Areas for improvement

They want teacher dedication for little pay
Functional Skills Tutor (Former Employee) - England - 30 April 2022
Was working with young adults to improve skills and learning, marking policy, lesson plans, update curriculum, exam prep all the usual were expected including working as many hours you needed to get it done with a fraction of teacher pay. Little time was given to allow for prep, expected to have lunch with learners, no actual breaks. Not the job applied for. The students can be lovely or violent depending on the day behaviour policies not implemented
Pros
It pays a wage
Cons
Long hours and pressure

Training sessions were excellent quality but not followed up in work place for actual assessment, the role I had did not lead onto career progression good to work for,

Lead employer
Teacher (Former Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 21 February 2022
Employed by county but line manager is the actual place you work. Won't give HR advice to the employee. It has to be via your line manager. Makes solving issues difficult

Perfect for those who are career driven and enjoy working along side a team that have the same goals.
Business Support Assistant (Former Employee) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire - 1 February 2022
Perfect for those who are career driven and enjoy working along side a team that have the same goals. The organisation work extremely hard to make sure they keep their brand promise and that all the employees are heard and treated respectfully.

Work life balance
Business Support Officer (Current Employee) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire - 5 January 2022
Great pension, great benefits, remote working for some roles. Friendly environment. Management is good. Good salary and transparency about pay. Council is a slow moving beast sometimes.

Remote working, relaxed environment
Cons
Large organisation, doesn’t like change

Extremely busy environment and poor management
Cco (Current Employee) - Adults - 21 December 2021
Unsupported, over worked, no time to complete work tasks poor management only working from home in Covid as government says. No guidance to follow when completing work so nobody knows the right way.
Pros
!! Can’t think of any at minute
Cons
Large case loads, no support

Look after yourself
Undisclosed (Former Employee) - Lincolnshire - 17 August 2021
Look after yourself, document everything, keep correspondence, stay strong, have self belief, be mindful of cliques and relationships that go back to the year dot. Listen more than you speak, keep your head down, take time for you, don’t give anyone your all when you are only an option to them. If you know truly what passion in life is - do that - go and follow it

Jobs at Lincolnshire County Council
Over worked
Supply Teacher (Current Employee) - Lincoln - 31 July 2021
You are expected to work through your lunch, unpaid, and attend daily meetings, unpaid. People who do the same job as you are all paid differently. I though5 it would be a good place to work. But it is hard to get through hr department for interviews. I’ve applied for many jobs, most I’m over qualified for. Finance department is awful...six months I’m still on emergency tax despite myself ringing tax office many times and they email correct code,..
Pros
Pension
Cons
Long hours

Research Your Place of Work
Residential Care Officer (Current Employee) - South Lincolnshire - 17 June 2021
I am in my 11th month, and now on my fourth manager! Safe to say I did not know the reputation of this venue before I started. It is a small team and can sometimes be frustrating if some of the team have their own agenda.
Pros
Free Food. Good chunks of the week off.
Cons
12/24 hour shifts.

Supportive work environment with lots of room for progression.
Lincolnshire (Current Employee) - Lincolnshire - 24 May 2021
I've loved every minute since I joined the council last year as a BSA. After 4 months I've from Grade 3 to Grade 5, there are progression opportunities out there if you work hard enough for them. My managers were more than supportive and I've genuinely never felt more appreciated or part of a team than I did in my first role with LCC and I'm sure my new role will be just as good. Business Support can be competitive with lots of applicants for jobs but who doesn't like a little competition eh?. The flexible working patterns mean I have a great work life balance and coming from retail getting weekends and Bank Holidays off is a bonus. I would definitely recommend applying to join LCC.
Pros
Work Life balance, progression opportunities, fkexible working, management, ability to WFH
Cons
Sometimes the work can be repetitive.

Great team spirit
Personal Assistant (Current Employee) - Home Based - 4 May 2021
A lovely place to work with great people. Even through a pandemic the focus on staff and wellbeing has been exceptional. Management provide a strong culture and flexible approach to work.

Ok, but not for the faint hearted
Business Support Assistant (Current Employee) - Lincolnshire - 25 February 2021
I work as a Business Support Assistant and I neither look forward to nor dread my work. You need to have good initiative and confidence to solve problems as well as be proactive. Training is 'in the deep end and you are expected to hit the ground running Having worked in three different teams, I cannot believe I have been paid at the same grade across all three. From next to no work and responsibility to a busy, fast-paced pile of work I don't have enough time for. There is next to no consistency across business support teams. But a major pro is the incredible flexibility offered. If I work late one afternoon I start late the next day, or bank it towards a full day off. 24 days annual leave +bh's is lousy though compared to 30+ elsewhere. Decent pension, supportive managers, friendly overall. Can be clicky but where isn't? A major con is the absolute absence of any progression opportunities in business support. You are competing with hundreds of others (internal and external) for a handful of promotions annually, which you have to apply for. It helps if your face fits. There is no training relating to the service you support. I find myself envious of the knowledge, work and salary of those i support, having little means to join them. You are an administrator and they want you to stay one rather than developing to the point you can cross into 'service' where you can actually earn a proper salary and meet your potential.
Pros
Flexible working, interesting work
Cons
No progression opportunities

Could be worse
Reparation & Intervention Worker (Former Employee) - Lincolnshire - 29 August 2020
Loved the job but my department manager and his manager above were in it for the money and the position and cared more about keeping that then the clients and the workforce
Pros
Great job
Cons
Poor poor department management

Nepotism and racism
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Lincoln - 28 July 2020
I was set upon because I built up good relationships with fellow professionals. I was racially abused in front of management who shrugged it off. The job itself was brilliant and a minority of staff were incredible. This clique of supervisors and people who had been there forever was too overbearing
Pros
Learned alot, made a few decent friends
Cons
Backstabbing, nepotism, poor management and racist team

A good place to work but decisions have a long process time
Sustainable Travel Officer (Former Employee) - Grantham Street, Lincoln - 1 April 2020
I have really enjoyed working for this organisation however it takes a long time for the decision process and senior management are not as future focused as most other Local Authorities.
