Scary dark country lanes. Scary houses. Scary garden paths

It is a job for those who love nights and would suit with single persons or those who don't have other commitments as this is a 6 nights a week job (technically 7 days a week). You get a good route and learn it fast...the job is fin but challenging.Don't expect a team though as it is solo work once your training has been completed.
Pros
Free milk and goods...
Cons
Work till job done (depending on routes and drops)

Watch out for back stabbers trying to move up. Meetings are expected in your time. To make target finish time u have to run and speed. On a good point they tell u not to do this in training
Pros
Shot dated freebees
Cons
Training in some cases not enough

I started out on agency, after 12 weeks got offered job on a full time basis, if you can hack 6 nights a week, over 200 drops a night with no navigation aid, literally pick up a terminal, tells you address and products needed, have to use memory to get to the address, then perfect, soon takes it toll mentally, spend all day Saturday in bed recovering so that's your day off gone as you sleep all day sunday ready for sunday night, best bit was working in london, never been so as you can imagine completely new area and doing rounds blind as in literally pick terminal up and go, no one to show you the round to start with, the rounds in this company are split so mon/wed/fri do one side, tue/thur/sat do the other side, completely different areas on both sides, be lucky to do less than 100 miles a night unless you work in London, in the depot I was at, you'd be lucky to see the manager twice a week, try and get in touch don't want to know, especially a Saturday if van breaks down etc, the only upside to the job is it keeps you fit, otherwise it's a boring, dull job just dropping milk and goods off, I left to go to a rival offering more money and better conditions.... milk and more didn't like it and I was pretty much hounded out, would I recommend this job? Only if your mega desperate and ready to be treated like a number, the rules within the company are so complicated, can't mark items missing... even though they are, can't sub items then you can, to be told you can't, the best thing about this company is finishing and going home, they say no 2 days are the same, well they are, same - more...
Pros
Work away for double money, fuel money and expenses
Cons
6 nights a week, no thanks for the work you do, no support, vans break down weekly, blind rounds, no navigational aid

It okay jobs if you don’t have a life during the day, and like doing over 250+ customers a night and new customer each night, you will get sore feet, mangers talk rubbish all the time think they’re mr know all with made up story, if you miss one delivery you will have to go back out, no overtime pay, pay is not too bad but that’s night work rate for you but when you get more and more customers on your round you would think you should get more an hour considering you’re making more money and working harder
Pros
Free milk that go off Tomorrow
Cons
Uncomfortable van and take the Mick

When they train you they get you to go out with trainees that haven’t been there more then 4 months and are still learning themselves. So they don’t give you enough time to know your areas and there handsets are very outdated and when you go out to deliveries they only give you sometimes only a week to learn it before you are sent out by yourself and send you out without post codes to address es

Milk and more once used to be a fantastic place when I started there, gradually as 2019 came into fruition the company started to show a behaviour that was unbecoming of itself. Initially there’s the artisan breads which aren’t even freshly baked on site, they are blast frozen and shipped to the various depots. Then there’s the vehicle and fleet maintenance, despite loss of complaints being rolled up the ladder no complaint was ever listened to by senior management. The final straw was removing the option for franchisees to continue sales within the company giving them two options to go either retired or employed directly. This resulted in a work overload
Pros
Night shift, great line management, big emphasis on H&S
Cons
Long hours, 6 day weeks resulting in no family time, outdated equipment, poor senior management who don’t listen to the “boots on the ground”

If you want to be a milkman these days be prepared to start at 9 pm until 7 am rounds are too big and not manageable in the eight hours given they tell you to be careful and not run but you have to run and break all speed limits to get the rounds done in time, Management doesn’t listen and they give you 12 weeks training but expect you to go out on your own within a couple of weeks Of being on the round , always short staffed ....Thearound

Great people to work alongside, however when you can end up on a huge round covering miles of driving and it takes approx 10 hours a day and another person can have a round covering 30 miles and takes approx 4 hours a day how is it fair to pay people the same salary? This happens to plenty of people.

If I could give management zero stars, I would. No communication. Just a number to them, don’t like something? They’ll just replace you. Earn more doing 5 nights a week in mcmc’s
