A very old fashioned business with backward thinking individuals who do not want to change. I’m guessing they have been there a while. New joiners want to change things but are held back. Senior management is excellent but low level management need to improve.
its cold calling, plain and simple, managers have no mercy when it comes to meeting targets and will hound you if you don't meet them. enough is never enough for them always wanting you to make more money. its all about money they don't realise that people have other motivations apart from money, in addition the management is poor when it comes to empathy and sympathy and simply worry that their manager will hound them if they dont meet their targets. slow to react to new mediums always focusing on cold calling, data is usually bad. Marketing is poor and from my time there, their own customers werent happy with them due to little contact and support

The company suffers from unskilled employment and human resources management staff. Micro focus has a contract with the Recruitment Agency "Manpower". Using this scheme to hire employees, the Agency applies methods of unfair dismissal of employees. Managers of "Manpower" often make unjustified staff reductions without paying the redundancy money required by law. The company Manpower thrive protectionism for appointment to the position and occupation of posts. All this combined leads to a deplorable result in the field of hiring employees.

Management team on commercial side is self serving and disingenuous. Senior staff behave inappropriately on many levels, have questionable ethics and seem more interested in fleecing customers than genuinely growing business. They will boast of new business growth, but over 60% of sales is driven by non-compliance which is 100% unintentional by customers and dealt with in a despicably draconian fashion.
Working as a Micro Focus employee is excellent. The salary is really competitive and the working environment is extremely flexible and supportive. There is no micro management if it is seen you can effectively carry out your role, then you are treated with the same respect.

In my work experience at microfocus I learnt skills such as working efficiently on my own at a desk but also how to work well in group work with the other colleagues and suggest ideas within the group. I also worked equally well within the group as I did working on my own whilst completing the tasks they set me to a high standard.
Good place for starting a career and gaining experience in the IT industry. Benefits include free dental and health care which seem to be standard in the industry, but lacks benefits offered by the newer tech firms keen to attract the younger crowd. Much of the software offered by Micro Focus is legacy and new business is not easy to come by. Mergers cause plenty of confusion and mean consolidating teams and systems which take time to happen and unavoidably people being sacked, bringing much uncertainty and sometimes lack of cooperation amongst employees.
Salary, access to executives, relocation opportunities, good work life balance.
Lack of direction and support given by management, somehow feels old and outdated, marketing is almost non-existent for some products, sales managers over focus on compliance deals.
Can be very demanding and also rewarding - inter departmental politics could and can become an issue on a daily basis. Management Team above current position needs to be reviewed - co-workers are under stress to meet demands with little support. Hardest part is working through the communications to provided what the company wants when and where. Most enjoyable part is delivery on time and within budget

Bad Management at a level that impacts on departments
I was employed by Micro Focus for some twelve years. Throughout that time, and despite changes of senior management, the comapny always demonstrated a determination to treat their staff fairly. This did not of course mean that the job was necessarily easy, but it's always more pleasant tackling difficult tasks if you feel valued.

Working as an product management intern at Microfocus, I learned a lot about software product development/management.The culture is very informal and everyone is easily approachable and more than willing to help, which made it a great place as an intern to learn.It is also an exiting place to work, where you have the opportunity to work on products related to the latest trends in technology.The work/life balance is also very good at the company with flexible working times, remote working etc.
