Good place to work although T&Cs gradually being eroded
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood place to work, salary good with annual bonus. T&Cs are unfortunately being eroded, not as good as it used to be. Very good final salary pension scheme although closed to new members for some time.

Good company
Consents officer (Current Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 12 September 2023
National grid is a good company and the wages are competitive. You do feel like most of the management cares about your well-being however there is some pretty bad staff shortages and my current role just isn’t for me

Good place to work, but....
Power Systems Engineer (Current Employee) - Warwick - 23 April 2023
Honestly, it's a very good place to work. The pay is pretty good with excellent benefits. Work-life balance is also good. However, the job can get monotonous easily. If you are the 'explorer' type of worker, you will get easily bored. I think it's a very good place to work if you are already in your mid-career level, but I would suggest for early starters to look for other opportunities to get as much experience as they required.

Fantastic place to work
Mechanical and electrical Fitter (Current Employee) - Hampshire - 5 April 2023
Sometimes slow, but it's goes with the territory very safety driven which is obviously a good thing, no two days are the same management are very understanding and very helpful, all staff are very helpful and treat you like family, definitely a very fun good workplace
Pros
Overtime is paid well
Cons
No cons

Terrible place to work, fun dies when you enter
Engineer (Former Employee) - Wokingham, Berkshire - 2 April 2023
This is the worst company I have ever worked for. The company protects and promotes managers that are bullies. If you stand up for yourself, your carrier there will most likely be over as you will be deemed difficult and sensitive. If you are not working in planning or control, your work will most likely be made absolutely senseless by clueless management. If the company didn’t wasn’t a monopoly it would never survive, as the way the things are run is extremely inefficient.
Cons
culture, mostly meaningless projects

A great place to work
Quantity Surveyor (Current Employee) - Nationwide - 4 March 2023
A great place to work, flexibility to deliver and a genuine reliance on your commercial skills and knowledge. Only slight negative is that market supplement needs to catch up with the real market rates being paid for good QS’s

Bureaucratic nightmare
Senior Reporting Analyst (Former Employee) - Remote - 29 January 2023
I worked in Regulatory Reporting, Business Services. Fortunately my fellow contractors were great in getting me up to speed. They were a great group of people to work with. It's a shame the same can't be said for the Permanent Band C manager or the hero worship of the departed Band D. Don't go into NG thinking you can change anything, or expect anyone to do anything outside their own job. That might just be the section I was in....
Pros
Wfh
Cons
Lack of fair management in my section

good company providing essential service
Manager (Current Employee) - Derby, Derbyshire - 3 September 2022
A good company providing essential services. Lots of good people willing to help but working on maintaining an infrastructure while using archaic systems and processes, inhibits innovation and productivity.
Pros
Good people with relaxed working environment
Cons
Not very innovative or productive.

Great place to work with great pay rewards.
Line worker (Current Employee) - Kettering, Northamptonshire - 25 August 2022
Good company to work for with great pay benefits. Out of hours standby rota can prove problematic with family life but it comes with the territory. If you work hard and shows willing you can go far.

Waste of time and my life......
Service Delivery (Former Employee) - Warwickshire - 24 May 2022
An awful, aggressive company towards each other, colleagues and team members in general; consist of people who have been working there far too long and requires a good shake up in my humble opinion. It's not what you know, it's a case whom you know.... I would never entertain the thought of working there again ever; ignore their company values as it does not mean anything. The most unprofessional company I have ever come across in my 25yrs of working life...REALLY horrible people!

Toxic management and worked to burnout
Strategy Project Manager (Former Employee) - Warwick, Warwickshire - 1 May 2022
If you overwork they love it, until you burnout. They talk of mental health support until you actual suffer with poor mental health caused by their work environment and management style
Pros
Good pay and pension
Cons
Long hours, no team work, culture of not speaking out

Sometimes slow and weighed down with process
