Very Enjoyable Experience
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Berwick Grange, Harrogate - 15 April 2023
Featured review
Methodist Homes (MHA) selected this as a representative reviewThe care provided by the management and stuff is first class. Very caring and efficient care home. Very well organised. The staff here go above and beyond. They live the values by treating residents with dignity, compassion, kindness and so much care. Their care is exemplary and create lovely atmosphere. Residents are happy and feel settled, content. I am absolutely blown away by all members of staff and the quality of training provided. I'm so happy to be part of that team and looking forward to what the future holds.

20 April 2023Thanks for the feedback. This is a great example of how our colleagues live MHA’s Values and deliver our Mission to enable people to live later life well.
The best team work.
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - 15 November 2023
I worked at mha for 5+ years, my first job in care & the best place I’ve ever worked, management are extremely helpful, every day is different & the residents are always well looked after, spending 12 hours on a shift surrounded by support always made the day better, it’s challenging at times but we had the best team work, always a laugh and a giggle! The Christmas party’s were always the best!

Not a good place to work
Head Chef and Kitchen Manager (Current Employee) - Yarm - 22 October 2023
Management say they are approachable but they will tell your business to others and also very rude u go above and beyond and it’s gets u no where when all u have is the residents best interest at heart you have to watch people getting away with everything no one ever gets sacked even when there behaviour is disgusting and shocking they have a huge turn over on staff the good ones because of management they say they are a charity but that not how they act it’s all about budgets and money and not about the residents I’ve learnt a massive lesson here and and I would never work for Mha ever again and would tell people never to work for them
Pros
Getting to know the residents
Cons
Not been treated with a bit of respect

Stressfull work environment
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Stafford, Staffordshire - 22 October 2023
Used to be a lovely place to work but has since gone down hill. Teamwork is non existent which makes for a very stressfull work environment. Some lovely staff that genuinely do care but far more that are lazy and unfriendly towards the new staff and agency and alot just sit chatting all day ignoring the residents. Activities for the residents are very sparse, and staff often don't have time to engage in activities. Wages often have discrepancies but if you question it you are told you are wrong. Good rates of pay but is it really worth it if your mental health suffers?

A good charity to work with.
Home Manager (Current Employee) - Colne, Lancashire - 19 October 2023
MHA have strong core values and these are reflected in the standard of care provided. A passion to care makes any role more enjoyable as the world of health care can bring its challenges. There are many staff benefits including a free staff meal, pay enhancements and annual pay reviews, staff support scheme and a caring team of colleagues to support you. Plenty of opportunities to progress in your career and nationally recognized training schemes available.
Pros
Free staff meal, free DBS, free uniform, full training, staff support service, career progression.
Cons
The care industry can be challenging at times but there is plenty of support available.

Loved the residents but not MHA
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Stafford, Staffordshire - 12 October 2023
Long days, hard work. Loved residents and families. Had a great team, fab colleagues. No 2 days were the same, so although it was hard work, it was interesting, varied, fun, lots of laughter, it was such a nice place to work. Changed alot last 18 months/2 years. Hard watching colleagues leave, the lack of experienced staff, new management. You don't see Management as they rarely leave the office, approachable but lack of knowledge and experience very apparent. There is a culture of if your face fits and isn't pleasant when yours is one of the ones that doesn't.
Pros
Lovely residents
Cons
Not a nice environment to work in

Good place to work
Senior Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Bedford, Bedfordshire - 5 October 2023
I enjoyed working here for a number of years. Staff are lovely and hard workers. The residents are wonderful too, staff are able to progress if they want to by completing NVQ levels in Health and Social Care and training is kept regularly up to date.

Jobs at Methodist Homes (MHA)
Family of staff
Admin Manager (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear - 22 September 2023
I work with my second family and we do it for the residents we look after in their home. Long hours and never switch off but all part of the role and wouldn’t change it

Good pay and flexibility too. No sick paid and low private pension.
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Leeds - 19 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Pay is competitive, often the company have flexibility so you can chose the shifts, hours you want to work. Also they support you to do NVQ level 3. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of staff put pressure in the team twhen delivering care. It is hard for the company to be enough staff in all the areas. When no lacking of cares they lack of cleaners, cooks or administrative staff. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It is very welcoming to diversify. They take very seriously any kind of discrimination or unfair treat. What is a typical day like for you at the company? There are good and not so good colleagues, bit in general we work as a team and team leaders are very supportive. In my scheme there is not a day that is same to the rest but in general goes busy but easy once you are used to it. Building trust and good professional relationship is very important. I get along with my coworkers so it feels like a second family, same with residents. I think MHA could improve with the benefits that gives to workers but it is a nice environment, at least in my scheme.

Supportive and flexible workplace

Great, supportive and flexible management, I would recommend MHA as a good company to work for. Always shifts available for those employed on the bank.

Way too much work and mgmt too focused on savings and cutting corners
Senior Care Assistant (Former Employee) - South West - 28 August 2023
Senior mgmt are more interested in their bonuses and budget savings than customers and service delivery. Would be nice for Area managers to actually spend time on front line as they all seem to have forgotten what it's like with conflicting work priorities and balancing so many balls in the air
Pros
Nice local team to share the burden
Cons
Long hours and too much to do with time alloted

Rubbish workplace
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Bedford, Bedfordshire - 15 August 2023
The staff here are mean, partially day staff. Management does not care about people in the home or staff. Very vindictive and cliquey. Was not a good place to work.

Lovely home. Horrible management
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire - 29 June 2023
The management team are the most unfair and backstabbing people I have ever met. The lower management backstab their way to the top and the middle management don't have a clue what they're doing half of the time

Challenging but rewarding at the same time.
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - 26 June 2023
Worked here for a couple of weeks and have to say so far so good. Staff are very friendly and helpful, good management and there is always someone to ask if you are unsure of any tasks and nothing is too much trouble for anyone. I feel appreciated and it is a happy environment, clean home and you can see that the residents are well looked after. No two days are ever the same, it is a challenge, but rewarding at the same time.
Pros
Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons
Not an easy job, but it is rewarding.
