Inclusive work environment
Financial Accountant (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA great place to work with some of the most nicest people you’ll meet. There’s a lot of focus on developing their employees while also offering early salary reviews.

I would not recommend anyone to apply there
Engineer (Current Employee) - England - 16 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The staff are the best part really good people What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Everything, they see themselves as an employee owned business, but in reality it’s just a few that command all the internal shares, that’s all they are interested in, not the lower staff What is the work environment and culture like at the company? They do have strong business morals but culture and work environment is not healthy, you will never get anywhere unless you have been there all your career

Great people, poor resourcing
Civil Engineer (Current Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 17 October 2023
Great team to work with, lots of support and people willing to share knowledge. Problems with resource management, with either long periods of little to no work, or being very overutilised.

Really draining
Project Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 31 August 2023
Sometimes work is limited and not much interesting projects. 100% project utilisation is impossible to reach, which makes it very stressful when completing timesheets. Don't remember last time I've had a lunch break. Any hour you book to a project will be questioned, no spare time for training and administration.

Jobs at Mott MacDonald
Lots of varied work, lovely social environment and opportunities for younger employees
Graduate environmental & sustainability consultant (Current Employee) - Yorkshire - 17 June 2023
All in all a great company to start your career. Lovely management, great culture and lots of opportunities for those who are looking. Typical consultancy where timesheets can be stressful. Also somewhat slow at promotions and increasing salaries, which may entice you to apply elsewhere after 2-4 years.

Enjoyable workplace
Consultant (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 20 April 2023
Good work life balance, exciting projects, but management structure is very top heavy (lacks middle management to support more junior staff with projects, development etc.) - this can be team-dependent though

A well run, employee owned business
Senior Project Manager (Current Employee) - Glasgow City Centre, Glasgow - 14 March 2023
Some company's talk the talk when it comes to employee welfare, Mott MacDonald walk the walk. You feel part of the team from day one and they look to advance you where possible. They are involved in varied and interesting projects, the nature of these will expand your knowledge and experience. Mott MacDonald have an impressive resource pool, when something crops up outside your comfort zone, they have the expertise in the business, where you can reach back to and they are always willing to help you.
Pros
Flexible working. A good work life balance. A strong ethos on staff wellbeing.
Cons
None

Challenging but very rewarding atmosphere
Site agent (Current Employee) - Thames Valley - 12 March 2023
Company is expending and most people are new to the company or the region. Lots of work and new positions. Often tasks are varied between roles. The company pays well and salary reviews are automatic. There is good recognition from senior management.

Best place I have worked and I expect to retire here
Senior Associate Project Manager (Current Employee) - Brighton - 1 December 2022
Having worked for around 2 years at MM, I have found the company to be focussed on delivering excellence and the wellbeing of its people. The team I work with is full of fantastic individuals who would all go out of their way to help you, despite all being very busy. The company is employee owned so one feels involved in presenting the company well and in its success. I feel understood, valued and looked after with management making the right decisions to ensure this is the case. The IT department are superb with issues dealt with quickly and using quality equipment. Best of all are Motts people. Everyone I meet is thinking and talking about a better society, sustainability, carbon and seeking the best outcomes. I am yet to meet anyone who hasn't been interesting and just very nice to talk to.
Pros
People, Feeling valued, Employee ownership, Good Management, Great IT
Cons
There are so many great initiatives that I don't have time to get involved with.

Overall enjoyable and rewarding
IT Developer (Current Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 6 October 2022
Each day is a bit different to the previous one if you allowed to choose which projects you work on each day. Rarely repetitive tasks. Lots of training provided if you ask for it though. Be ready to advocate for yourself - why you need a salary increase, what you have done, why you want this project, make your manager listen to you (good manager is 80% of success) - and you will find the best work place. Ask and will be given - however of you don't ask...well don't be surprised with the slow career growth.
Pros
Training and conference participation is encouraged, different projects to work on, amazing work-life balance, lovely colleagues and managers, your opinion is valid and valued by the company
Cons
You need to ASK and CHASE to get anything you need - training, salary increase, new project.

Slow, little work, below average salary/benefits.
Engineering Consultant (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 22 August 2022
Advice would be not to believe recruiters when joining. They have a lack of resources so say whatever you want to hear but do not deliver. The salaries are well below average and extremely difficult to get any kind of increase. Management seem to take little interest in their departments, when joined I spent months being bounced around people trying to find me something to do with no end. Work was more like admin than engineering work learning next to nothing so not great for developing as an engineer. Many people get by using buzz words and jargon just waffling. A lot of talk with little action.
Pros
Provide refreshments. Friendly staff.
Cons
No direction. Lack of work. Lack of training. Lack of guidance. Lack of development.

Average Experience
Mechanical Engineering Consultant (Current Employee) - Brighton - 26 July 2022
Overall an average experience. Good work but low pay. Salary progression very dependent on team. Some very poor managers in certain business units. Interesting projects.

Collaborative workplace, supportive management. High workload, good prospects to advance if you have the right skills and attitude
Engineering Geologist (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 1 May 2022
Mott MacDonald is a good company to work for. They have interesting projects, a wide range of skilled employees and is well managed. The IT is excellent, with a good range of specialist software. Training has improved recently. The office environment is modern and hybrid working is the norm, with a minimum of 8 days a month in the office required.
Pros
Friendly environment, good IT
Cons
Some pressure to complete work quickly. Under resourced in some areas.
