Service Technician (Former Employee) - Poole, Dorset - 11 October 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI worked for 2 months in the workshop. Expectations were high with habitation inspections being a 75 point list to be completed in 3 hours which includes all gas , electrics, a full Damp check etc . So 2.4 minutes per check . The expectation is that you have to be a gas, electrical, plumbing technician . As well as being able to do carpentry and some vehicle tech jobs . This can lead to technicians cutting corners and potentially putting themselves or clients at risk which I witnessed 1st hand on numerous occasions.Something I was unprepared to do!, which as a result i was deemed too slow because I was taking more than the 2.4 minutes per item to be checked . Its put me off buying a motor home . Maybe I was too slow , maybe it was just the wrong job for me but I think anyone with an ounce of intelligence will realise that 2.4 minutes is a very low amount of time to check , operation , fitting , condition, and fault find . If you think about it if there is a problem it probably takes a couple of minutes to write this up on the form . Don't let it put you off . I had 2 months work . The colleagues were all decent people and it's not their fault that the bar is set so high .

Underpaid and Stressful
Parts Advisor (Former Employee) - Birtley - 15 August 2022
If you're a hard working individual then you are one of a few in this working environment. Some of the department's were great to work with and others avoid at all costs. To many managers and a poor work ethic. Some staff spending half a day playing on there mobile phones! Some departments making false promises to customers that were just not achievable, and in doing so putting extra pressure onto other staff. Things might be different now but certainly not a pleasant working experience.

Friendly team with the opportunity to be creative
Photographer and Marketing Executive (Current Employee) - Marquis Devon - 6 January 2022
My job at Marquis is my first out of university and with not much knowledge of the industry the team are always there to help with any questions I may have. From the day I started the team were welcoming and approachable. With branches nationwide if you need to get in touch with someone further afield, they’re only a phone call or email away. With the motor and leisure trade being a little delayed with new vehicles the opportunities for me to photograph the new vans hasn’t been as much as I hoped but the company have been very understanding of the situation and are always keeping me informed with updates but have also given me the chance to be more creative in other aspects of the business.

Industry leading with excellent customer and employee care
General Manager (Current Employee) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire - 5 January 2022
It feels good to know that I have the support of the largest dealer network behind me when it comes to buying power and manufacturer back up. Access to stock is second to none and knowing that customer care is a massive part of the Marquis way assures me that repeat business should never be far away, fantastic company to work for.

Good Company To Work For. Everyone is Approachable
Sales Executive (Current Employee) - Devon - 5 January 2022
Good company to work for. The branch is very good and supportive with branch management being very approachable and personable. The team is small and work really well together which definitely helps. With sales having a low basic pay with it being a commission based job you have to take quieter months on the chin because the busy months make it worth it with good commission levels! Can get very busy with the right stock levels and definitely a benefit being owned by the manufacturer. Higher management are always on the end of the phone and they are all easy to speak with. Overall is an enjoyable job with plenty to do and a good team.
Pros
Good Team Good Commission
Cons
Only con really is low basic but that is made up for by high commissions. Typical sales hours.

Jobs at Marquis Leisure
If You've been in the motor trade don't hesitate to try the leisure industry.
Branch Manager (Current Employee) - Plymouth - 5 January 2022
After spending 20 years in the Motor trade I was a bit reluctant to look at another sector. If you are in the same boat then don't hesitate and Marquis has been fantastic. The leisure industry has the same procedures as the Motor trade but certainly at Marquis there is not the constant bombardment of pressure You would get with a motor trade main dealer. The Senior management have been fantastic and You feel supported rather than isolated. If you fancy a slightly different challenge in your career then Marquis is a great choice.
Pros
Relaxed environment. Full training and support.
Cons
Steep learning curve if You are new to the leisure indusrty

MOTORHOME SALES EXECUTIVE (Former Employee) - Gloucestershire - 8 April 2021
They don’t care about the staff. Management only care about themselves. I worked there for over 10 years and it made me very depressed. No support at all. Commission based with very low salary. Dealt with customer complaints all the time. You are told to manage them. Avoid working here at all costs.
Pros
One
Cons
Everything
