A great company to work for
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Liverpool - 28 May 2021
Featured review
Newcross Healthcare Solutions selected this as a representative reviewI have only been with Newcross for just over 4 weeks and by far one of the best companies I have worked for, they are so supportive and go out of their way to help. They are always at the end of the phone if you need anything. If you lose a shift they will go out of their way to try and get you another one. The office staff, especially the ones I have spoken to are very warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would shout out to everyone to work for Newcross, they are the best.
Pros
Warm, kind and friendly staff, work/life balance great, Salary very good. Just a great company to work for.
Cons

Great flexible job
HCA (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 16 September 2023
I’ve worked for the Exeter branch for 9 years as a HCA It really suits me because I can pick and choose when I work. Just recently I received a £50 gift card for recognition of my care which was a cool surprise. If you are looking for flexible work with a decent hourly rate then Newcross is for you 😊
Pros
Good pay

Barely get work and lack communication
Home Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Runcorn - 15 September 2023
Promise the world and guarantee hours. Say they aren’t agency but work exactly like an agency. You’ll give your availability and get no response, most weeks you’re without work. When you try and communicate they don’t respond or respond very late with no actual answer. Will apologise and say they will look into it but do the exact opposite. The only time they communicate properly is when they’re desperate for cover and ring you an hour before the shift should start. Packages they have vary in hourly rate so you’ll be assigned to a package but the hours are already taken. You’ll have people being given 60 hours a week and you get 6 but they will say there aren’t any hours there. When you ask for a different package they ignore you. Overall, management and communication is shocking. The environment when you are working is quite hostile and everyone complains about the management on shift.
Pros
Money
Cons
Don’t get the hours to earn the amazing hourly rate they brag about

Hard work but enjoyable and rewarding.
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Poole - 11 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Can chose your hours leaves you the flexibility to work when you want have weekends off of you wish . What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Shifts can be cancelled at the last minute there are no guarantees of work and some weeks you may get no work at all. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I enjoy working for them and find my manager supportive . What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very busy and can be exhausting.

Lack of communication & consideration for employees
HCA/Phlebotomist (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 25 August 2023
False advertisement of job and it’s description; also, rate of pay range was advertised as £18-£32 but when pay was discussed after interview they mentioned that anything above £18 was for advanced nurses only; meanwhile they were only hiring phlebotomists anyway as it was advertised as a phlebotomist position. There was an astonishing amount of non existent work which made us wonder why they even hired us to begin with, we kept being told that contracts would be closing for future clientele even know this never happened and us employees were consistently waiting for open communication from the management. We were also told that there would be some great opportunities for us but upon discussion this turned out to be false and a ploy to force us into working in care homes as healthcare assistants. This is something I was very disappointed and frustrated about as we were hired phlebotomists and when concerns were voiced, management did not seem to care but rather doubled down on this. So decided to give working in a care home a try until I realised that the care home didn’t even understand why we were put there! The staff at the care home made us feel so unwelcome and left out and even made up lies about us to attack our character despite the efforts we put in when we shouldn’t have even been there in the first place. When I gave management feedback about this, it was not followed up. Newcross also don’t seem to care about the health of its employees and would prefer staff change the dates and times of doctor’s appointments despite giving notice well in advance. The reality -

Narrow minded recruitment process
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - South West - 24 August 2023
The company offers minimum wage for health care assistant jobs. They say £15 an hour but offer if you pressure them £11. No clear answer. You have to have worked for a company to be accepted. They don’t accept you if you have been self employed. They don’t make a holistic view of your competence or education. I’ve worked 20 years in care and was not accepted. I’m glad I didn’t get the job. They made me feel bad in the recruitment process. It’s better you get a contract with an employer. Same wage plus holiday and sick pay and you don’t need to stress around to different care homes.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Minimum wage, no sick pay, narrow minded recruitment process

Long booked Shifts get cancelled within 24 hours.
SW/HCA/Meds. (Current Employee) - South West - 15 August 2023
At this company it is very hard to organise my earnings to be over a specific fixed amount when they cancel shifts at a moments notice! It is their clients prerogative. There is no compensation for these lost work days like there is at other agencies, where it, therefore, happens less, as this fee acts as a deterrent to companies booking up agency staff all month and then finding a cheaper alternative at the last minute. If Newcross experiences no consequence of this for themselves, they won’t do anything to help you. The compensation also protects staff from this life disruption and loss of earnings and inability to organise their life because of companies taking advantage of staff bookings. The feeling that the rights of their client certainly comes before their own staff, even when it’s unfair, reiterates the companies reputation of holding capitalism superior at first place. I was also sent home from an early morning weekend shift because Newcross had double booked me, so not only losing another days pay, and time & effort spent getting up early, but also driving a total of 1 hour there & back was all completely ignored and dismissed, not to mention cancelling and paying the babysitter for my children -complete obliviousness & ignored - not important. No care for ‘mere’ staff produces their now lessened staff morale, which affects the service and the front face that the staff provide for Newcross.
Cons
Many cancelled shifts.

Good pay and lovely clients, but communication needs to improve
Complex Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Bristol - 15 August 2023
I enjoy supporting people with complex care needs such as brain injuries and rare genetic diseases. I learned a lot and built so much confidence. The pay is good too and I worked with some of the best colleagues I’ve ever come across in my 10 year experience in care. There were a number of times I needed support and the office staff were unresponsive. I called and emailed times during a difficult time for me, I was passed around but no one got back to me. I felt let down and like no one cared about my health. No one seems to be organised or working collaboratively. There are often lots of mistakes on the rota and there is no communication with us unless shifts need covering. As much as I am enjoying my job, I don’t see myself working here long term because of the lack of communication and interest in our well-being.

There are no enough shifts, when shift are posted it goes in few seconds. You can stay for months without getting any job yet they keep employing new people.

Okay when you can get work
Support Worker and Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Mansfield - 11 August 2023
Newcross used to be a great place to work with lots of clients and opportunities to work daily. Currently they have changed things and you only have a chance to get work If you are friendly with someone at a place that requires you so they can book you on themselves. Locally there is nothing for work.
Pros
Reasonable pay
Cons
No work

Unfair prejudice job
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 6 August 2023
Newcross healthcare is so unfair and prejudiced - they're always judging people without any real evidence. It's not right! There is a problem with the HFGo app, and you have to wait an extremely long time to accept shifts. You may get a shift if someone does not accept before you if you are lucky
Pros
Autoassign is never work
Cons
HFGo app is faulty

Great it is to work with Newcross
Health Care Assistant / Support Worker (Current Employee) - Porthcawl, Bridgend - 4 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Worker / Company relationship is cordial and carer centered. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The shifts been put out in short notices and when booked in advance can be cancelled by the client or company without pre-informed reason or notice. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Its fair enough to enable serious minded carers to thrive What is a typical day like for you at the company? I am usually on work site so its the work situation at the care home or residence that i can say its fair enough as we work with different people sometimes and other times same carers.
