Hardworking
Employee (Former Employee) - England - 5 March 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA good overall work place however I didn’t feel like I was part of a team, as none of the staff communicated with me much. A lot constant work and long shifts. Pay wasn’t great considering the amount of work done however that was expected. They show you how to do things however didn’t have much organisation on scattering job roles for the day as I was on main floor every shift which I didn’t feel was very fair.

Wouldn’t work here
Leisure Assistant (Former Employee) - Wiltshire - 6 November 2023
Typical day at work was exhausting with doing everything for management. While management literally sat in the office doing absolutely nothing. I learnt how to do everything on my own as I had to keep everything together as the building was very run down. Again management is absolutely rubbish and don’t think about their staff at all. Nothing was hard after working there after a week. All came easy considering I was on my own for it. Only enjoyable part was probably getting to know your regulars

Don't work here
Leisure Assistant (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 31 July 2023
It's a horrible place to work the managers are full of them self's and they throw you in the deep end with little to no training. You have no motivation to work as you are paid minimum wage which is not enough if your put on main flour you walk around for 7½ hours with no brake
Pros
Free lunch
Cons
Long hours little pay

Disorganised
Floor Assistant (Former Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 4 April 2022
Colleagues are lovely but very poor pay for the hours and EXTRA hours you a made to work. Disorganised and lack of staff because they are unable to keep due to the bad workplace and management. As well as working nearly 9hrs even though you are getting paid a very poor amount for 7 and a half hours!!

Fast Paced but fun
Leisure Assistant (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 25 June 2021
Fast paced, particularly on the weekends. A great way to start working because you get to do/learn a variety of skills. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, including the customers. As for work-life balance, employees have alot of control and say in which days they are available or unavailable to work.
Pros
Flexible, friendly and free lunches

Fast paced but so enjoyable.
Kitchen Manager (Former Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 24 June 2021
I have worked at Jolly Rogers for years now, I have always been treated fairly and with the upmost respect. It is a fast paced job however that makes the days go quicker and the job itself is easy to learn and rewarding. I have always been paid on time and correctly. There’s also a free lunch which is a yummy bonus on shift! Highly recommend working for this company.
Pros
Lovely staff and managers

Great place to work
Leisure Assistant (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 24 June 2021
Management are very accommodating and flexible, everyone is really friendly and easy to talk to. They provide you with a free lunch and free hot drinks for your break. It can get busy during the weekend and holiday times but it’s nice to work a different pace while it’s busier. When it’s quieter, when children are at school, there are different tasks to do to keep you busy. The shifts are fair between all the staff, everyone works one day of the weekend and shifts are set to the same days each week which I like compared to other companies I have worked for.
Pros
Free lunches, flexible, friendly staff

Friendly Enviroment with supportive management team
Leisure Assistant (Current Employee) - Swindon, UK - 20 June 2021
From day one I was eased into the role with simple tasks and basic jobs like cleaning and tidying building up to the more advanced tasks and given more trust and responsibly the longer I stayed with the company. The management team was flexible with time off and helpful when stuck with tasks I found difficult.
Pros
Free coffee, Free lunch, Flexable days/shift pattern

Terrible Workplace
Leisure Assistant/Cleaner/Receptionist (Former Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 4 June 2020
Had to chase up pay every single month as the pay was correct twice in the nine months I worked there (and was absolute minimum at that). The management is terrible, having no respect for you as an employee. As a couple examples, the manager and owner regularly threatened my job, and on more than one occasion I was shouted at for putting on gloves before cleaning up a childs vomit.
This management issue is most likely due to it being a family run organisation, with the manager being the son of the owner.
The supervisors were very nice people - never had a single issue with them.
Always came home smelling of frying oil, even if I didn't step into the kitchen on that day. The business is heavily lacking hygiene - many corners cut.
DO NOT WORK THERE.
Pros
Free Lunches
Cons
Terrible pay

Jobs at Jolly Roger Adventure
A productive Workplace
Part time leisure assistant (Former Employee) - Swindon - 22 November 2017
A typical day, when I worked at Jolly Roger Adventure, involved me selling admissions to customers as they entered through the reception. I would also occasionally swap over to the Kitchen till and sell food and drinks to customers, whilst promoting certain deals we were offering.
Another part of my job was to make sure the main floor was kept clean. This involved clearing tables and cleaning them as well as high chairs and the sofas.
I would also contribute to the maintaining of the game machines and soft play equipment and monitoring the use of them all.
Cons
Long Hours, One 30 min break
