Festival bar staff
Agency Worker (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 12 August 2023
Unfriendly and uncaring team to work for. Despite no bar working experience (which they knew at interview and again before the shift) the manager expected front line service with no training (nothing!) and no support. Extremely stressful environment. Signed up for back bar shift hoping to learn and gain experience. No team spirit. Extremely disappointing. Would not recommend if new to the business.
Pros
Festival music, pay reasonable, transport to venue
Cons
Unfriendly, uncaring, no support

Disorganised
Agency Worker (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 14 January 2023
Not very professional, job descriptions on shifts can be wrong or just none given. This means people are unsure of their exact role before going, and may wear the wrong uniform. I had pay issues at the start but with a lot of discussion I haven’t had this issue since. I know someone who got their P45 from Mint, and the address was listed as “1234 road” so there’s definitely something going on with that. Co-workers are often 16 year olds that have no idea on how to behave on shift, and it can be a little embarrassing being associated with the behaviour of some staff. Not many shifts going these days either compared to 2021 especially for FOH. They just don’t seem to be properly reviewing who they’re hiring. Shifts will be cancelled on you the day of with no explanation and no compensation. Expect you to confirm on the app at 4/5am. Should work on a system that if someone accepts a shift they are actually going to do it because the way that it is makes staff more inclined to cancel last minute as they (rightfully so) don’t respect the employer.

Easy to get into but not enough training
Waiting Staff (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 5 November 2023
To Mint's credit; if you don't have a lot of experience; they will still give you the chance and hire you. However, the training is highly insufficent. You are trained to carry three plates and that's all- nothing about drinks, pouring pints etc. Results in stressful shifts as you are not trained and staff and customers become angry with you- despite never receiving the guidance in the first place.
