Stressful pressure massive targets
Sales Advisors (Current Employee) - Uk - 6 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedTypical day involves exploring the store and getting customers back to counter Massive target's, over 100% of weekly counter target for small amount of hours worked ,same Massive target's no matter if store on a city or a small town, Target's unreasonable and unrealistic so expect to be put on improvement plans which are never ending, with threat of dismissal lurking , always offering support with getting target's but felt more like micromanagement which is extremely stressful on a weekly basis, Uniform not great Boots is so short staffed you are always pulled away from counter to help Boots customers making it more difficult to make own target's and putting up with abuse from frustrated customers at the lack of staff, big management more interested in profit over staff welfare and customer service, You see the worst of customers and the best. I enjoyed my days with Boots colleagues ,support offered by Boots management but they are far to busy to actually support but the stress to make target's ruins the job. Target oriented, no commission although sent box of product's monthly, high expectations for rubbish pay, enforce change of hours despite being employed to do set days, They do put you through a proper skin school qualification that is recognised so gives more confidence to help customers so that is positive however trying to find time for training is difficult on short hours
Pros
Recognised skin qualification
Cons
Pressure for targets

Great coworkers, WBA ruined the brand
Prefer not to say (Former Employee) - Prefer not to say - 2 October 2023
Liz Earle would be a great place to work if it wasn’t for the continuous restructures from their parent company WBA. The Boots culture has ruined the feel of working for a special brand. Job security is non existent as Boots merge with Liz Earle more and more every year combining roles. Colleagues are nice and friendly but sad to see the business they love get stripped away bit by bit. Many have moved on because of this. Likely to end up just another brand on the shelf of Boots one day.

An eye opener ! The company needs to get with the times
Beauty Consultant (Former Employee) - Edinburgh - 26 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Dead end job , with no progression , awful uniform , awful monthly allocation. Old stock given to staff ! Not asked what they would like , no incentive. Target driven whish is not achievable! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? All stressful , no recognition for your hard work ! Managers simply don't care What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The staff are lovely but are not rewarded for their efforts! What is a typical day like for you at the company? Sell sell traffic stop , like a robot . Stressful

Good working environment
HR Advisor (Former Employee) - Isle of Wight - 31 May 2023
Great team, some good benefits. Ownership by Boots changed the feel of the business, and not for the better. Difficult to see any progression or development opportunities.

Great company with good benefits but no commission. Uniform was dated but I believe they have a new one now. Pay is reflected on your experience in this field of work

Lovely company
Counter Manager (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 3 April 2023
Liz Earle itself is a really lovely company to work for, always somebody available for support if needed and have found it a really nice work environment. Area managers are lovely and always available for help.

Good training
Beauty Consultant (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 13 February 2023
The training was good, had alot to learn. Management was OK, the store I worked in was not the most friendly, heavily target driven, I have worked for worse positions

Terrible company to work for
Customer Advisor (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 14 December 2022
The company doesn’t care for their colleagues anymore they set you unrealistic targets and expect you to reach them without an excuse. The Managers never know what they’re doing and will call you out for underachieving. The hours are long and it can get very boring. The training is all online so they want you to learn without actually having someone to guide you through and there’s no point asking the Manager. I regret working for this company because it mentally drained me
Pros
- 75% off skincare - Hour long lunch - Online training
Cons
- Management - Sense of belonging is nonexistent - Pay is terrible

Good salary
Counter Manager (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 12 December 2022
I really enjoyed working for the brand but it does depend where you work. Some Boots are better than others. A fantastic discount and allocation is a winner whoever at the end of my time there, all the enjoyment was zapped out of the job. Once it was bought over by Boots the dynamic changed however a lovely brand with great discount and great products that I still buy.
Pros
Great discount
Cons
No room to grow

Worst place I’ve ever worked
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 29 October 2022
My summary says it all. Worst place I’ve ever worked. Poor management, unrealistic targets, unbelievably boring. Product allocation is made up of old stock they couldn’t sell. Often well past expiration.
Pros
You get paid.
Cons
It sucks

