Good company
Support Worker (Former Employee) - St Helens, Merseyside - 4 April 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood to work for, had a good laugh with staff. Management seem to have very little care experience themselves with many being simply admin staff and not being familiar with many of the health conditions those under their care had.

Don’t bother
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 28 May 2022
You cannot trust any management or HR. The staff turnover is ridiculous, they employ anyone experience or not. Basically if your face fits and you stay hush hush about the treatment of service users, the lack of safeguarding and data protection you’ll do great

Extra care support worker (Former Employee) - Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - 29 April 2022
No support from manager or seniors , no one listens to staff concerns, pressured to work long hours due to staff shortages , expect to wait 2 months for your first paycheck , all in all an awful company to work for its all about making money not the clients care or the staff glad I got out

The staff and residents are great, pay is just not very good but its very difficult to find such a nice work environment so its almost worth the low pay

Friendly and supportive organisation
CQC Registered Manager (Former Employee) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire - 5 February 2022
I worked for Making Space for 3 years as a registered manager. I worked with a great team of peers and management. The role I held was very demanding but there are some fantastic and supportive people based at the main office and my fellow managers were always on hand to offer support.

Lovely place to work
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Warrington, Cheshire - 4 February 2022
Recently started employment here and can honestly say it’s one of the best places I have worked so far in my role as a support worker. All the staff are friendly and have welcomed me as part of their team. I can’t wait to get to know all our service users and have the pleasure to give them the care and help they deserve to continue to live happy and in a safe and secure environment
Pros
Friendly staff and lovely building to work in
Cons
Needs to be a better induction process upon starting

Developing company
Service Manager (Former Employee) - Greater Manchester - 22 January 2022
I had complete autonomy of service design and working practice, however the lack of day to day support was incredibly isolating and there were no opportunities to develop or fully use the skills that I have, despite proactively putting myself forward to get more involved across the company. The salary is not competitive outside of the 3rd sector and most staff were employed on minimum wage. This meant that attracting and keeping the right candidates was challenging. My experience was that Making Space could have done a lot more to retain talent that care about the sector and had a lot of skills to offer the growing company - listening, being interested in alternate ideas, RHoO being connected to their services, being responsive and appreciative. All the right things are said re one page profiles and connecting with your team and manager, but even when support was explicitly asked for, it was never recieved in practice.
Pros
Autonomy, freedom, easy
Cons
Lack of support, no opportunities for advancement

Jobs at Making Space
Don’t work here
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire - 16 July 2021
They claim that they are there to support you, your health and your mental health. But they don’t!! You can have 2 weeks of but if you have 4 separate days off you don’t fit the job role - they allow you to work in trained for 5 months without first aid training and epilepsy training so if there is a incident and you don’t know what your doing they blame you - avoid at all costs
Pros
Blue light card
Cons
They don’t care about you even though they say they do 😡

Most of times they are short of staff especially for the night shifts
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Manchester - 8 July 2021
I wouldn't pray to work in a particular branch again, no benefits or incentive especially for Easter and Christmas time and no double for Christmas, Easter or bank holiday. They started paying double for Christmas 2019.
Pros
Some nice colleagues
Cons
Unappreciated management

Amazing supportive managers and amazing jon
Mental Health Recovery Worker (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 7 July 2021
I have worked at making space as a recovery worker for over a year. Managers have been great, supportive and are very emapthetic. The work is difficult and pay is relatively fair, although some times you may think the job exceeds it… but realistically the job gives you new positive experiences every day. Confided by an overall mental health system, what you give in this job you will get back. I have loved working here, even though sometimes leaving what you hear in work hours can be difficult but doable
Pros
Supportive
Cons
Difficult work life balance

Service Manager (Current Employee) - Colne, Lancashire - 24 April 2021
A progressive and truly *person-centered* support company. It's an absolute pleasure to work for Making Space. Most enjoyable aspect of the job? - working with a dynamic and flexible team of colleagues who share the desire to deliver the best level of care in which we can achieve.
Pros

Fun place to work
Support Worker/Tenancy Support Worker (Former Employee) - Chorley/Rochdale - 14 February 2021
During my time with Making Space I enjoyed every minute of it spending time with the service users and supporting them. It was a Outreach Service in Chorley and then as a Tenancy Support Worker in Rochdale but I have recently applied a couple of times and Making Space has not got back to me . I really would love to work with them again but yeah I would recommend working for Making Space.
Pros
Work life balance and supporting the service users and good helpful management
Cons
Wages could be better

Recovery Worker (Current Employee) - Manchester - 11 November 2020
I enjoy the job that I do with Making Space. I think wages could be slightly better but it’s probably the same for all health and social care charity work. I have enjoyed my experience so far with the company.
