Opportunities for experience, but leadership quality patchy

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
If you don’t like your role here, give it 18 months as there’s a good chance your team will be reshuffled and/or reorganised. The flip side of all this deckchair-rearranging, or the expectation that you’ll want to move on every 2 years, is that team cultures can vary widely. This can result in senior managers occasionally being very remote; in the worst cases it’s possible for them to get away with unprofessional / borderline-bullying behaviour.

Not a bad place to work at

Everyone I have ever worked with was very kind and helpful. If I had any questions they wouldn't hesitate to take a few minutes out of their duties to show me how to do something.Everything was pretty much a smooth experience except for the supervisors... extremely pushy and rude, did not care about the staff's well-being as long as they would do the tasks they give and usually those tasks can be extremely unrealistic to achieve before my shift is over.So overall, the workplace itself was fine, the equipment was fine, most of the people except the supervisors were great to work with.

Pros

Helpful and lovely colleagues, good overtime pay and good weekend pay.

Cons

Supervisors can sometimes be extremely rude, pushy and expect 3 days worth of work in 1 day.

Not recommended

The definition of understaffed and overworked. Full of awful miserable people only there to collect their pay and leave. A very anti-management environment. Work culture is worse than dramatic high school teens. Everyday is so draining, my mental health rapidly declined here

NHS is going down

NHS is sinking and unfortunately I need to leave whilst I’m still alive.Only thing that can save it is privatisation. Theres very little respect for staff and absolutely no patience. Very little movement upwards

Great teams

Teams were great. But the management side is a total s##t show. Way too top heavy with management and at times workloads were unrealistic. But generally most of the staff on aide or off site are all spot great people and have a good laugh whilst cracking on with the work even under the pressure.

Nhs

Working in the NHS as a nurse is hard for everyone, which everyone will understand. Nurses are underpaid and the NHS is understaffed which puts increased pressure on nurses.

I thought I'd be proud to work for the NHS but...

I thought I'd be proud to work for the NHS but the reality is that they're all overworked, underpaid and there's far too much money wasted on senior staff. The shifts are brutal form start to end. The rosta's are harsh and not always given in plenty of time for you to plan your life around.

Repetitive work

It is really boring working on the same ward all the time and also it gets really hot in the summer the time working in the top floor. Do not trust the staff you work with.

Good for clinical experience

It's a good way to earn practical clinical experience. The job itself is physically demanding. You'll be on your feet for long hours but if you prefer that over an office job just like I do, then it's not going to affect you. The pay was alright given that it's different rotas every week, so you won't have set hours. But management wasn't the best.

Wasted my time through working for a rubbish supply company

Worst experience of my life, NHS personnel were hostile, hated the supply company I worked through. The supply company was a waste of time, no clear management direction lack of communication. Bad politics throughout, I could not wait for the contract to end

Pros

Nothing whatsoever

Cons

Everything, including daiiy hostilities from NHS staff

The job was great but you cant pick who you work with

I enjoyed the role and supporting the director. It's a good company to work for. The senior management are professional and I enjoyed working with most of the PA's. On thewhild most people are friendly. However, I had a pariculwry bad experience with the CEOs PA who excelled in seeing others fail. She took great pleasure in being unprofessional with school girl tactics!

Horrendous Place

The worst experience in my career. The management game play and use lower grade workers as pawns. Bullying is rife. Whilst there are many highly intelligent people employed there the systems and ways of working are slow, inadequate and antiquated.

Progress

It is hard to progress through the ranks, if you do not possess medical qualifications or if you have not worked for NHS over 5 years or in some cases it may even be more
