Network Rail Employee Review

Awful place to work and terrible people management

Too many reorganisations within some departments, hiring of managers who have no understanding of processes on teams, many managers are unskilled in people management and at worse lack basic empathy. When I left the company via voluntary severance moral in the Manchester service centre was at an all time low, it was going that way even before the pandemic started. I was witness to multiple unethical practices. Leaving the company after over 10 years serviced filled my with joy, it was an utter relief and weight of my shoulders

Ok place to work

It’s ok pay wise but it’s very clicky felt like the chance to move up was to do with who you were and not what you could do. Some managers in certain areas would already have decided if your face fits

Not bad

Life in the rail lane of constant change and delivering excellence. However the industry is going through a lot of change and will continue to do so.

Great prior to Covid. Now an underpaying company

Network rail salaries are no longer competitive. Underpaid now compared to other companies and it used to be one of. the higher paying companies. It’s a worrying time for NR workers.

Pros

Annual leave, pension, home working

Cons

Salary. Senior managers. Helpdesk work till 8pm but very quiet after 6pm so no need
