Not very good
Receptionist (Former Employee) - Burnley - 12 January 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedStressful, demanding. Getting shouted at by patients for mistakes that aren't your fault. No support, just leave you to do everything until you drown

Awful.
Trainee Dental Nurse/Receptionist (Current Employee) - Exeter - 3 January 2023
Absolutely zero care regarding childcare/sickness issues. Underpaid and overworked. The dentists are rude and entitled. They speak to the nurses in the most appalling manner. Promised to be reimbursed regarding vaccines and never received a penny. 10/10 would not recommend.
Pros
None
Cons
Rude dentists. Underpaid.

more of a business then healthcare
Dental Nurse (Former Employee) - South Shields - 15 December 2022
my experience at my dentist wasn’t off to a good start, got passed from one location to another before starting. the terms agreed weren’t kept, sending staff to over practices almost weekly. expected to cover but with no communication. my dentist seemd to only care about the business side rather than patient care i would not recommend
Pros
Wage, progression
Cons
travel, poor staff morale

Pros

Cons
Poor pay and no progression only if face fits

Stressful environment no respect
Trainee Dental Nurse (Former Employee) - Torpoint, Cornwall - 2 December 2022
You will have no help from management. When higher management come in they don’t acknowledge you. Also very unorganised and no holiday given to you. I have never worked in such a disrespectful environment.

Awful company, only focus is figures and numbers
Trainee Dental Nurse (Current Employee) - Buckinghamshire - 13 November 2022
Since I’ve been in this job we’ve had 3 practice managers, none of which have a clue what they’re doing. There’s No support at all and on top of absolutely no staff (4 nurses to a 7 surgery practice) we’re expected to run a round like headless chickens all day I’ve have no time for training, I got chucked into surgery pretty much as soon as I got my jabs and was expected to perform to the high standard even though I had absolutely no prior experience to nursing The pay is shocking considering the nurses are basically between 2 full time working dentists and hygienists which makes us run into lunch. ( overtime is never authorised) Instead of getting and looking into getting new nurses for the nurse shortages our PM employed a new dentist and hygenist and that in its self just shows they care more about private revenue and figures than their nurses and staffs wellbeing and mental health Awful place, Awful management and awful company.

Worst place I have ever worked
Specialist Orthodontist (Former Employee) - South West - 23 September 2022
Avoid, avoid, avoid! Unless you are desperate don’t work for MyDentist. They treat staff like they are disposable commodities. All about chasing targets and profit. Standards are low, they are recruiting dentists with interests rather than specialists in order to pay less. Always short staffed and lack of resources yet they are pushing for ridiculous targets and only value dentists who can earn the most. Other skills (included specialist qualifications) not valued. Never again!

The amount of work they want for pay in comparison to industry standards is appalling
Treatment Coordinator (Former Employee) - London - 20 September 2022
If your new to dentistry and need somewhere to learn the ropes MyDentist is a big enough to do that and then leave and get the pay you actually deserve. As a treatment co-ordinator the team had a sales target over the 1 million mark in private revenue for just a team of two people. For exceeding that your not taking more than £2000 a year in a bonuses which is poor and a hourly rate of £12 per hour. For the amount of constant hounding, meetings, reviews and pressure your under it’s not worth the pay unless you want your foot in the door into dentistry My advice: if your experienced in dentistry or treatment co-ordinating go elsewhere. If your new to the role, take the role, learn and leave

Happy in my job
Dental Nurse (Current Employee) - North West Lancashire - 10 September 2022
I love the practice I work in. I feel supported on a daily basis. I feel respected and trusted to do my job. I have been a dental nurse for many years and mydentist have always given me security in my job role. The support they gave us through the pandemic was second to none. There have also been a lot of positive movements within mydentist. Although I do feel the pay could be better - as there is a competitive market for nurses at the moment. But I love my job and love coming to work.
Pros
Supportive, Free CPD, Indemnity and GDC registration, Career progression, experienced and supportive managers, state of the art equipment.
Cons
Pay could be better, Expanding Hours as a business

The nurses at my practice get along well. There is a team spirit. Surgeries can get very busy. Some equipment dated. Reception is a challenge. Working hours is reasonable

Not the culture to thrive in
Practice Manager (Former Employee) - North West - 3 August 2022
Some great career advancement of your face fits however if it doesn’t….. You get to work with some great people in an ever changing environment but you are micro managed at a detriment to your personal well-being. Unprofessional in a lot of ways and an environment of embarrassment and humiliation masked in a culture of holding people responsible to helping them develop. No performance reviews, appraisals or development plans for yourself as expected by the business or CQC. Great company of you have a strong stomach. Terrible if you need strong leadership and the ability to grow. Do yourself a favour and stay in retail.

Very busy and pressured role
Qualified dental nurse/receptionist (Former Employee) - Reading - 31 July 2022
I really enjoyed working at Mydentist however I didn't enjoy training over staff members who started after me but were getting paid more, I also didn't enjoy lack of appreciation when staff shortages were a consistent problem which led to alot of pressure on the remaining staff. Lack of support from area managers and corporate who didn't out anything into place to help the pressures the practice were under. I left in 2020, I hope it has got better but I very much doubt it.
