Fast paced workplace

Indeed featured review

own manager is lovely however big bosses and clinicians do not have any respect for admin. NHS do not pay on workload so you could be doing all the work in the world however if it is not classes as clinical you will not get paid enough.

Pros

Secure job

Don’t do the apprenticeship

No opportunity to progress. Management don’t care about staff. The apprenticeship is so unorganised and once you have completed it there isn’t much opportunity to progress.

Some good some bad

Really depends where you go most places are good quite flexible with child care/hours if you tell them before you start your pay increases yearly to begin with and it is secure most fellow staff members are great with the odd exception. Managers however are completely useless in the NHS it’s like a requirement to hire someone who doesn’t have any people skills or a clue how to manage to get the job and that’s a running theme throughout the NHS. If you can put up with that then you’re sorted.

Overworked and undervalued

managers refuse to hire on more staff, pushing too much work on people, regulary remaking teams to handle whatever is the most urgent topic at hand, often putting an unfair workload on temps(such as myself) who dont receive training meaning meaning staff turnover isd high even for permenent positions. Job culture is to basically stay on topic with managers regualry coming over with more work or complaining when enough isn't done, any attempt to converse is often put down within a couple of mintues unless its work related. BIggest issue i had was that Ideas to improve are taken by management and either ignored or overused to an extent people begged for things to stay as they were All in all the only upside to working in this office was that the hours were flexible though overtime was pretty much a nessescity if you hoped to handle the workload, especilly for untrained temps

Pros

flexible working hours

Cons

poor management

Horrible place to work

I worked in a dark, cold, horrible office with awful colleagues and dreaded going in everyday. Gossip was disgusting for such a small office. Bored, middle aged women with nothing better to talk about. Management were not very supportive and spent all day complaining about personal health issues which made the working environment unbearable . Personally, i do not think enough training was provided and the wages were shocking. Signed off work by the doctor due to stress and anxiety and never returned... thank god!

Fair

Supportive management on a daily basis. Some flexibility in day to day working. Adequate training offered although sometimes travel a long distance is needed to access these training courses.
