Good place to work although T&Cs gradually being eroded

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Good place to work, salary good with annual bonus. T&Cs are unfortunately being eroded, not as good as it used to be. Very good final salary pension scheme although closed to new members for some time.

Good place to work

Meaningful and fulfilling tasks: Many people find satisfaction in work that allows them to make a positive impact on others or the world.Good relationships with colleagues: Positive working relationships and a supportive work environment can make the job more enjoyable.Learning and personal growth: If your work challenges you and allows you to develop new skills and knowledge, it can be very rewarding.Autonomy and flexibility: Having some control over your work and the ability to manage your time can be a source of enjoyment.

Good company

National grid is a good company and the wages are competitive. You do feel like most of the management cares about your well-being however there is some pretty bad staff shortages and my current role just isn’t for me

Good place to work, but....

Honestly, it's a very good place to work. The pay is pretty good with excellent benefits. Work-life balance is also good. However, the job can get monotonous easily. If you are the 'explorer' type of worker, you will get easily bored.I think it's a very good place to work if you are already in your mid-career level, but I would suggest for early starters to look for other opportunities to get as much experience as they required.

Fantastic place to work

Sometimes slow, but it's goes with the territory very safety driven which is obviously a good thing, no two days are the same management are very understanding and very helpful, all staff are very helpful and treat you like family, definitely a very fun good workplace

Overtime is paid well

No cons

Terrible place to work, fun dies when you enter

This is the worst company I have ever worked for. The company protects and promotes managers that are bullies. If you stand up for yourself, your carrier there will most likely be over as you will be deemed difficult and sensitive. If you are not working in planning or control, your work will most likely be made absolutely senseless by clueless management. If the company didn’t wasn’t a monopoly it would never survive, as the way the things are run is extremely inefficient.

culture, mostly meaningless projects

Still there 15 years later

I have worked there since I was 17 and thoroughly enjoy it. The are lots of job opportunities across the business once you ready to expand your skill set

Great work/life balance

A great place to work

A great place to work, flexibility to deliver and a genuine reliance on your commercial skills and knowledge. Only slight negative is that market supplement needs to catch up with the real market rates being paid for good QS’s

Bureaucratic nightmare

I worked in Regulatory Reporting, Business Services. Fortunately my fellow contractors were great in getting me up to speed. They were a great group of people to work with. It's a shame the same can't be said for the Permanent Band C manager or the hero worship of the departed Band D.Don't go into NG thinking you can change anything, or expect anyone to do anything outside their own job. That might just be the section I was in....

Lack of fair management in my section

Caring and supportive workplace

The Wokingham office is a great place to work, all of the staff are supportive and care about colleagues development. The graduates were all very happy with the graduate scheme

good company providing essential service

A good company providing essential services. Lots of good people willing to help but working on maintaining an infrastructure while using archaic systems and processes, inhibits innovation and productivity.

Good people with relaxed working environment

Not very innovative or productive.

Great place to work with great pay rewards.

Good company to work for with great pay benefits. Out of hours standby rota can prove problematic with family life but it comes with the territory. If you work hard and shows willing you can go far.

Worst place I have ever worked

Dangerous place to work management more interested in numbers than peoples safety they treat contractors like scum avoid as you will regret working for them there are more managers than staff again avoid or you will regret

Waste of time and my life......

An awful, aggressive company towards each other, colleagues and team members in general; consist of people who have been working there far too long and requires a good shake up in my humble opinion. It's not what you know, it's a case whom you know....I would never entertain the thought of working there again ever; ignore their company values as it does not mean anything. The most unprofessional company I have ever come across in my 25yrs of working life...REALLY horrible people!

Toxic management and worked to burnout

If you overwork they love it, until you burnout. They talk of mental health support until you actual suffer with poor mental health caused by their work environment and management style

Good pay and pension

Long hours, no team work, culture of not speaking out

Steady with good atmosphere

The company looks after its employees still and managers are encouraged to develop staff. The company is starting to become more progressive but its a slow process

Autonomy in your job

Sometimes slow and weighed down with process
