Time out with the other members of staff
I worked their for 6 months and the team was fantastic, with exceptional support from all the team members, the work balance was good and the manager was very supportive.

Management are bullies, with no care or consideration and no people management skills, opinions of others are gathered to make them look good but are then not listened too/actionedLots of overtime required to get the job done

boring and bad management
1 Very bad planning ahead by the manager = Sitting around waiting or waisting time. 2 After being asked to submit ideas of improvements, you learn how to resist making any improvement suggestions as they take two years to implement the good ones. 3 Very bad planning ahead by the manager. Incompetent.4 Not included into the company culture if you are a scum contractor. You are excluded from the second half of any company meeting. 5 Not getting cold when sat around bored and doing nothing. The air conditioning units spew cold air on you. Being able to NOT complain about lack of or bad planning. 6 Half past twelve on Friday

Amazing Company
I've been with MBDA for less than a year and they are an amazing company. They truly look after their employees providing free services in mental health, work-life balance etc. The job culture is really good, everyone is friendly and always keen to help others out when needed. The work-life balance is like nothing I've seen compared to other companies in my opinion - employees get to start whenever before half 9 and finish whenever they'd like to suit their needs i.e. childcare etc. Half day finishes every Friday. The benefits are good, shopping vouchers, cinema tickets, technology vouchers where you can buy latest tech and spread across 12 months interest free, Private health care, good pension schemes and many more benefits.Salary could be slightly higher compared to the rest of the industry but the work-life balance equals it out overall. Overall, amazing company, no issues.

Company looks after you, but engineering stuck in the 70s
The benefits and effort the company puts in its people is good for a defence company - they do go the extra mile. Generally people are very professional and accommodating, with limited politics (except with the French, who try to dominate). There are some interesting departments, mainly science based, which can be cutting edge. And there are some very clever people around, which makes it intellectually stimulating at times. But, other companies that operate in similar but competitive markets (MBDA in a monopoly, funded by the UK govmt) work so much smarter, and need to be efficient, focused and innovative. Whereas MBDA management were raised on 70s style Time & Materials contracts where failure was rewarded. Consequently the systematic nature of engineering is missing, meaning that you can be maxed out or sitting with nothing to do for months. And the level of re-work and nugatory work performed can mean limited job satisfaction, with projects progressing at a glacial pace. But it isn't ever chaos, as nobody appears to really care.It is just spending money (there isn't any effective programme management either)! It is noticeable that many of the good reviews on here are written by lifers who have not experienced other modern, dynamic, delivery-driven and 'smart' engineering companies.
