Meter installer
Company is overburdened with red tape and box ticking and ever waiting to shaft you if you make a mistake. Unreasonable planning on driving to work location…drive 4 hours with 6 hours plus work. Can’t plan routes, Engineer takes full responsibility for any job aborts regardless If error made elsewhere…supplier bad bookings, planning failures, very poor electrical equipment belonging to the 2000’s . …all add up to personal “ engineer aborts” and little chats about performance. …even though 98% plus aborts are unavoidable. Performance Bonus is a joke ..unless you live and work in a new town with new meter almost make it impossible to earn extra. Work on old equipment and it’s impossible.

Very very boring job with no breaks
Went up to Basingstoke to train up as a meter reader, we were told people were caught at the Golf course when they were supposed to be doing there job. And they were sacked, it gave you the impression the company thinks everyone is going to be dodging doing the work they are supposed to be doing. Then we are told there is a massive staff turnover, employees dont stay with the company long, someone seems to be leaving every week. And i was told the job involves lots of variety traveling to different places in your designated area. When in fact the job involved going to the same City everyday and walking from house to house you walk 6 miles a day at least. The job is incredibly boring and you need breaks to stop you going insane from the bordom, but you arent allowed breaks, only one break a day and that was half an hour for lunch. When its raining you walk from house to house getting drenched, when its hot its difficult to find shade to park your Car.There is nothing positive about working for this company its boring, i dont understand other meter readers saying its a great job, what is great about walking from house to house in the most run down dangerous areas, with dangerous dogs behind every door?. With no breaks with this job you need breaks to stop your self getting bored to death.Nothing good about working for this company terrible wages, dangerous dogs work in dangerous areas, without any breaks and you get bored.

Poor management,no progression unless you are managers “best friend”. Driving ridiculous mileage, killing your car for a minimum wage. Local work? Forget. Hard to get bonuses as good routes go to a “special ops”. Wouldn’t recommend this company.

OK apart from technology, in the dark ages so very slow and frustrating. Over work area was good as jobs close together. Down side was commissioning and the hand held terminal that was very slow. It was due to change they say but wasn't prepared to hang about for that possibility

Just don't
Nothing good really to say about this company. After 10 years you are still a number. To much pressure from managers, they need to know everything step by step, any 5../10 min gap on your route needs to be justify.
