Professional setup, unfair Pay and annoying booking policy
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 11 February 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe company provides detailed professional guidelines and online training to help the interpreters to do the job right. Most of the colleagues are helpful and polite. However, quite often, it took a long time to get any respond to my queries. Clients tend to no-show and book a much longer session whereas I am only paid for the time waited or worked but not the time booked. This is not really fair for the interpreters. The system of using phone to confirm and reminding booking actually increases the workload for the booking department and annoys the interpreters.
Pros
Detailed professional guideline and setup, Online training.
Cons
Paid for the time waited or worked but not the time booked, Using phone to confirm booking and remind upcoming appointments is inefficient and annoying.

Worst company ever
Interpreter (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 11 August 2023
They pay you 3 pounds for a booking that should last 2 hours. They book you in advance and if the client doesn’t join they pay you Ridiculous amounts.

The work is extremely responsible and socially useful.
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Rochdale - 6 July 2022
Helping people in a difficult time is priceless. The hardest part of the job is the ling travel distance. The best of all is that I learn more, I help people, I feel better me. There is a good communication and you can accept the job or not.

Avoid at all costs!
Bookings Coordinator (Current Employee) - Rochdale - 4 July 2022
As someone who currently works all I can say is stay clear of this place. There’s no management, Everything is all over the place. No structure Wrong people get managerial roles. This place will make you train new starters and give you no recognition or support. You do a dogs graft for peanuts. Absolutely horrendous this place, people are only stuck here because it’s convenient for them and close to home.
Pros
Free Car park
Cons
Everything. It’s always cold no one puts the heating on, the whole management is a disaster Pay is absolutely rubbish.

No bookings for months on end and need to work as be self employed, No job security or benefits
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Leeds - 8 February 2022
Rude staff, very unfriendly and unprofessional. Would never recommend anyone to join here they do not show appreciation after 4 years of being with them, still on the bottom band group for work. So experience doesn’t count and would be lucky if you got a booking in months. There is no loyalty or appreciation for long time interpreters at this company
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Never any hours available for work in my local areas. They put profit before client needs

Long hours no rewards
Recruitment and Account Manager (Former Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 16 July 2021
Very long hours and an idea of a pay increase from Language Empire was 50p per hour! Would not recommend, people you work with are nice but the work environment was like a school yard, petty arguments
Pros
Nothing
Cons
No recognition

For me personally was a great experience working with Language Empire I was well informed and reminded of all my bookings, always a call away and very helpful. Well done for all the improvements and Thank you for all the opportunities to work in my past. I also appreciate your timely payments and the whole of Empire Team being a pleasure to work with.

Incompetent job allocators, do not take complaints very well!
Interpreting (Former Employee) - North East - 27 June 2020
0 hour contract!
I am an experienced interpreter and I have completed a degree when interviewed by Language empire! They phone me and asked many questions from summer to winter I were waiting for the recruitment to sort out my profile and offer me a job. Finally there was a nice one nice person who chased it and completed it. I started with a low pay band and later realised they are putting others with no experience on the same band.however I have received an update that I am moved to a next pay band but unfortunately the job allication was poor and they were giving wrong address and wrong sheet and blaming me for the job. I have received fines and very basic jobs which I then decided to give up. Funny enough they still send me jobs which I ignored!
They had not received many jobs when I logged into inline portal at nights the jobs were already cherry picked! Not many left
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything that they did

My Experience
Recruitment Administrator (Former Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 10 April 2020
This company is a good one for starting advancement within the bulk recruiting field. The pay doesn’t reflect the job you are asked to do and the amount of stress that this entails although a jobs a job.

A typical day and the productivity to all staff members per each day.
Freelance Greek Translator and Interpreter (Current Employee) - Rochdale - 24 February 2020
As I am still in the process of completing my registration with Language Empire I would strongly genuinely recommend that they do pragmatise more research with their allocation of further and constant job marketing as well as do discover more job venues not only locally but also more nationwide orientated. As honestly speaking as it can possibly be I do strongly recommend that they take this job placement too seriously as at the end of the day we put forward and at risk not only our lives, financial entities and our safety to put it more generally and honestly speaking but also everything else.It is a two way process and everything is interdependent.

Not great
Portuguese Interpreter (Current Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 29 January 2020
For me the most difficult part is they call you all day to offer jobs that they now it's not in your area, they also know the time you`d be available for jobs and they insist in calling you to offer jobs that it won't be possible to take.
Also a big bureaucracy to get the job sheet and post online, you can't cancel the jobs online, you need to call them. Sometimes they won't take your call and they take a really long time to answer your email.

Extremely challenging and energetic
English Interpreter (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 19 December 2019
At the start of this great and unique job, I was so stressed (I had no idea at all), however greatly, the excellent team of Empire Language were so helpful and supportive in guiding and advising me to stay strong and stable in my position. To be honest I has so happy and exited about my job, and I really enjoyed any seconds of my job experience.
Pros
Having the right to choose to accept the assignment
Cons
Far distances to the offered assignment places

Worst place I have ever worked
Office Assistant (Former Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 15 December 2019
This is the worst place I have ever worked! This company is a joke! From the complete overselling of themselves at interview down to them not paying me each month.
The building is cold - sub zero temperatures and we were not allowed a heater to aid "cost saving". I became very poorly due to this and was penalised when I phoned in sick.
When the inspector comes you are sent in in groups so you can't speak freely and they pressure you to put a good review about the company on glassdoor.
The MD races around in his BMW and wonders why he crashes and frankly the company's reputation comes before it after just being to court for stealing other interpretation companies identity and business.
Take my advice DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH IT!

Productive working environment and good management
Administrator (Current Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 10 October 2019
I have worked for Language Empire for just short of 2 years and I have progressed within the company. The managing director is very much involved with the running of the business and likes to give all employees new opportunities. You get out what you put in and if you work hard it pays off.
All the departments communicate within the office and is always a good environment to be in. Management is great - all are fair and understanding. The managers are the best I have ever worked with really , I actually look forward to coming into work in the morning.
