in the past

they( the managers at potters bar at least live in the past and think its a great job.hence the reason at potters bar they only fill 1/10 pcv jobs. it use. It isnt. this is the reason there is such a mass shorage of bus drivers. working in london is absolutly horrible. the customers hate you the cars etc hate you and your managers think you are lucky as you have a great job lol. take my advice. if you can get a bus job outside london i bus etc log cards etc. dont exist and you will actually enjoy the job.

Pros

i went back temp with agentcy

Cons

Bad management

If Meteoline wasn't a big company, they would had gone bankrupt. Every for themselves with their departments and bad management, everyone is their own boss, lack teamwork ( basically teamwork don't exist if ot don't benefit them). When I start, got 4 days training, which suppose to be 3 months training, no support or compassion, its you rather swim or sink. I managed to swim and survived.

Ambiente lavorativo ottimo

ero molto piu entusiasta all'inizio della mia carriera a Metroline, poi col tempo molte cose son cambiate ed e` diventato un lavoro come molti altri.

Pros

Lavoro assicurato

Cons

Molto stressante.

Follow the rules, drive safe.

I’ve never known a job with so many rules & procedures but it’s not child’s play, it’s serious responsibility. Follow the training mandate, you will be unnoticed which is good, act like a maverick you won’t last 6 months, good steady work, unsociable hours, half decent pay.

Pros

Weekly pay, two rest days every week in a pattern.

Cons

Long hours, mentally tiring

Don’t look any further.

If you enjoy working 7 days on and having 2 off, no work life balance, free time or job security? Then this is the job for you. No matter what you do, you are always in the wrong. Constantly being observed by your own company, TFL, external parties and the public. 24/7 abuse from passengers, senior management, and controllers. Also if you fancy seeing the manager everyday for a complaint? Join away. Possibly the worst job in the world.

Pros

The day finishing

Cons

There’s too many to list, it’s endless!

Not a bad company

If you do your job properly nobody bothers you. Some service controlers can be bossy but most of them are okay. Other drivers are very helpful. Management is okay depending on the garage.

Pros

Decent salary, career development

Cons

Long duties

Decent job, but pay and working conditions need improvement

Decent job at times, but ultimately its stressful. Road users including pedestrians, cyclists, taxi & van drivers never want to wait or give way to the bus even if you have right of way, causing regular near misses. When things do go wrong its usually your fault and the management very rarely have your back. The shift work varies depending on which route and which garage your at, so your experience can be decent or bad and consist of very early starts and late finishes. You get only 20 days holidays per year. You can't choose your holidays they are pre-allocated to you on a block basis for the year. If you want to swap or change you need to go through a mutual exchange with other drivers. No full sick pay until after 5 years of being in the company. Supervisors lack people skills and only a handful of them deal with you with respect(and that's across many garages). No more staff canteens so you need to bring food from home or buy fast food. The seating positions can get very uncomfortable in the buses after long periods of time. You feel pain in your back, elbows and knees at times.

Never again

Working till your body give up you not going to have a soul. Not good for health long hours 7 day in a row. If you not doing overtime it's not worth it because of the tax. If you have a family get the divorce papers before you start this job. If you want a happy life don't do it.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

The worst bus company in London

I’ve been working for Metroline for 12 years as a bus driver. Even with my first class degree in business management, they have never even offered me an interview let alone a promotion. Everytime you apply for a vacancy, they give you the same reason for not inviting you for the interview (there we’re better candidate this time round). Every bus driver at the company knows that it’s not your qualification or hard work that get you ahead but rather a case of who you know. If you are thinking of joining this company, I would sincerely advise you to seek employment with a bus company that understand that the benefits of having a robust promotion procedure.

Pros

Sleeping facilities during break time

Cons

No promotion

Very bad do not work for this company

I worked at the King's Cross garage as a ferry driver. The managers are useless and very Rude. They expect you everyday to come in and ask for a rota when it should be supplied every week.

Pros

Ac in cars

Cons

Long hours. Bad management.

Metroline cricklewood

No social life, always cutting back on salary. Deducted 1week holiday to all drivers starting after 2010. Always a NO when asking for help such as appointments or funeral day off. but yet they want you to work overtime especially on your days off. This is a company you should avoid if you're interested in being a bus driver. No social life. Awful job.

Hard work but driving is enjoyable

If you put in the hours the pay will be well. 8 to 10 hours shifts not family friendly also working 7 days on the trot doesn't help. Exhaustion sets in. Of course those who are work horses will love it

Pros

Free travel card, pension, uniform

Cons

Longs hours, no flexibility

Won't have time for your family or friends

Overworked underpaid. No life outside of work. Poor communication never know what shift you're on because it changes daily. You also getted shouted at down the radio whilst you are driving the bus.

Pros

Free oyster card

Cons

Poor pay for hard work

Fun place to work good paying job. Plenty of job advancement.

This is a very enjoyable job, with lots of rewards. You pick up you bus at your depo and you start your designated route. There is good social life as the company provides a subsidised canteens and a friendly atmosphere.

You want to commit suicide then click apply!

Honestly the worst job ever. Super long hours. Barely anytime off. Horrible shift patterns. Theres no such thing as “free travel” we get given Oyster card and the money gets deducted from your wages every week. If you decide to leave the company early (within a year) you will need to pay back the full training money which is over £1000, which will also be deducted from your salary. There is no duty of care towards stuff. Your just a payroll number to management. Any perks of the job always have a price. Your gym memberships are not free. Do not trust any union reps, they all work alongside management and no one is on your team, except other bus drivers.

Gotta be better jobs out there

Don't do it !! Look at doing something else ,you work 7 days on 2 off ,don't tell you that in the interview , also promise you 3 week annual leave in the summer once been there 5 yrs service ,that's a load of rubbish but they still tell new comers that still

Cons

Long shifts, shorts breaks, 7 days on in a row
