Next Doncaster - amazing place to work
Customer Support Representative (Former Employee) - Doncaster - 11 September 2023
Every day is different, every customer is different. We were always busy, there was always someone who knew the answer to the question you didn't. I learned to always be there for new staff once I settled in and to always big my colleagues up when they did well. This was my entry to customer service and I was really sad when I had to leave when we relocated. Management were exceptional and supportive both on my team and any other team I worked along side. The workplace culture was exceptional comfy workspace, amazing office, chill out area etc. For me the hardest part of the job was having to resign due to a house move. Every day was the best part of the job. Although you do get miserable customers they are often forgotten about when you get your next call.
Pros
Good staff focus, my training was second to none leaving me ready to start and help customers
Cons
Can get busy, some customers will have a go, however, most are fantastic. The biggest con was the mere fact I was moving too far away to commute for work

Productive, lovely people to work with
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Fareham - 11 September 2023
Working as a seasonal sales assistant was very busy, but everyone worked as a team to get the jobs done. Management were lovely, would have liked a little more guidance.

Treated with disrespect, management picks favourites and treats everyone else like dirt
Team Member (Former Employee) - Hull City Centre, East Riding of Yorkshire - 9 September 2023
Got promised the moon and back in the interview, told I’d get tonnes of overtime, be trained on different departments etc. In the end, I got none of this. Managers do barely any training and leave you on the till going through the online stuff. Was expected to just tidy clothes for my whole shifts, given no actual jobs to do and not allowed on the till until a month into working there. Given no uniform allowance so had to wear my own clothes. When trying to get overtime, the hours i managed to secure were taken off me for vague reasons, and in one instance my overtime was actually given to another employee while I was told I would not be able to work it. Went on bereavement during my shift, and after explaining this via the stupid yapster app, I was offered no condolences and no support, instead the manager just berated me for messaging them on the app instead of calling. Whole time I was made to feel as if the manager had a vendetta against me, and it was wholly just an uncomfortable experience. Wouldn’t recommend working here if you can avoid it.
Pros
Can’t even think of one if I’m honest, the pay is rubbish too
Cons
No bereavement support, management think they have the right to treat employees like dirt, no health and safety training aside from online quizzes

Going to work to be treated like you don't matter is a great experience
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Wakefield - 9 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The company only ever takes you on for 12 weeks if you don't hit bonuses of 7 or more they just get rid of you I have seen them call people to the managers desk and tell them it would be there last day working there and they would not be coming back the next day just like that the training received is very good but I felt I was taken on just in time as they had a sale promotion on at the time after that you just felt you was not needed anymore I remember being paid £250 for a week on training doing 5 days on a night shift ludicrous? when I left they would be hiring again they hemorrhage staff all the time I feel sorry for people going to work there thinking they would be having a great career just to be let down at the end of it in still waiting for my p 60 from them I was told to look for it in the wages portal and also I had worked there for 5 weeks and did not receive any wage slips untill I complained about this in a word this company is out for themselves you are just no one they don't care What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Hitting bonuses or sack I remember sitting down on a shift for 10 hours with no work on the belts which of course affected the bonus then after the shift had nearly come to an end the work suddenly appeared I was not employed by next I was hired by mach employment agency so had no rights the company always puts their own staff first if you worked for the agency you had to take what ever work they dished out then every day agency guy came and told you you would have a score -

Great company for young people. Work is easy and simple. Nice canteen and hot/chillies food available. Management pretty similar to all other big corporations.

Awful
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Warrington - 1 September 2023
It’s like being in a highschool. Literally horrendous and the managers do nothing to support. The breaks are awful and the overall company culture is horrific

Toxic and unfair treatment of good staff
Advisor (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 26 August 2023
Awful management who don't listen or help when most needed. Clear favouritism and lack of important information for staff at bottom tier who are expected to just know where they stand with their role. Poorly paid for the amount of work carried out. Near impossible to hit a bonus and the stats are never right so no bonus is ever guaranteed. The company is too busy trying to save money by employing less staff and getting the good ones to do more work which will of course force them out eventually. That's the truth.

Pay, Management, Progress
Customer Service, credit advisor (Former Employee) - Leicester - 26 August 2023
Too many issues with the pay it has been a year and still not sorted. you can’t approach the payroll or HR to get your pay sorted. Management is useless too focused on getting their jobs done then getting your query resolved . they are too busy they make every excuse to make sure you don’t hit your target to get the full bonus even after a customer has given you excellent service but if you get a “no” for query not resolved ( which is not your fault it’s Next procedure etc that takes time ) you will still loose your bonus . Your manager will not remove that ‘ No ‘ which affects the bonus you get paid . Too many systems to navigate to do one job making it very complicated to do one adjustment. They do not give you updates on how the company is progressing. Many people leave within the 2 years due to insecurity and they do not offer incentives to working from home. It takes ages and procedures targets etc etc to apply for working from home .

Stressful!
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Doncaster - 23 August 2023
I love fast paced and Next is certainly that. However management are unprofessional and very condescending. The store manager is very harsh and I feel that many people agree with me. Team leaders are also not very nice to staff. It's very "clicky" and if you don't fit in you know about it!
Pros
None
Cons
Bad management and awful working environment

Too much work want your to hit bonus
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - South Elmsall - 23 August 2023
Hard job put you around the warehouse on different jobs then expect you to hit bonus when you haven’t been on the job for months They’re obsessed with productivity then when you don’t hit their productivity they are threatening you with disciplinary action By the time you get home from your 8 hour shift your really tired with the amount of walking you do Now they are trying to change all shifts to 6 hours and 12 hours 8 hours is enough in that place never mind 12 I won’t be there much longer had enough of it and it’s got to the point I dread going
Pros
Good people work there
Cons
Long hours

Worst work experience of my life
Next - Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Enderby, Leicestershire - 23 August 2023
Honestly if I could give this a lesser rating than one I would. I traveled an hour to get to this work place using the public bus that ended up being quite difficult so luckily next offered a staff bus. You would think that’s great but the bus never turned up to work on time, you would exit in the car park and make it to your seat with about 30 seconds to spare before starting. But if you could not be logged in and signed into the portal dead on 9am they deducted 15 minutes of your pay. This bus was meant to support me and was one of the reasons I felt confident about getting to work but it ended up docking my pay by the 100s. What did I learn… definitely that I can hold my own peace for a number of months while I felt let down by my career. That I can keep calm when the managers would create such uneasy situations. And how to reboot my computer about 20 times a day (this was the solution to all our tech issues) The management is probably the poorest part of this whole set up, some of these people have been managers for so long they are unwilling to hear about changes that needed to be made. They performed a meeting to hear what we all had to say and there were so many points they ended the meeting early and nothing actually changed out of that. Sounds ridiculous but it was heartbreaking that they never took simple changes on bored that would have boosted the mood in the office. They are also such a close group of friends that reporting one manager for poor behaviours such as rolling eyes at you, making horrible comments about yourself, or just slacking in the support -
Pros
It was worth the call experience
Cons
Poor management

Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Manvers - 19 August 2023
The management are just bullies everything is your fault they are good with you if you are a female. The people you work with just want to find out your business and spread it. When I first started it was really fun and enjoyable but now it’s all gone really sour the best advice I can give is don’t work there you will really regret it
Pros

Cons
Management, pay, bonus and work colleagues

Don't work for the Call Centre
Team Manager (Online Chat & Enquiries) (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 16 August 2023
Pay is just above minimum. Poor management, in fact can be toxic. Poor staff management, difficult customers where even though you're right, you'll be blamed.
Pros
Staff discount
Cons
Poor pay
