Network Rail London employee reviews

Commercial Property Manager in London
on 1 November 2022
Engineering and safety focused
I worked in Network Rail Infrastructure. It was a good place to work with interesting work and an expectation that you will take responsibility for the thorough delivery of the work you are responsible for to a high level of quality. There is a focus on health and safety across the entire organisation and an overiding focus on the rail network and the engineering function.

Fun but very low pay
Fun but low pay, can progress fast within the company, long hours!Fantastic colleagues. The review wants me to write more but I don’t have anything else to say really!

Great place to work
Completed my apprenticeship and then got a job straight away. I had the opportunity for promotion within 2 years. Training is good, but sometimes a struggle to get on courses if management don't deem it essential
Assistant Track Maintenance Engineer in London South East, Greater London
on 5 August 2022
Brilliant for long haul career seekers.
Negatives; nepotism is rife in the company. HR are slow and unhelpful. Managers are often untrained and inexperienced. Lacking diversity at the top. Management bands often underpaid. Waste is everywhere in the company. Impossible to fire anyone. Positives; decent benefits, lots of scope for self development, secondments are common place, decent pay for non management roles. Relaxed. You probably won’t ever get fired.
Customer Service Assistant in London/Kent

Front line staff culture & no benefits.
Shift work, no flexible working but you have to be flexible for them & cover all shifts over seven days. Your health or work life balance is irrelevant to them - you follow the rota. Strange work colleagues; foreign & indigenous; clearly displaying signs of mental retardedness - SSMs'/managers are usually promoted from these ranks. Pay has dropped considerably since I started (was on old contract) & I would not want to do it on the current salary. Silly polyester uniform is given & you are supposed to feel proud wearing it & eager to help low IQ customers' with their enquiries - all on low pay. They can't even give you free train travel to make up for the low wages!
