Was nice working here, people happy to help you develop and a lot of opportunities for you to learn and work in any areas you’re interested in. Manager was always available to help and you can work at your own pace.

Bullying culture and poor management

The culture has changed over the years and now we have inexperienced managers trying to manage people. LITEs given without warning and generally a nasty place to work

I worked Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm not Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays. I also had annual leave. The company is a big one and employs a lot of people

A cult

Good but beware of culture, it’s MS all the time and if you don’t comply you are shunned! Low pay but lots of travel opportunities. And constant work.

Very awesome

The HR Assistant position at Microsoft is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to jumpstart their career in the tech industry. The company offers great benefits and a supportive work culture. As an HR assistant, you'll have the chance to work with talented professionals who are passionate about making a difference. The job offers ample opportunities for growth and development, with room to take on new challenges and responsibilities. Overall, I highly recommend this position for anyone looking for a dynamic and rewarding career in tech.

Fits me like a glow

I love working at Microsoft. People I work with are amazing. Although it is a huge company, I am experiencing a collage/startup atmosphere in terms of motivation and dedication. The company culture is inclusive, everybody have the opportunity to become a better version of them selves.

Pros

Amazing Culture

Cons

Corporate bureaucracy

One of the top companies to work for

Generally a great place to work. High caliber colleagues, fast paced and high impact work, lots of opportunities across the organization and very strong brand in the market. Recently some toxicity due to senior leadership shakeups, but I don't think it'll hurt the long term trajectory of the company

Great

Workplace culture was lovely as the people were lovely to talk to and the most enjoyable part of the job was being able to work on and help with different projects.

Been good

Stressful at crunch time, but has been good otherwise. Management is varied, depends what team you get. Progression is possible. Would work here again.

Enjoyed working here. Staff great and helpful

Agency policies not the best. Puts people off as no job security. Good job. they train you well. Colleagues are great. Wages are good if you get a full week in.

Great

Good work atmosphere and great work colleagues. Alright salary - not many benefits. But overall good management and work/life balance was fairly balanced.

I 💛 you Microsoft

Really, really missing this place, people, work life balance. If I could stay longer I would but there was no funding to extend my contract 😔 All team was sad when was my time to go.

Average

Non collaborative environment. Microsoft wastes its time competing internally instead of working for the customer. Role not properly defined so at times people are doing the same job in different teams. Empire building strategy

Pros

Work life balance

Cons

Politics

Cliched FANG terms, insane demands for high pay

I was told there'd be training and development. Instead I got a contract for 12 hours a day and no formal training or allowance for me to develop. A lot of my time was spent interpreting woolly specifications in a new discipline. The whole MS ecosystem was in fact new to me. I was given MS specific technologies to learn more often than the ones I had been growing to love. A steep curve given the non-proprietary discipline was new to me. But MS have the money. The interviewing process was quick, I met the team, answered some easy questions and got my contract quickly.Too quickly to debate the 12 hour clause, and, whilst words matter, I was desperate. I kept up 12 hour days a couple of weeks before productivity tanked and whatever I did was never enough.I was consistently told of unrealistic expectations of me. Work would be dumped on me late in the afternoon and I'd be expected to complete it that afternoon. Then the manager would continue with future requirements when I was already behind. It was hard to know when the manager was being serious as he had the stereotypical technoking deadpan delivery. Turns out that's very effective for pressuring workers.Responding to "simple" questions with procrastination, protracted discussions, and meetings left me struggling. That's for textual questions, verbal reasoning was similar but far harder to keep up with as he could more easily slip distracting, or wrong, words in.As I wrote in the summary, contracting for big tech companies is a cliche in that only the most driven survive, by sacrificing everything.OTOH, contracting -

Pros

Pay, expenses, brand

Cons

Hours, expectations, progression, training

Great pay and very fair

Overall, you are paid well and senior people treat you fairly - you work for your money, but aren't taken advantage of.Hours can be long as you work with the US so calls can go late

Pros

salary

Cons

can be long hours
