Welcome to National Highways. We’re the government-owned company responsible for planning, designing, building, operating and maintaining 4,500 miles of England’s motorways and major A-roads.

We manage one of the most advanced, and safest, road networks in the world. We also provide information and assistance to the millions of people who use our roads every day.

What we do is fundamental to everyone’s life every day, whether they use our network or not. We enable work journeys and home deliveries, visits to loved ones, holidays, plus the movement of the goods and services we all depend on.

Individually, we’re engineers, project managers, analysts and planners. We’re experts in risk, finance, efficiency, technology and marketing. We are leaders, thinkers and doers.

We’re at the forefront of some of the biggest challenges the UK is facing, from helping motorway service areas to develop a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles to finding new ways to achieve our ambitious goal of zero harm on our network.

From our talented and supportive people to our unique and fascinating challenges, there are many great reasons to work here.
