Very tough work environment, sometimes a bullying environment, great place to see and work and tell people you work there, and very good if its the start of your career. Little to no progression off the shop floor, if you manage to get in as an engineer or manager with an education you can do well. No work life balance whether you have an education or not.

Toxic Management & Negative attitudes
Since working at McLaren within the security department, I speak on behalf of most of the security team by saying the management is awful. You are seen as a “bum on seat”, you are not cared about or appreciated by the head of security & two assistant security managers who all have been stuck in their old ways for the last 17 years and nothing has changed. They are not open to changes or ideas presented by new staff & are shut down immediately. They are talked to incredibly condescending by the security manager. If you make any minor mistake you are talked down to as if you are a child. Majority of the time the management are either smoking outside the premises or giving pointless lectures to their security staff who are no longer motivated. Because of all this the staff turnover is very high and the pay structure is unequal, forcing people to leave. Good luck getting your probation meeting on time or any of your concerns taken seriously. Any issues that you do arise, they will pass over to HR. For McLaren’s security team to move forward, it starts from the top and the management needs to go. Simple.

Great support and staff help people succeed in their career paths
I enjoyed my time working for this company in management and sales, they were flexible and allowed me the free time I need to rest up for the work ahead, despite being overseas the days provided covered my home time in the U.S.

Small salary, Covid safety is a major problem here.
Overall, good place to work. But the salary is pants. No pride in work, it's just a numbers game with no quality. Big problem at the moment with no communication to the shop floor on Covid-19 cases happening in the factory. Manages are brushing the situation under the carpet instead of informing close contact individuals of confired Covid cases. Social distancing doesn't exist, wearing of masks is ad hoc. Worn by some, under the nose, under chin, some not even bothering. At the moment, this is not a safe environment to work in.
strange and somewhat intimidating
Unlike any environment I have ever experienced. I thought it would be exciting and enjoyable, but I felt intimidated and uncomfortable with my surroundings and the attitudes of many of the people I came across. Having said that, the people I worked with directly, and those I had to interact with on a day to day basis, where happy to engage, but only once they had established you were not a threat. It would seem they also felt intimidated
