About Us
LLG NW LTD was founded by Danny Lewtas in 2012 following being made redundant from Yodel.
The business started with 4 vans, 4 drivers and has grew massively over the last 9 years, going from strength to strength taking on new contracts with some of the logistics industries biggest and most influential companies.
Danny started as a driver in 2006 and found it hard to get a role in the logistics industry. All the companies advertising roles needed drivers to have their own vans or make payments up front, which simply wasn't possible, but after approaching over 40 vehicle sales companies, he managed to purchase a 6 year old van on finance and was able to start working for DHL, later to become Yodel.
When he was made redundant, Danny saw the opportunity to start a company up with the ambition of having some major contracts, the main business model was to enable those who wanted to work, but could not afford to work, to be able to do so, without expecting large upfront payments or people with their own vehicles - opening up the market to so many people who are not fortunate enough to have financial backing to be able to start a career in logistics.
Luke Boyd was one of LLG's first employee's in 2012. Starting as a delivery courier around the L14 area of Liverpool. 19 years old with the ambition of buying a nice car, since then he has risen through the ranks of lead driver, site manager, regional manager to his current position as Managing Director, responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations.
LLG is unique in the way it operates, offering daily van rental to its partners, at a competitive rate of £32.98 per day inclusive of insurance, with only a £500 damage excess, where all its competitors charge weekly van rental, high damage charges and the drivers may only get 3 days’ work a week, but still must pay for the full weekly rental on the van! LLG does not charge deposits, no up-front costs, no charge for wear and tear, no charge for liability insurance, no charge for goods in transit insurance, the list of what the company doesn’t charge literally goes on and on, proving that LLG has its drivers at the front of everything they do.
The financial position of LLG is strong, with over 90% of its vehicles owned, with 65% of assets owned outright without finance, this allows more money to be reinvested into the business to enable it to cap damages at £500 for the first accident, not charge admin fee’s or off the road charges, reduce rental costs right down and invest the sheer amount of money it takes to offer the daily van rental solution – because it is the ethical thing to do!
LLG has not been without its problems, Danny himself will openly admit that through his journey running the group, he has been “learning on the job” and didn’t always get things right, from poor financial decisions to poor selection of management, whilst his vision has always been to build a business that is for the people and about the people, as the business grew, and he was unable to control every aspect of the operation, some individuals did take the business in the wrong direction.
Following a heart attack in 2019, Danny made some radical changes, and is constantly reviewing driver engagement and happiness through the drive and support of his Director Luke, who is also passionate about building the business in the right way, our latest internal driver survey score showed a massive 4.5 out of 5 current happiness score (Survey results available on 09/08/2021, from a sample of 72 drivers) showing some massive progress from previous years and showing the appointment of Luke Boyd as Director, and the subsequent restructure of the company’s management team and processes, has really made a difference in turning the company back in the right direction, the Danny direction.
