Bad workplace
Security Officer (Current Employee) - London - 23 December 2022
Honestly sont get paid enough for what you have to put up with in the retail sector. I only recommend getting experience here then finding something better soon after.

Don't work for Mitie!
Retail Security Officer (Former Employee) - Kent/London - 6 July 2022
Once you're excepted for the job you'll be put in a Sainsbury’s store somewhere. You'll have the joy dealing with many shoplifters, but you're not allowed to really stop them, no touching or grabbing, just ask them to stop, ONLY at the front door area, if you stop them outside like you should really, you'll be penalised for it. The truth is, anyone can make a stop and arrest a shoplifter, the person has to leave the store completely, if you're stopping people right by the door, technically they haven't left the store yet. Managers are all ex security guards, who were lazy and never caught anyone shoplifting, they're just there for wage each month. Lots of the managers have their family members working there, they get all the store detective jobs and decent stores to work in, hardly any experience for the role, but this is where favouriteism comes in. Also once you leave Mitie, you'll have mega problems getting your P45 and last wage slips, also they'll mess up any outstanding pay they owe you. Don't plan anything on your days off, the rota will change a day before, you must keep an eye on it, otherwise you might think you're on rest day, but really you're down to work. If you try and argue with management about them changing your rest days to a working day, they'll just say "we can legally change it within 48 hrs."
Pros
None.
Cons
Rota constantly changing, terrible management.

Responsibility
Site Manager (Current Employee) - London - 12 December 2021
Site managers are expected to deal with all HR queries, including disciplinary and attendance investigations, make their own referrals for staff. All payroll checks and queries are also processed. Recruitment from placing advert to review candidates through to interviews and hiring! All this before you actually do your main job or running the site and managing the team. Far too much work for site managers with almost no back office support from within the business.
Pros
Have some good employee benefits
Cons
Site managers work far in excess of their hours in order to keep on top of tasks

They have good products and incentives for their staff
Security Officer (Current Employee) - Custom House, Lower Thame street, London - 15 May 2021
I have been with them for less down six months but so far, the company has been good but pay-wise per hour, they need to improve on that really. Profit making is not the all in all. Sometimes, firms like that need to make their workers happy in other to get the best out of them and as a result, make good profit. Paying workers less money per hour is not motivating.
Pros
Good free training opportunities abound
Cons
They should pay their workers more money per hour.

Avoid
CCTV Operator (Former Employee) - London - 19 March 2021
Worst decision I made joining, the rate sounds good but its 4 weekly and the promised overtime gets canceled. Management don't care about staff, your just a number to them. Your promised many things but nothing gets completed. Hire anyone, and have made new comers into security managers with no experience and expected to work above and beyond. Holiday is decided by manager not you. NOT JOKING!! Higher management have no clue what is happening as they are just sitting in an office in the city watching there bank balance climb. Please don't join as you'll be wanting to escape ASAP.
Pros
None
Cons
Stress, long hours, poor management.
