Going downhill after takeover
I have worked for Jane lewis for many years and had a lot of respect for the company but after being taking over by Active Care Group there have been a lot of negative changes to the job. Office staff seem to change weekly so your can’t build a rapport with them and they don’t know what packages you work at regularly and try to send you elsewhere, usually miles away from home, you don’t get offered shifts where you prefer unless you can give months worth availability which isn’t great as being with an agency is supposed to have the benefit of flexibility. The wage hasn’t improved at all and you are basically paid minimum wage when the standard of wage in other agencies is a lot higher.Agency Nurse in South West

The sad decline of corporate takeover
I've been with Jane Lewis a long time, over 6 years on and off as an agency RGN. The company used to be great to work for, well organised with friendly staff. Now the company has been taken over/merged with Medbank healthcare. Lots of the branch offices have closed with work centralised through a Birmingham main office. The communication is now non-existent. For nurses and carers nothing gets done without repeated requests to office staff to sort things out. Shifts are slow in being allocated, frequent mistakes made with hours, insistence on using an "app" to sign in and out of work that is inefficient and unreliable. And payroll are terrible with frequent mispayments that take a long time to get sorted. No one in the company seems to know what another department is doing and there is no discernible management structure. A real shame on the downfall of what used to be one of the best nursing agencies out there, now it is a corporate machine like all the others. HR Business Partner in Chester, Cheshire
