heavy and faulty units over the years, on deliveries most stores don’t have delivery points or safe marked out areas, you have to abandon the truck and drag 500kgs up kerbs over cobbles or rough terrain. Drivers and how the goods are delivered are an after thought.

Stressfull work with performance
Very stressfull work with performance, driving trucks not health and safety, everybody Rush because performance. People is just the numbers. Managers do not appreciate that people work hard both on business days and at bank holidays aswell as on christmas time. If you are not a part of family, you are nobody.

Management definitely have favourites. Very clique. If your face doesn't fit you will be left for hours on the till whilst the rest of the staff stand in the back chatting. Breaks are terrible. Lucky if you get a last break. No one cares they just give you more and more to do if you complain and try make you leave. The food waste is scandalous. They would rather bin it to boost profits than give it to anyone. You would cry if you could see the amount of perfectly good food that goes in the bin every day.

Overworked with no rewards
A place where workplace politics rule. Plus the will have no problem firing you for no reason. If u work there for two years you can get away with murder. Some people can come in late and also leave early and leave you with hours of extra work
