Family run Group
Sales Admini (Current Employee) - Coventry - 23 May 2023
I have worked at listers for coming up to 6 years. The company offers good company benefits including car scheme, private healthcare. Working at Listers you will be in a fast paced environment however the colleagues make the days better. There is a great team ethic and everyone is always willing to help others.
Pros
Friendly colleagues, staff benefits, you can gain additional qualifications
Cons
Fast Paced environment can sometimes cause stress levels to increase

Long hours and no recognition
Manager (Current Employee) - Coventry, West Midlands - 20 April 2023
Management are clueless and have not got an idea about their jobs and have been promoted/or applied for their positions. Listers reputation will suffer in the long run with this style of management. Very much a boys club and if your face fits etc.
Pros
Nice cars to drive
Cons
salaries are low, heavily OTE which is archaic nowadays.

Nice products, poor senior management, PLC culture
Technician (Former Employee) - Worcestershire - 16 April 2023
My manager was a really nice bloke, really supportive at times of need and ask him to do something he would get it done or point you towards someone who could get it done. I'd happily work for that manager again at another company. The problem was the hours and salery, salery was not competitive compared to other dealer groups in the area, the bonus was excellent...until you hit it regularly and the senior management flag you up as earning too much and change your structure so you earn £3-400 less a month so they can line their own pockets and pretend that they're carrying out Tory style austerity measures. The hours are very long compared to other dealer groups, no flexible hours and you don't get paid overtime only standard rate. Something that's not mentioned at interview or offer stage. Training is excellent, Listers do keep by their word by sending staff on lots of training which is rare. Listers are not the worst company I have worked for but they need to stop pretending to be a PLC and reduce management headcount and stop gaslighting their staff in pretending that they pay industry leading salaries when they don't. The jobs there would suit single childless men and women who don't mind working long hours.
Pros
Nice products, great training, Listers benifits schemes are good, line manager very good
Cons
Long hours, plc culture, pay, greedy head of business and directors/divisional managers

Your face has to fit
Sales (Former Employee) - Droitwich, Worcestershire - 12 March 2023
First impressions were good however that didn’t last unfortunately. I was happy and settled doing the job I was employed to do but significant and unpopular changes were made by senior management to how we worked resulting in a lot of unrest and bought morale to an all time low and it’s difficult to work well in a negative environment. I generally got on well with my colleagues some of whom were great people but there were also others that were not so pleasant. Could be very ruthless and cut throat. The actual job was fine, it’s really down to the culture and senior management that upset the apple cart- if it ain’t broke, why fix it? It’s definitely a case of whether your face fits. Life is too short to be unhappy at work.
Pros
Some of the colleagues I had the pleasure of working with.
Cons
Not a pleasant culture / working environment

Great Place to work
Sales Executive (Current Employee) - Boston, Lincolnshire - 2 March 2023
I have been working for this company for 8 month now and every single person I know told me that I shouldn't come to work here, it is good that I didn't listen! This place is really great, full off protentional and opportunities, most importantly the people are genuinely amazing and working environment really nice too. Management is keen for you to progress and helps a long the way. Just to put into perspective, I travel 1h one way to work here, so you be a judge of that! You get what you put and there is no way about it.
Pros
Great team

Poor place to work - no support
Administrator (Former Employee) - Droitwich, Worcestershire - 25 February 2023
I worked for Listers in Droitwich about 12 years ago, thought I had got the best job ever but couldn't have been more wrong. They sacked me after 3 weeks cause I hadn't picked the job up quick enough. Promised me the earth but delivered nothing. Worse company ever, stay well clear no matter what they promise you.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Rubbish comany

Jobs at Listers
Sales Exec
Sales Executive (Former Employee) - Hull - 25 December 2022
Management hit and miss, claim to be a family friendly company and promise you every other weekend off but this rarely happens if a customer wants to pick up their car on your weekend off. Colleagues ace, some management utterly useless. Definitely a younger person’s job,
Pros
Company car, decent commission
Cons
70 hour weeks are not unheard of

The managers do not care about you at all and will use you as much as they like and give promise and don’t keep it and also the higher manger at very bad too the company only cares about numbers if and all you are to them is a number and they will replace you at any time with no reason I was working there for almost 2 years and they replace me for no reason and they will get ride of you on the day very disrespectful. Highly recommend working for someone else
Pros
Company car

Great company to work for
Warranty Administrator (Current Employee) - Shirley, West Midlands - 10 November 2022
Have been with Listers almost 15 years and still everyday I get up and want to go to work. Great people I work with, great management team onsite, great company to work for and feel I am treated extremely well. It’s a very busy environment and can be challenging but any different it would be boring. You are rewarded for working hard and I have found the company to be very accommodating when needing to leave early for personal things, the main thing is that the managers door is always open, doesn’t even have to be a work issue, anything from family problems or just need someone to listen, yes targets can be high and challenging, but that makes it all the more better when you smash them.

Great environment with good atmosphere.
workshop controller/diagnostic technician. (Current Employee) - Lexus Cheltenham - 23 August 2022
I have been working for Listers for 25yrs now, and in that time I have always felt respected and have been looked after by managers over the years and most of whom have given me support through challenging times at work and away from work. Throughout my time with Listers I have also found it to be fun and its important to be able to have fun while putting a shift in. (Yes it can be done). I have always found that if you work hard then you are rewarded in many ways and this is also where you earn the most important thing and that is respect. Yes there will be tough days and the job can be and is stressful a lot of the time but knowing you are appreciated helps you cope with it.
Pros
Respect/support/rewards.
Cons
I am not going to lie there will be cons but I am sure the pros out weigh.

Oppressive culture
High performer (Former Employee) - Lincolnshire - 3 August 2022
Inappropriate management styles (people promoted to mgr position as a retention strategy, with poor people mgmt skills) and too much micro-management, meant they did not get the best out of people, leading to high staff turnover. Renumeration for sales lower than other industries, due to competition from online and distributive strategy businesses. Poor work-life balance. Not recommended

No work life balance
General Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire - 22 April 2022
If you are happy to give up having a life outside work, this is the company to work for. They pay well but your personal life's suffers, and the answer when asking for some flexibility is to say its the Motor trade get over it....Well the 1980s wants its attitude back. There are better companies to work for. You are expendable, never forget this.
