Made amazing friends whilst I was there, long hours when doing close shifts and very busy restaurant so was never bored a lot to be doing. Everyone got on and it was a laugh.

Workplace environment

Team members are great, the management is poor, I learnt as I went didn’t get much help, the pay of awful for the hours you do and they send people home when not busy so your down to a small team and you get super busy don’t recommend working in Mitchell&Butlers

Fast paced but rewarding environment

Been an employee for 4 years - it can be a tough graft but there's always plenty of staff to assist you. Good benefits such as chef jackets and aprons provided on site that you don't have to take home and wash as is replenished by the company. Free coffees and teas or cordial on shift. Tips are shared monthly between FOH and BOH.

Poorly run company with little care for staff welfare

Poor management from the whole company with employees receiving little support and a lack of care results in a high turnover of employees and claims of stress and bullying are very high. Many shifts are left understaffed due to GM's cutting budgets to get bonuses forcing staff to skip breaks and work longer hours than necessary.

Stressful, unorganised.

Was a terrible experience, highly underpaid and under appreciated for a incredibly demanding job. All the way to head office was unorganised. Would not recommend

Tiring work. Work/life balance can be off. Some more senior members of the team are often required to do the managers job without managers pay. Lots of hours need to be worked to get a decent pay packet.

Over worked and under paid

The business themselves (M&B) expect too much of their employees but only pay them pennies compared to other competitor companies. With Miller & Carter being their 'Premium' brand, there is a massive inconsistency with the level of service provided and this stands for the entire site itself (FOH, BOH & Management), this is due to a poor direction coming from senior management and lack of care for employee well-being. The working hours they expect of you are either 5hrs, 11hrs or all day (some cases 15+ hours) then your expected to do the same again next day, work life balance is almost no existent unless you have children or are part of the senior management team.

Not the best place to work!

Definately not the best place to work, especially if you have other commitments outside of work eg children. lack of respect from managers and front of house. Very money orientated. Don't care about staff. No work life balance.

Staff good, management can be rude

I enjoyed my time working there as bar staff because of the other members of staff (floor and bar) but the management could be rude if they don’t like you and you’d be expected to make all the drinks and then run them to tables even if you’ve got loads of checks up to complete

Not a great company to work for

Unsociable hours, expected to do late closes and early opens frequently. Will not accommodate flexible working even though it is stated in the handbook. No thank you or acknowledgement for going above and beyond or doing extra hours. Progression is about who you know, not how well you preform. Constantly cut hours for hourly paid but will happily keep amenities on for an empty restaurant. If you breakdown just contracted hours against salary it works out as little more thank minimum wage.

Amazing workplace

Best business I have worked for friends and family within the workforce management are kind hearted it’s not all bad as people say.. I do recommend working for miller and Carter

Stressful and taken for granted

Managers do not care about the health and well-being of their workers. As a young woman they offered no support in dealing with difficult customers. You aren’t allowed to keep all your tips and managers have clear favourites within the group. Would never recommend to a friend and if anything guide them against working here.

An absolute joke of a work place it constantly has staff leaving in my short time there three people left, the management is the biggest laugh of it all though genuinely just abysmal.

Management dont really care about there staff and let violent team members run loose without concequence. Over work staff and expect to work alot of days without a day off

Great place to work, management supportive and helped me improve and move up.

Great place to work. Friendly team and excellent management who help you to develop and learn. Hard work but make it a good place to work. I have moved up in my role.

Very friendly work environment

Love working here would recommend to anyone looking for a first job. A lot to take in at first however you pick it up as you go along. Some nights can be busy and it can be hard learning to go faster than usual but it gets better as you go along.

They destroyed my mental health

So I can’t name the location I work at due to still working there, but honestly I don’t recommend working here, no work life balance- those who work hard barely get any well earned time off ( those who should work harder get things handed to them such as multiple weekends off) - no incentives to stay - POOR FOH management - our GM constantly calling sick or being lazy and expecting everyone to do his job for him - poor pay - I feel like I should earn more than I’m on currently with the amount of work I do

Horrible,boss is unprofessional

The Other staff were nice some of the time but the boss is absolutely horrible extremely rude and extremely unprofessional.the environment was okay and clean
