Most boring job I've had
Customer Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Pwllheli - 9 September 2023
A strange place to work. My branch had a mix of old and newer staff. Old ones were set in their ways and belligerent and unhelpful and quite lazy. New ones were ignored and made unwelcome. Manager was not a team builder and ignored me most days. Pay was almost minimum wage. Hours long and working a Saturday morning every other week meant it was a poor balance. A boring job with boring people to say the least.
Pros
Discount on purchases
Cons
Long hours, low pay, weekend rota, no structure or prospects.

HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver (Former Employee) - Tunbridge Wells, Kent - 6 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Very friendly and light hearted environment to work in. They do however keep changing the hgv driving policies and what you must do and cannot do, personally I hate all the cameras which there are 6 recording your every move, including in the cab facing you, that said if it doesn’t bother you then it’s a nice place to work, I spent 21 years there as a driver. I can recommend them as an employer, most managers are great people persons in my experience, so if your looking for a driving Job then go for it. If it’s shop or yard based I can’t really speak from experience, only that I have never experienced any real issues, I’m not saying it’s perfect, but this company is one of the better companies out there. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? To stick to company policy when your in a hurry. Like most jobs I hate being stuck in traffic. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? As stated it’s a nice friendly environment on the whole. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy , Busy ,Busy never seems enough hours in a day.

Avoid
Yard Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Basingstoke - 2 September 2023
Terrible, management barely on site and made up rules to suit themselves. Never known a yard supervisor spending an hour in the yard and then going to the gym and having days out with the management

Fun, but long hours & no appreciation
Yard Operative (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 1 September 2023
Fun job, good banter but management don’t care about you!! Squeeze you for all you’re worth and when you’ve had enough they get you out the door. Not for me.

Avoid
Tool Hire Assistant / delivery driver (Former Employee) - Cambridge - 17 August 2023
A typical day would start at 7 and supposed to finish at 5, not that I would ever be out on time mostly it was leaving at gone 6 with no overtime pay, tool hire management was incredibly poor it was less ask you to do something and more bully you to do it, he would expect everything to be done whilst he sits at his desk and drinks coffee you have to run around serving and testing tools as well as delivering them it was an utter joke. When your out in the van don’t expect to be able to stop when you get back to branch for lunch as you won’t have time as they will always have another run for you to do or send you some where miles away to pick up things. Hardest part of the day was being there and the most enjoyable was leaving to go home.

Profit driven, stressful, not enough hours in a day!
HGV Class 2 Driver HIAB BRICK GRAB (Current Employee) - Glasgow - 6 August 2023
AS an HGV 2 driver you are pushed to the limit. You will be trained on your HIAB and anything else they may think you can do for them with no offer of more pay. The more you do the more they want and then again.
Cons
Never finished on time. Time owed and never getting it back. Not paid for overtime.

Toxic environment
Yard/warehouse supervisor (Former Employee) - Hampshire - 18 July 2023
Management are bullies, everyone is undervalued and treated bad, including the customers. Total disregard for any personal/home issues or serious illnesses. One or 2 branch managers came across as decent but most, especially mine was a nasty piece of work. Not a good company to work for, betting they won't be around much longer after their price hikes and way they treat their customers.

Toxic environment.
Tool Hire assistant (Former Employee) - Yorkshire and Humberside - 16 July 2023
Jewson was a fantastic company to work for a few years ago with very knowledgeable management. Then things started to change for the worse and most of the Talent left bring in people that don’t have a clue about the industry, meaning customers don’t get the service they once had. The new and useless management then brought there friends along putting them into roles people had been working hard for years to gain. Very annoying. No Progression. Rubbish pay.
Pros
Going home at the end of the day.
Cons
Everything

Like all other big companies, it's all about the money.
Hgv 2 hiab driver (Current Employee) - Paisley - 9 July 2023
Too many disappointments to write about. All been said, it has its pros & cons. I have worked in worse places. Overall good bunch of guys but lacks communication, usual for large outfits like this.

Great place to work except for long hours!
Sales Advisor (Current Employee) - Brighton, East Sussex - 8 July 2023
If you enjoy talking and getting to know a wide range of customers and staff this is a good place to work! Hours may be long, but when its busy it flies by. As with sales job, if the business quietens down you are expected to cold call. In my opinion most builders aren't interested when they are trying to work! If you get on with upper management you will go far. As with most big companies though, the more you work, the more they expect. Could do with more staff across the area. Enjoy the job overall and would recommend it.
