Undertaking service and maintenance requests, paying invoices and speaking with colleagues. Raising orders and keeping an up-to-date servicing and compliance matrix e.g. risk assessments, boiler servicing. Then raising the orders with contractors to carry out the works when required.
Ok company but being a council in the public sector making any worker a civil servant, you find yourself competing and struggling to be noticed and survive in an environment that was not nice.
A typical day at work involve educating the public on waste and recycling policy and regulating the waste collection within the borough through monitoring.
I have acquired excellent communication skills.
I had supportive and hard working management.
Friendly supportive culture.
The hardest part of the job is handling the large workload.
The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to help people.
Pros

Sort manager’s emails using Outlook and responding to those relating to meeting requests.
Picking up on high priority emails from MPs, Councillors, Ward Members and correspondent letters from TfL and the members of the public and making sure they are logged tracked and followed up using the in house database system (PAL)
Divert emails requiring urgent action to appropriate delegates.
Operating a brought forward system in paper and electronic format using Outlook.
Arranging meetings internal and external and organising refreshments.
Taking minutes.
Undertaking word processing duties, including formatting documents, typing of letters, reports, spreadsheets and Power Point presentations as required.
Handling telephone calls and enquiries of schemes and consultations from members of the public and forward them on to the appropriate person or department.
All add hoc duties which include binding of documents, photocopying, faxing, scanning documentations as required and store electronically into management filing system and archiving. Assisting with organising department events.
Liaising with management on a day to day basis and providing support and holiday cover to the Deputy Director whilst his PA and secretary are away.p
