In operations a lot is expected of you and you do not find much spare time to finish the many computer based tasks required. Due to a changing rota pattern of 6 or 7 day weeks it is difficult to plan activities outside of work and stress and fatigue are common. However the support structure of your teams and line managers is fantastic and as long as you have an idea of the direction you want to go in the business there are plenty of opportunites for progression. The best part of the job is definitely working with the animals (dogs/cats) but also the fact that there is an outside company to clean the accomodation - we consider ourselves very lucky as most animal jobs would require a lot more cleaning and frankly would pay considerably less.
Disgusting place to work carnage every day rubbish management very little benefits and the ones that are left will probably be taken away. No direction from management and I don't believe they know how to make the factory run properly. Management will come out and tell lies to your face and completely go against there own policys as and when it suits them.
I worked here during the summer with my fellow team members and associates which made the job more enjoyable. It was relatively flexible with my contract hours and I was expected you to work any shift I could according to my availability. Managers are reasonable and understanding. Punctuality and presentation are taken very seriously
superb place to work great team enviroment targeted but well structured and supported to achieve these huge portfolio of products to work with and sell lots of inter department collaboration real prospects for developing
working for great line mangers who develop you quickly
lots of meetings....lol
Long unsociable hours. Started at either 7 in the morning or 7 at night. Had to be there at 6.30 and didn’t leave while 7.15 and then at least half an hour to get to and from. 14 hour days and nights with travel! Hated every moment! Friday Saturday Sunday night!! Stressed all the time 100 miles an hour all the time! Tried to brainwash you that Mars is the be all and end all! I struggled to do 5 months!
fantastic place to work, cares about their employees. invests in development and training. working as a shift technician, there is support when facing issues on the line. i learned a lot here, completed my apprenticeship and learned fundamental skills of engineering. a lot of people go out of their way to help you.
If you want a job where you are micro managed and always stressed out this is the job for you. I had worked for this company for many years until the RSM changed. You were always expected to know a million acronyms on every field visit and if you were too slow or had to think about it you were marked down red and failed and obviously on every pay review each year no pay increase so this company had this down to a tee. Every time my RSM phoned you were too afraid to answer. No work life balance so family always came second, this is a fact. No higher management were approachable whatsoever And you were always rated very low. As I said if you want to be micro managed, stressed and family come second this is the job for you.
Company car, average salary
Long hours, stress, no family time
New technology especially fast paced packaging, enjoyed the challenge. Being a family owned company we were well very well cared and motivated. Excellent working environment. There is no Higher or lover post as were called as "Associates".wich made every one to be easily approachable. Brilliant Group to work with world class canteen and other facilities for employees. Undoubtedly well motivated to succeed ,I group where anyone can spend a life time in this company. People with pet can bring there kids and pets at work amazing.
Delicious Hot meals freshly made, free coffee drinks, reduces priced Mars products, Clean and tidy work place.
Sometimes long traffic queues to and fro work.
Mars culture is pushed a lot, and although there are positives don't expect to make any real friends or advance without causing real damage to others. This is not an environment for doing honest work, instead you are praised for ensuring your work load is small so you have as much time as possible to help focus on improvement. Re structure are common, there is no job security, and many have been forced out after 25 years of service.
Very strong work culture and disciplines. High clarity of objectives and management feedback. At the time I was there we had no PCs and all documentation had to be handwritten. A slight case of culture shock, but it was the same for everyone.
Money is OK but benefits are cut every year. Shift work so terrible for social life and body clock. All new managers are kids fresh out of uni with no life experience and just there as figure heads and site management are politicians. 90% could leave tomorrow and the work could continue and probably productivity would increase and certainly morale. This company is all smoke and mirrors to convince you you are making a difference and saving the planet! Really you are making a greedy billionaire family richer
Wages ok, good overtime rates but makes for a long week
Management, old unmaintained machinery, zero future prospects
Nobody used to leave Mars for another job. I know of 7 in the last year ! No longer a family run company, has become very "corporate " , it's all about the numbers.
Uncaring management, all trying to make a name for themselves at everyone else's expense.
Really enjoyed working here, great package for the area and lovely colleagues. Free on site parking, canteen and great environment to work in. Great being part of a large company within the country side.
Great salary / benefits for the area
Location - unless you have your own transport may be tricky to get to
