Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI must admit LV is by far the best company I've worked for in terms of benefits and actually looking after you. If it doesn't suit them though it's a pointless battle. Work is constant and repetitive so if you like that it's the job for you, when it's busy you get extra 10 min breaks and overtime is decent. Starting salary is £22,891 but still way off in relation to inflation. Management are like children in a playground half of the time, the colleague relationships is what keeps me going.
Pros
Yearly bonus, easy job, convenient, job stability
Cons
Boring, repetitive, schoolground behaviour, treated like a number

Dated infrastructure
Data Analyst (Former Employee) - Bournemouth - 18 October 2022
Dated IT infrastructure hampers daily work and results in lots of manual data tasks. Culture is friendly and informal but senior management have let company drift for years meaning a lot of equipment and processes are very out of date.
Pros
Flexible working
Cons
Dated technology

Claims Handler
Claims Handler (Current Employee) - Croydon, Greater London - 13 February 2021
Staff are friendly and supportive. There is a lot of training to cover but it’s very interesting. The office is in a convenient location and working hours are very sociable. There is material and learning catalogues which can be done at home but Home study is not paid. Perhaps LV could consider x amount of time and £ Pay by adding this as an additional supplement to salary for the future.
Pros
Sociable Working Hours/Free Hot Drinks/Other Benefits
Cons
Low Pay/Also Longer training Period would be an advantage

Worst management, don’t care for mental health
Underwriter (Former Employee) - Essex - 4 November 2020
I recently stopped working at LV at the beginning it was good but after the first year everything went down hill VERY fast, management were horrible, never cared for mental health or personal situations, always put the ‘customer’ first but never cared for their own staffs input or feelings. Management could never be wrong and were too head strong to want to listen. No on site parking unless you’ve worked there for since the building was made so you may as well start walking now. Forced to do a survey that’s pointless as even when you do it seniors still fail you on audits when you don’t on the rear occasion even if you’ve asked that broker before. Role progression isn’t easy at all, even when you ask for it it’s brushed under the carpet, half the role progression is just general day work but is never signed off so progress takes ages! Overall just a horrible environment to work in!
Pros
Going home/ Wage
Cons
Management/ No Parking

Avoid at all costs
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - 19 October 2020
LV is by FAR the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working for. The current managers are the absolute worst. They don’t care about you just themselves push you to work harder to make them look good to their managers. They say they are an advocate for mental health but in reality they couldn’t care less. They train up “mental health” first aiders but choose the ones that are matey matey with the managers so no doubt your personal mental health issues would be on full blast. Get your anti depressants at the ready because you will need them even after a week in this place. The office is filthy and the cleaners are known for using the same cloth as they wipe down the toilet bowls with. Absolutely no progression opportunities what so ever despite being promised so in the interview. The only benefit is you will meet the odd couple of really amazing people but unfortunately they are in the same sinking boat as you and hate their jobs too. I’d be surprised if LV have enough staff to carry them through Christmas. You will just be another number to bring the call volumes down. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Pros
Ok pay
Cons
Absolutely nothing else

Stay Away
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - 9 October 2020
been there since 2015 , so 5 Years there and what a waste of time. Promises of progression, when in fact you have to have the right face to fit the mould, when one call ends, you get 5-10 seconds before your next call comes in, if there is even a couple of seconds you’re not taking calls they’re onto you like you’ve murdered the management teams families. You will be treat like a barcode, just another box ticker, they won’t care about you, they just care about how many calls you take. They say it’s not a target driven job, however if you don’t meet the targets they set for calls and timings then you’re in trouble, got personal life issues outside of work? don’t expect them to care or accommodate you. At first it’s sold as a lovely place to work with a great team ethos and good spirit.. don’t be fooled like many of us have and will be. it’s a corporate beast who rip every customer off just like any other insurance company, and treat their staff even worse, the team leaders don’t have a care, usually found in the break room avoiding their teams , because they aren’t the ones taking calls, when customers call and scream at you for their prices, all you can say is the few excuses that’s made up for you to respond with. if you care about your mental health or wellbeing, stay away from LV.
Pros
leaving
Cons
LV as a whole.

Worst company to work for ever!
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - 21 August 2020
the worst ever company to ever work for, i started in january 2020 and 2 months in we had to work from home due to corona virus. I was given used damaged and dirty equipment to work with, which i complained about many times but it fell on deaf ears each time. I was given a disciplinary for not meeting my targets. WORST EVER PLACE TO WORK STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH TO STAY INTACT.
Pros
Salary benefits
Cons
Slave work

Avoid like the plauge!!!!
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Bristol - 11 August 2020
This is without a doubt the worst place I have ever worked! The abuse you receive on the daily by stupid and ignorant customers who cannot grasp how insurance works, outweigh any kind of benefits the job offers! Before working here I had relatively good mental health, as soon as I started I became suicidal and had the worst anxiety about going to work! If you have any value for your well-being, avoid at all costs!!!!!
Pros
Pay is okay
Cons
Absolutely everything eose

All things considered it’s a great place to work
Network Administrator (Current Employee) - Ipswich, Suffolk - 22 April 2020
There are issues over payment for certain jobs but if you work hard and have abilities then you can progress well. The 3rd Party route is best route for progression and payment but the AD route is more fun
Pros
Good fun with challenges and extras worth the pay
Cons
Maybe not the best payer but all other parts of the work make up for it

Culture is very important in a successful business and LV= has it in abundance. Management and Senior leaders are really engaged. A company that embraces talent and diversity.

Overall a good place of employment
Commercial Claims Handler (Current Employee) - Croydon, Greater London - 11 March 2020
But unfortunately in my circumstances was made redundant due to the merge of LV and Alliance. Good training and become knowledgeable of commercial and home insurance. A place to progress in the company

Dreadful Place to work.
Pleb (Former Employee) - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - 3 March 2020
When you arrive at work there is a cacophony of noise. Team leaders are on the whole very unhelpful. I would love to name and shame but I shall remain professional.
On one occasion I was told to F OFF and find someone else to help me.
It is very much a case of just get on with it.
To be fair the training is good but hardly sets you up for the challenge ahead.
Glad I left.

Awful
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Bristol - 15 February 2020
Working with LV was both physically and mentally draining. There was absolutely NO chance of socialising (you weren’t always on a break with people you worked with), the work to social life balance wasn’t great so having no time to socialise made me feel like a robot, you turn up, repeat more or less the same conversations the customers then go home.

Senior Customer Claims Consultant (Former Employee) - Brentwood, Essex - 4 October 2019
Great training and coaching. LV= have high standards and actually care about their employees. Happy to continuously recommend LV= for its products and as a career, even after I’ve left, as was such a great company to work for! Only left for a complete career change but stayed 4 years longer than planned as felt was too good to leave and kept progressing!
Pros
Care about employees, amazing customer service which makes you feel proud to work for them, great salary for the job roles.
Cons
Progression is different in certain offices round the country.

A lot of uncertainty
QA Analyst (Former Employee) - Bournemouth, Dorset - 3 October 2019
Very much a "face fits" culture. A lot of redundancies and uncertainty since general insurance was taken over. Lack of decent management at lower levels.
