Difficult customers, no pay increase
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - Home Based - 15 May 2023
I work as an interpreter (causal) and many times it can be very stressful to deal with customers. I interpret for the company. I do not deal with management per se, except for exchange of e-mails. I joined the organisation in 2018 and since then, there has been no increase in pay. Initially, I used to get calls from USA, enabled me to work during evenings, but that stopped. No calls, No pay! Every hour I work feels very tiring, Its more worth working in a shop if the timing suited. It was worth it when I was earning twice the amount of a retail worker but their salary is catching up.
Pros
Freedom
Cons
No work available 6pm. No increase in pay.

Not well paid
Interpreter (Former Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 9 May 2023
There’s lots of work, but mostly bit far from the area you are working. Plus, you get a job of 3 hours and sometimes you only work 30mns and get paid for an hour, disrupting all your budget planning for the month. Another negative plus is that they close your hours every 25th of each mont and you only get paid by the end of the next month, so it’s almost one and a half month to get paid for uncertain hours. The management team are ok to work with, but the company, due to what I stated above, wouldn’t recommend.

Culture needs a revamp
Complaints Handler (Former Employee) - Canary Wharf, Greater London - 21 April 2023
They need to get managers who are about Innovation and integrity. Not managers who care more about their title than actually supporting their team. HR and other seniors managers from other departments are great but overall it was not for me. The culture need revamping it's not about just hiring POC to look diverse. The manager I had needs to practice treating people fairly.
Pros
HR lady was friendly and tried to help
Cons
The manager of this role was more of a bossy boots han a leader

Great place to join
HR (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 11 February 2023
I have been working for LLS UK for a few months now and I really enjoy my role, the support I've been asked to give and everything I have learnt in only a few months from my colleagues, my team and my manager. I couldn't rate the teams any higher. They are fantastic, supportive, collaborative and super friendly.
Pros
New office, WFH/Remote working, friendly staff, supportive management
Cons
some long hours as we are busy

Amazing company to work for
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - Remote - 20 January 2023
I’ve been working at LLS for more than 3 years now as a telephone interpreter. It’s a freelance flexible job that pays good rate per hour. I don’t have to worry about travelling or commuting as the job is remote and it’s very easy to use their app where you log in to start receiving phone calls. The workflow is quite heavy for my languages but I can’t complain at all, at the contrary as long as there is client demand it keeps me busy and it’s even better to make a little bit of extra money. With this job you can keep a balance between your personal life and professional life. Basically, you are your own boss so you can manage your own workload, working hours, target… etc. The only cons is that you are only paid per worked minute and not per logged minute.

Not worth getting out of the bed for the pay.
Language interpreter (Current Employee) - Greater London - 17 August 2022
It often takes an hour to travel to the job, one hour to get the job done, and one hour to get back home, not taking into account the cost of a cup coffee or a sandwich on the way or taking into account the traveling expenses all that for a mere £16 per hour pay, when you think it takes 3 hours to do a one hour job it simply is not worth getting out of bed for it.

Mostly positive experiences
Telephone Itnterpreter (Current Employee) - London - 31 May 2022
As a freelance interpreter you choose when you want to work. However only getting paid by the minute for actual calls means some waiting between calls. Not a well paid job when you consider the majority of calls are of a sensitive nature.Health, police, social services). Great as an extra earner if you want to work from home. Your first 6 months will be a massive learning curve of translating with new vocabulary and taking notes efficiently.

Only good if you want to get experience working as an interpreter
PSI-Public service Interpreter (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 22 January 2022
Salary is below minimum salary as you are self employed, take 20% out of what they offer you, doesn't cover any expenses, take the amount of time and petrol to get to the appointment and you'll get paid peanuts. If you have another full time paid job, it is not worth working here. Salary depends on what you work.
Pros
Getting some experience in the field
Cons
No full time salary

straightforward, fair and supportive
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Coventry, West Midlands - 26 May 2021
In simple words, I have good experience and very helpful management support. Working is simplified, straightforward and most of all reliable. Whatever you agree or were told by any of the seniors, rest assured that it will be done exactly as agreed. Free courses and webinars are provided.

Best Agency for interpreter
Freelance Interpreter (Former Employee) - Birmingham - 8 May 2021
I have worked as an interpreter for many Agencies. Language Line was the best in my opinion. First it was a proper language test with another person who was speaking both languages I was supposed to interpret for, simulating a doctor and hospital appointment. None of the other Agencies had a proper language test. I had support when needed and the payment was better compared to other Agencies. Everything really was very professional.
Pros
Professional, supportive and well paid.
Cons
None

Good experience
Interpreter (Former Employee) - Leeds - 20 July 2020
It is a good experience of using both languages to help people in hospitals. The company provided enough information about the patients.
Sometimes however I had to travel very far from where I live and the travel cost a lot than I expected.

Productive company
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - Canary Wharf, Greater London - 27 May 2020
I am a freelance interpreter, so I wouldn't have the overall picture, but I am very satisfied with the way my manager is there for me to help me any time I need it!
