Network Rail Employee Review

Brilliant for long haul career seekers.

Negatives; nepotism is rife in the company. HR are slow and unhelpful. Managers are often untrained and inexperienced. Lacking diversity at the top. Management bands often underpaid. Waste is everywhere in the company. Impossible to fire anyone. Positives; decent benefits, lots of scope for self development, secondments are common place, decent pay for non management roles. Relaxed. You probably won’t ever get fired.

A steady, secure workplace

Work involves a lot of responsibility, mostly regarding health and safety, but you are rewarded with decent pay, work conditions and a 'job for life'. Seemingly heading towards more weekend and night working for maintenance staff

Very Productive.

Good team ethic in the area. Very diverse challenges make the workplace fascinating. The company itself is making good strides in becoming a diverse workforce. Safety is at the forefront of everything that is planned and worked on.

Great place to work

Completed my apprenticeship and then got a job straight away. I had the opportunity for promotion within 2 years. Training is good, but sometimes a struggle to get on courses if management don't deem it essential

Pros

Great salary, 75% off travel

Cons

Slow pace when managers make decisions