Avoid
Counter Manager (Former Employee) - Liz earle - 4 October 2022
Unrealistic expectations, constant change in management meaning no real direction or support. Mental health not taken seriously and they didn’t even know the right procedure, dreading mondays incase called out for not achieving targets and demotivating. Ugly uniform, this job has been the worst unfortunately

Fun and rewarding company
Counter Manager (Former Employee) - Oxford Street - 23 March 2022
Senior management are passionate and supportive, some of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with. A purpose driven company that genuinely cares for its staff. Free goody box every month, but could do with more opportunities in head office, it’s hard to progress outside of further retail positions.

Disappointing company
Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 17 March 2022
Was very excited to work for the first skincare brand I ever used First staff were very friendly and helpful and I was really excited about the job. Quickly realised that it was a very toxic environment, nobody showed any loyalty. Management did not seem to know how to manage correctly, everything was half done, then when pulled up about it blame was put on me. Didn't get a till code for 7 weeks had to ask myself. Manager has a very demoralising attitude towards lower staff members, a little bit of kindness wouldn't go a miss. Didn't get the Jo malone candle for our team winning the Christmas incentive, when asking why, manager said maybe because I was new. We are One team... Yet 2/3 get the reward. Did not feel part of a team. Difficult store environment, mis management Still awaiting my pay, 2 months later... Still awaiting a response from my grievence 6 weeks later. Poor communication from such a well known company. Overall a real disappointment
Pros
Free monthly skincare
Cons
Lack of direction from management

Stressful at times but lack of attention from some.
Fulfilment Assistant (Former Employee) - Isle of Wight - 23 December 2021
Very toxic environment for young people, often experienced older colleagues mocking or poking fun at others. The fast paced environment is manageable.

Not the company it used to be
Therapist (Former Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 9 August 2020
No scope for progression, management not interested in any part of the business unless it involves selling products, meeting targets and filling in yet more duplicate paperwork. High turnover of area managers, so nothing gets done as it's one in, one out. The products have been made lesser quality over the years, yet the prices go up. The customers are aware of this and tell us this frequently.
It's not the company it used to be, cannot recommend working here. The allocations you receive each month are always out of date, which says something about the direction the company is heading in. If you can't sell it, give it away to the employees and call it a bonus!
Pros
Can work part-time
Cons
Too many to list!

Changed alot and not for the better
Liz Earle Account Manger (Current Employee) - West Midlands - 28 July 2020
I absolutely love working with these products, and loved my job when I first started.
However since the brand joined with no7 things seem to have gone down hill drastically, poor communication, no one ever seems to know who to contact, hardly any area managers any more, there seems to be no one to turn to. The brand seem to have lost all the great values they used to hold which is such a shame
Pros
Pay well, good discount, free products
Cons
Poor communication, changed as a brand.

Lovely company
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 21 June 2020
Liz Earle was a nice company to work for with lovely staff members. Not a lot of products so you can learn them quickly. Not very busy at some points, so you really have to try and pull customers to the brand. The monthly products is a great benefit and nice way to make staff feel valued.
Pros
Monthly products, Lovely brand and easy to the learn ingredients, Nice staff members
Cons
Too much paper work (old system), Uniform, too outdated and uncomfortable, . Really long hours and Products are not as popular so you can get bored.

Terrible - do not recommend
Beauty Consultant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 3 May 2020
i defiantly do not recommend to work in this company! i was bullied out of it by my counter manager and they favourited another member of staff over me who got the “privilege” to become a counter manager in another store.. b**chy/gossipy no training what so ever i was supposed to go to the isle of white one month then it was moved to another month and delayed again, i found out other collegues who started at the same time of me in different stores had gone for their training, counter manager was horrible hanged up on me, other counters in my store were botching, worst company ever!!!
