Contracts and Auditing Officer (Former Employee) - London - 6 December 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI was a contractor so they needed someone to help with a crisis matter for a short time to enable them to continue with their work load. Systems are good, management are very supportive and work flow was quite managable.
Pros
systems, management, staff and salary
Cons
on personal biases, its the distance from where I live

Poor company,
FRA carpenter (Former Employee) - East London - 4 April 2022
Poor company to work for, management is shocking, pay is poor and the contractors are a joke. People talk behind your back and too many managers pets

Be under no illusion you are only ever a number!
HGV Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Refuse / cleansing - 24 February 2022
After 36 years with this borough council I can assure anyone who wishes to be valued as a worker who can contribute will be disappointed. The only reason I stayed for so long is that your work hours are not long 37 per week on average and the pension is not bad (not great but not bad) If your the type of person who can switch their brain off and not worry about seeing people of questionable intellect get management positions because they know the right people, then Newham council maybe the place for you.
Pros
Union and Pension
Cons
Nobody cares (least of all the residents of Newham)

No good
7.5t Driver (Former Employee) - Newham, Greater London - 29 September 2020
No good job no good people. One week, never again hated it and was so glad to leave. The agency did not pay me so I did not go to work the manager wanted me to work without pay so that was the end of that.

Poor place to work
Repairs Manager (Former Employee) - Bridge Road Depot - 21 May 2020
The union is running the company by bullying tactics used on people that don’t agree with there wants. The union Stuart's only care about what they want not what is right for Newham tenants. The Council need to toughen up and Say NO to the Unions weekly requests for a easy life and tell them to move forward with the rest of the industry

Delivery driver
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - London - 15 December 2019
Worked for a sub company for newham council as a delivery driver part time with a regular route and routine I was on time for all delivery. No problem then a colleague resigned and without notice I was given his round with the same start and finish time for no extra money I was obviously late for some delivery and got blened for being late by the clients so I resigned

Lacks absolute professionalism
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - STARTFORD - 7 December 2019
You cannot trust anyone in this council as they do not recognise or reward those that deserve it instead it is who they know gets up the ladder and it is all about favouritism. Not a single staff is happy working for this council

Fun work place
Estate Assistant (Former Employee) - London - 1 December 2019
There would be a meeting every morning and we were put into small groups. This helped me become punctual and meet deadlines as efficiently as possible, as well as this it also helped me work in small teams and large teams where we would have to communicate constantly to solve problems of different levels.

Training Manager (Former Employee) - Hamilton road East lomdon - 7 November 2019
Newham Council was a great place to work before the redundancies started. I'm not sure how it is now but it was a great place to work. As I was working with a number of schools in the Borough most of my time was spent out of the office delivering training sessions and attending meetings.

Fun workplace
Instrumental Tutor (Former Employee) - Newham, Greater London - 9 September 2019
Every child can achieve their highest potential with the help of tutors who are doing their best to deliver excellent tuition to them. With a little bit more help the company could be well organised. Maybe they should provide more opportunities for admin workers to help tutors out. Communication between tutors and office can be improved. Excellent opportunity both for children and tutors to become wonderful musicians.
