Indeed featured review

What is the best part of working at the company?Hybrid working, kind and considerate colleagues What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Outdated systems and procedures. Too much paperwork when it could be all digitalised and streamlined What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very good- managers do look after their employees’ wellbeing What is a typical day like for you at the company?Heaps of paperwork- also using many separate systems to complete tasks

Depressing, demoralising and stressful.

What is the best part of working at the company? The leave entitlement of 27 days + BHs is good. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The lack of cohesion across the organisation and poor leadership. Changing anything is a huge struggle. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Bizarre most of the time. It’s a strange combination of laissez faire and authoritarianism. It feels as if you could walk in one day and everything would be different, it’s just that you never know when it might happen. Very disconcerting. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Repetitive and relentless with no acknowledgment of my achievements - ever.

Depressing work environment

The buildings are very old although they are rebuilding, established admin staff do not seem to welcome new people and are resistant to change. Didn't feel empowered in anyway.

Good life work balance

Very tolerant place to work, friendly environment. There is no pressure to hit target. This place cares about people. You don't feel like you are only number.

No change of progression

Been through 3 different organisations and everyone of them is no better than the last. No change of progression unless your very friendly with management

Good people but progression within or out of admin very difficult

Good people to work with and support. Morale dependent on the specialty you are working in. Given the location, good pay, although that is changing with many bandings being downgraded so that new starters do same job for considerably less than the last incumbent. Management; inconsistent, depends largely on who you work for. Progression; limited. If you are looking at applying for an admin role with a view to making your way into management, you will need a degree or NVQs. There is no such thing as 'transferable skills'.

Good colleagues, fairly reasonable pay, flexible employer

Lack of progression, recognition

Don't Waste Your Time!

Hired with the promise of constant work as they have more roles than staff but once hired found it very difficult to get work. They expect you to call in every day to see if work is available and will not call you to offer you work even if they are desperate.Worst form of empoyment I have had or seen! The whole team needs re-training on how to actually employ people into work and also how to make contact with workers rather than leave it to them to call in every day.

Underpaid, no training is provided. Some departments are better, depends on the management but overall very difficult to reach any managers. Support usually provided by peers

Worst job I've ever had

Poor managers. No processes (shouldn't happen in the NHS). High admin staff turnover. Huge workloads with tight deadlines. Dozens of emails not able to answer. Lots of responsibility for low pay. Staff expected to take on extra duties outside their pay grade. Rude & aggressive patients. Not a clinical role, just admin support staff. Fixed term contract only extended a few days before finish date.

Great place to work

I have worked here for 4 years and can say it is a great place to work with really supportive management and colleagues. Very rewarding job in total to help patients.

Overworked due to short staffing.

No support from the management. Often short staff. No recognition for our work no trainings available to support our jobs. It was frustrating and depressing to work. Salary is unbelievable that you can’t even afford to rent a sharing accommodation.

A lot to mention

Training good but when bank working not much support

Training good and thorough although some of it irrelevant. Spent more time in Training than on the bank working. I did not like the environment but others seem happy enough.

Great for a foot in to the NHS

Great place to be a foundation for your NHS Career. It’s fast paced stressful and overwhelming for some. favouritism is very clear as are cliques amongst senior staff

Great foundation

Poor mgmt, no room for advancement

Fun working environment

Great friendly staff, the company offers a lot of development. Very rewarding to work for. The management was great. The only downside was that when I left due to not getting a permanent contract was that the payroll department can take a lot of unnecessary money from your final pay check and refused to pay money owed from travel expenses etc.

Lot or phone work. Difficult communication. Long hours. No incentives. Remote working so felt very isolated when any issues arise. Don't support you.

Busy and friendly

It’s a busy office environment and important to the running of the wards, but the wages are average and could be better… the work loads is big and some days you leave feeling like you didn’t achieve much… the people are lovely, but the location for parking isn’t great…

Discount on lunch, grade steps

No parking, weekend rota

Exhausting work, with very little appreciation

As a receptionist and admin assistant I found the work exhausting, so no wonder there’s a high turnover of staff. Seems to be little appreciation by management of how above and beyond their staff go. My manager never put in place reasonable adjustments and worked people like dogs. There is no thanks for anything you may do, and your only appreciation is the pay.

Camaraderie amongst staff

Long hours, no reasonable adjustments

I got lucky

I'm acutely aware the NHS is far from perfect in terms of working for the organisation. I'm so lucky i landed a job with an amazing team but there are serious bullying issues in the NHS and very clique in some departments. Management are OK but it is the same as the police, folks in Management got there because of who they know not what they know and this is reflected literally all day every day. Very clueless managers, not to say they're bad people, but they really haven't a clue. Also lots of sloppy shoulders. 3/5 for my personal overall experience of working for the NHS.

Decent pay for what admins do

A lot of work thrown at you very quickly that's well above your pay grade

Always something to do

I enjoy my time working as admin for NHS as I get to meet new people and I’m always busy so time goes quick! I work as bank staff so I am out in different departments and I get to learn new things everyday.

Get to leave on time

Fast-paced place to work. Great place to work, I wish they would offer bit better pay. Pension was a biggest benefit. Onboarding took a very long time.
