Bullying culture
Electrical Improver (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 1 August 2023
Bullying culture if your face doesn't fit. Organization is a mess with workers at stand still for days due to lack of materials or planning delays. Low demand on favoured workers. Generally toxic!

Pretty low rates
Crane supervisor/slinger signaller (Current Employee) - London - 11 May 2023
I’ve been working for this company for years and don’t feel very appreciated.. money is not great too...Definitely could be better when it comes to managing , so many people in the office who don’t know their jobs.

Easy
HGV Driver (Former Employee) - Grays, Essex - 4 May 2023
They will make up various lies just to get you sacked if you are not required anymore. Such an idiot for working at this place. Far better jobs out there

Exhausting
Traffic Marshall (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes - 14 April 2023
I worked for them through Randstad in rail project as TM. Very long hours starting from 7am until 6pm with only 10hrs paid. No permanent role offer, no travel benefits, no job security. Exploitation in any way.
Pros
Assigned rate
Cons
Clocking in/out system, Long hours, no benefits, no productivity rewards

Great summer internship
Intern (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 6 January 2023
Good sense of community within the early talent program, with visits to head office throughout. The site experience gained is invaluable as a undergraduate engineer, you are trusted with responsibilities which allow you to learn and develop skills at a fast pace. Placement selection is fairly random with some site jobs much more high paced than others. Your experience is entirely down to the site you are assigned to.
Pros
Community, responsibility
Cons
commute

Jobs at Laing O'Rourke
Forward Thinking for Construction
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) - London - 20 December 2022
Biggest and most challenging projects in the UK, the widest range of engineering knowledge and skills in the industry (UK) with own MEP, structural, facade departments. Good benefits including paternity leave and progressive (for the construction industry).
Pros
Salary, Wfh, support from seniors, clear vision from seniors, paid back COVID salary reductions to staff as "productivity bonus", great progression
Cons
Poor performing employees moved from job to job, despite consistently failing and causing project issues, long working hours when required (manage this yourself and LM to take time back).

You don’t get promoted unless you know your boss well
Site Engineer (Former Employee) - Bridgwater, Somerset - 8 November 2022
In some ways they are good, only management is very poor, lack of support for your progression specifically in Hinkley project in Somerset. The allowance that they give is not enough for Accomodation.
Pros
You got all the tools and training you need
Cons
Poor management

Overall not a bad company to work for. No career progession
Lead Procurement Manager (Former Employee) - London Heathrow Airport/Thames Water - 26 September 2022
A typical day could be good/bad and stressful just be prepared despite having an agreed TES in place. There were management issues as some did not have right background skills or experience to fulfil roles at that level and rarely got involved to resolve issues when raised. Great people to work with, but not all particularly those came through agency on a temporary contract basis to adapt to LOR way of working. The hardest part of the job was working with those who worked with the company over a short period assisting as they were not familar with systems. Company did nothing to retain.

No briefings no sense of direction or inclusion. Manager gives little information on each task. Have not seen a drawing in the 2 months I've been working here

I have been with the company for just over four years now and in the time I've been there, I have always been very well supported and developed. I have great work colleagues and peers which enables us to work together proactively. I would always recommend working at LOR!

Ok
Industrial Cleaner/Labourer (Former Employee) - Sellafield, Cumbria - 19 May 2022
Easy job for the money. Management is very helpful if you have a problem. If you keep your head down you will be okay. The vans are quite new normally less than 3 years. As long as you do your work noone will bother you.
