Administrator (Current Employee) - Abingdon - 22 February 2022
Really friendly team with a great atmosphere, systems can be challenge but everyone works together to make them work. There's plenty of people that have worked at Miele for more than 20 years which tells you a lot.
Pros
Good on site restaurant, great discounts on products, friendly team and a nice atmosphere
Cons
A bit disjointed and poor internal communication

Insights into Miele
Areas for improvement
- Supportive environment
- Inclusive work environment
- Trust in colleagues
Field service technician at Miele
Field SERVICE technician (Former Employee) - Field based - 10 August 2021
If you like sales then this is the job for you, however if you expect to concentrate on the technical side and fix appliances then expect constant badgering from management about your lack of sales. The job is great driving around visiting customers and fixing faults is rewarding and I liked it. Micro management from line managers is commonplace. Pay is fair but not worth the mental trauma. Greedy senior management, have no idea about Miele customers and their expectations, company philosophy or ethics. Cannot say what office work is like.
Pros
Good discount on great appliances.
Cons
Constant interference by management.

Culture of bullying
Unknown (Current Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 20 July 2021
Overworked and underpaid, and a strong culture of bullying from senior and middle management. If your face doesn’t fit here they will make your life unbearable; and even reporting up the chain doesn’t help. Expected to complete vast amounts of work in your own time and reprimanded if you don’t - do not come to work here. They are outsourcing most functions abroad anyway so most roles here will be gone within 18 months anyway.

Great company to work for with good pay
Customer Support Advisor (Former Employee) - Abingdon, England - 19 November 2019
A typical day at work would be answering incoming calls from customers and owning a difficult situation when it came to problem solving. My coworkers and management were professional and approachable. I definitely miss working there.

Great Product and Brand
Business Development Manager (Former Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 7 November 2019
A typical day consisted of three to four confirmed meetings at showrooms every day. Information to include new product, range changes, review of business and sales. Training within the meeting and product knowledge was also an important part of the role. Responding to telephone calls and emails (sometimes 30 a day) most of which usually required some response or further action.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with great colleagues and building loyal relationships with accounts watching their businesses grow. Due to management changes the workplace culture changed, with hardly any empathy towards the employee and little regard to work/life balance.

Jobs at Miele
Great company
Customer Support Advisor (Former Employee) - Abingdon - 30 October 2019
Miele was a great job where you felt you made a huge difference. The managers notice hard workers and give regular praise. The hours were give a few weeks in advanced so you could easily plan your week ahead and they always supported me with my mental health appointments

good people, average management
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 29 November 2018
good place to work, good people, the job itself was tedious and management weren't always great but just the normal issues you'll find anywhere. if you are offered a job there its probably the best of the kind you'll get in the area.

Driver / installer. Abingdon
Driver,installer (Former Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 27 October 2018
Wanted this job to be a good placement but unfortunatley turned out to be awful.
Dont be fooled by any agency placement promising good future prospects.
You are told your starting salary will be £10 PH, and will be much more after qualifing. The truth is you only qualify as full time Miele employee after 1st being with agency for 13 weeks, and then anouther 13 weeks with Miele.Thats half a year before you can earn the top pay of ( wait for it) .....£10.30p PH !!!!!!
As a agency driver, you could be weeks there before any training is given, and they will swap driver/ drivers mate everyday so you dont get comfortable and get any ideas, between yourselves. Nearly half the fleet of drivers are agency, and people are leaving all the time. Morale is really low, and even the long term drivers have nothing positive to say. Real shame, because vehicles are good and clean, and the product is great. Management are completely out of touch, and you will be on the road a lot of hours!
The long term guys who are fully trained installer/ drivers are nice freindly guys, but for what they do, very underpaid compared to the industry.
Low atmosphere with a steady stream of drivers passing through.
Remember, be carefull what the agency tells you. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Pros
Uniform, vehicles, product
Cons
Everything else

Some staff are nice
Store Assistant (Former Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 25 July 2017
Picking packing products - the workers are generally nice, but the manager and supervisors are rude and arrogant.
The boss consistently threatens to let the temporary staff go (sack them) regardless of there work output. Its a control mechanism they use.
Staff promised a pay rise after 12 weeks, then told they would not receive one after 10 weeks of work.
Sexism and racism is apparent. Bullying of foreign staff at times.
Good luck
Pros
You meet some good people in the picking and packing areas
Cons
Long hours, no paid lunches

Great place to work
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 7 March 2017
I answered customer queries and emails and had a great team of people that I worked with and we all got on really well like a small family.
I learnt amazing customer service skills and how to deal with challenging customers.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the disgruntled customers which were being extremely rude.
The most enjoyable part of the job was helping the really nice customers and receiving gratitude from them. One lady actually sent me a card to say thank you.
Pros
discount off electrical appliances
Cons
abusive customers
