Interesting work, Poor Culture
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Warrington, Cheshire - 28 April 2023
The work at NNL is varied and interesting, with some of the work being genuinely pioneering. However, in my experience, the main 'con' with working at NNL is the pockets of poor culture they allow to exist.

Poor culture
Technical Support (Current Employee) - Sellafield, Cumbria - 15 December 2022
The staff are miserable and unhelpful. You are expected to know things you couldn’t possibly know as someone new to the business. No one is willing to help. Everyone keeps their distance. Looking for something else already

Good place to work
Procurement Manager (Former Employee) - Home Based - 11 July 2022
Great company to work for. They promoted and delivered excellent work life balance. The support from management was second to none. There was collaboration cross functionally and within teams which was refreshing and engaging.

Challenging but ultimately rewarding working environment
Assistant Project Manager (Current Employee) - Warrington, Cheshire - 3 December 2019
NNL has a very welcoming environment for its new starters, the work done by NNL is very interesting and provides lots of opportunity for development for young people looking to make a strong start in any future career. Every team i have been involved with have the best interests of their own team members and support them as best as possible.

Worst Place to Work
Projects (Former Employee) - Preston - 9 August 2019
The culture is very bad and a lot of politics and if you can not play along office politics you are out of the door. I left as I was not comfortable with the office politics and the culture.
The management and the Project Management Authority are worst. A lot of people have left and will continue leaving and management seems not to bother to look into the reasons people are leaving. Worst place to work.
Pros
Not a good company
Cons
Poor managment, bad culture and bullying by PMA

Highly pressurised
Junior Project Manager (Former Employee) - Risley, Cheshire - 8 April 2019
Generally okay place to work.
Diversity was shocking. I try not to think of it as a reason for my redundancy.Sadly experienced some snobbish people. Generally didn't find my time there comfortable.
Politics at senior level affected projects and thus contract lengths were reduced.
My short interaction with the CEO was pleasant which was a saving grace.
Would I work there again? I'm not so sure.

Great People, BUT!
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Warrington, Cheshire - 19 September 2018
lots of great people at NNL sadly the current culture feels quite abrasive and lots of people are looking to leave.
The physical working environment isn't great - office can be noisy
Office looks tired and lack of meeting spaces

Cruel
Business Administration Apprentice (Former Employee) - Warrington - 12 April 2018
I was laid off as a apprentice, don't trust this company if it's still going. If you are particularly good at your field of work then this could be a amazing job.

Really interesting science
I really enjoyed the technical aspect of my work and most of my work was technical. I had a great time with the team in Reactor Analysis
The company is really good. Good T&Cs. I got five days honeymoon leave - no one does that!
Good progression and opportunity to become chartered with the Institute of Physics. I understand that other institutes are just as accessible.
Pros
Not allowed to bring work home (for some projects)

Decent Place to Work
Senior Project Engineer (Current Employee) - Sellafield, Cumbria - 19 February 2017
Over two spells at this company spanning 15 years, I have been able to develop a range of skills, roles and knowledge of project support and management roles alongside a strong understanding of customer relations and commercial aspects.
The culture at the workplace is good and I have been able to make many good working relationships and friends over the years.
However, there can be a lack of understanding of how much effort and time is required to deliver requirements of a role and provide the support to achieve this. Overall though I have appreciated and enjoyed my time there to date.

Interesting times for Nuclear Industry
Research Technician (Former Employee) - Workington - 10 August 2016
As the chinese proverb states beware of interesting times. The government will need to make its decision soon on nuclear power for the UK and this will affect the NNL
Pros
Lovely place to work in the summer
Cons
Horrible and cold in the winter

Work Placement
Work Placement (Former Employee) - Preston - 21 July 2016
This was a work placement so would be unfair to give a review on whether it is a good or bad place to be employed, but I enjoyed my short time there.
